Boehner not sure Rubio’s DREAM Act would pass the House
Asked by a reporter whether he thought the House could pass an immigration measure this year that focused on more than just border security, Boehner said: “There’s always hope,”
The speaker said he has spoken to Rubio about his plan. “I found it of interest, but the problem with this issue is that we’re operating in a very hostile political environment. To deal with a very difficult issue like this, I think it would be difficult at best.”

It’s a bag of snakes, John. Do what you do best with this.

This was a stupid fight to pick. And what timing!

It was the House republicans which killed Bush’s amnesty, they’re not going to sign off on Rubio’s nonsense.
The American people want these people deported, not have their tax money spent on educating them.

“Secure the borders first” only four words and any elementary school student could easily understand them, but in DC our political leaders can’t be made to understand.

Another “non-story” since Boehner is not sure if he changed his underwear this morning.

Impressive!!!!!
John Boehner in other words:
I’d really like the democrats take up Rubio’s dream act in an election year, pass it in the senate, and then give me a chance to Bu++F&ck the conservatives in the house again by showing how extreme they are in refusing to even go along with their own party’s version of immigration reform.
We’re doomed

In 2014, or so, the big Amnesty will pass, be it Obama or Romney.
Good luck anti-immigration Mitt adherents. I can’t wait to see you argue for any DREAM act, circa May-June-July, 2012.
Schadenfreude on April 26, 2012 at 1:52 PM
I agree with the rest of what you’ve said here but I don’t think we’re doomed.
All we see from the other side is gaffe after gaffe. War on women, war on sex, race war, war on students, they keep pulling rabbits out of the hat and the rabbits keep getting smaller. Not to mention latent scandals such as F&F, energy boondoggles, fraudulent campaign financing, etc.

No kidding. Just plain dumb imo.
Hey!…lets bring up gay marriage, abortion and the assault on the “environment” and show how we’re willing to “reach across the aisle” for “fairness” and “social justice”.

Amnesty for illegals and calls for more spending of America’s precious blood and treasure. Why is Rubio liked here by anyone, again?
TheDriver on April 26, 2012 at 2:04 PM
They already have been arguing for it in threads on this board. I’m waiting to see what starts emerging on tax and environmental policy. Who’s ready to be called an extremist for opposing tax increases?
Doomberg on April 26, 2012 at 2:04 PM
Yep….and I’m one of them.
Between…..”The purpose of the institutions we established, from the United Nations to the World Bank and the IMF was to spread peace and prosperity, not to assert narrow American interests” AND the “Dream Act 2″…..Rubio, you’ve lost me forever.
tencole on April 26, 2012 at 2:09 PM
I cannot see how anyone can argue for any type of amnesty after the recent report on the self-deportation by Mexican nationals.
Nathan_OH on April 26, 2012 at 2:45 PM
People should stop referring to it as “Rubio’s Dream Act”.
It’s obvious that this plan was devised by the Romney camp and handed off to Rubio to float before the public. Romney is using this ploy to act as if he’s been reigned in by reality after taking the strong anti-Amnesty positions during the nomination. Romney is going to act as if he was serious about his immigration restriction promises, but was forced by forces beyond his control into a compromise.
The Romney camp is now using all of the influence they bought and paid for from “Conservative” media outlets to butter up the base and prepare us for Romney’s eventual flip on this issue.
They pulled him back in…

The kids should not be punished for the law-breaking of their parents but “chain migration” should not be allowed either.
The end of the tomato industry was predicted because of the end of the Bracero (guest worker) Program, in the mid 60s. It had some problems but instaed of fixing them, the whole enchallada was trashed. The tomato industry then grew! because of the adoption of machine tomatoes.
A compromise on Rubio’s bill can be worked out by those willing to compromise.

The best way to mitigate illegal border crossings would be for Southern Poverty Law Center volunteers to be placed at strategic locations along the Southwest Border to explain to the new arrivals just how racist and intolerant a country this is.
Turn back now- before it’s too late!
