“You know, we’ve gotten kind of used to this sort of verbal tantrums from the president”
“You know, we’ve gotten kind of used to this sort of verbal tantrums from the president. To me it’s a little more petulance than presidential,” Ryan told NBC. “He’s trying to use this kind of rhetoric to distort away from his failed record.”
Ryan used the same phrase (which echoes an editorial defending Ryan in the conservative National Review) on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” a few minutes later,. He added that Obama’s much-touted Buffett Rule is “pixie dust.”

Gotta call a spade a spade. Obama is a child because he refuses to accept responsibility for his actions and when he doesnt get his way he has a tantrum.
Zaggs on April 10, 2012 at 3:59 PM
He’ll make a great VP candidate. He takes it to Obama with that smirk on his face that’ll drive the left nutz.
Doughboy on April 10, 2012 at 4:03 PM
Obama’s unhinged rant at the American People’s UNFITNESS to have “him” as their leader IS going to happen… Sometime between August and November.
wildcat72 on April 10, 2012 at 4:04 PM
When Obama called Ryan out to publicly humiliate him over his budget proposal, he made an enemy for life.
John the Libertarian on April 10, 2012 at 4:04 PM
an historical presidency- the first toddler/terrible twos president.
barry “veruca” obama. mmm mmmmm mmmm.

Thin-skinned Obama does not take well to ridicule or condescension. He is used to condescending to the bitter clingers.
The McCain “celebrity” ad made fun of Obama, and the “One We Have Been Waiting For” meme.
A condescending, “Oh, poor Obama, he does try, but he’s in over his head. We just can’t let this on-the-job training continue” would annoy Obama to no end.
Wethal on April 10, 2012 at 4:06 PM
Whether he is the VP nominee, or not, I like him in this role. I wish we had more who possess his sharp rhetoric and, most importantly, testicular fortitude.
kakypat on April 10, 2012 at 4:08 PM
Be still my beating heart. I can’t wait. That speech would be a keeper for all time, a perfect summation of the last 4 years. I’ll also never forget the Royal Office of the President Elect. Hahahaha what bufoons.

You probably know this but Obama made a point to do so because Ryan had so humiliated him at the healthcare summit. They are natural enemies: the liar and the truthteller. I hope Obama keeps the feud going because he is woefully outmatched.
Kataklysmic on April 10, 2012 at 4:11 PM
He mocks words like “Marvelous” as if it’s arugula,, attacks plans without offering any alternatives, allows his sycophants to go after people’s religion, assaults rulings that don’t go his way…
Barack The Man-Child.
Perfect line of attack.
budfox on April 10, 2012 at 4:14 PM
You’re onto something here, and it can be used very effectively against Obama, if the GOP will follow up on it. Ridicule him, laugh him off, show him up as a not-too-bright amateur who’s way in over his head. Firstly, it’s true. And second, it will send Obama into a meltdown hissy-fit.
Trafalgar on April 10, 2012 at 4:15 PM
If Ryan is the VP pick, and I’d rather he not be, he should debate Obama.
Obama doesn’t have the intellectual horsepower or free-market background for a debate on the economy, tax policy, budgets, health care, etc., to keep up with Ryan.
BuckeyeSam on April 10, 2012 at 4:15 PM
Yeah, I remember when Ryan scored the numbers true. And now the CBO is finally (and reluctantly) coming clean.
John the Libertarian on April 10, 2012 at 4:16 PM
A few jokes about styrofoam columns and the oceans receding now and then might be effective.
Wethal on April 10, 2012 at 4:19 PM
You know what line of attack this ties into? Romney’s consistent “he’s a nice guy, he just doesn’t know what he’s doing” variant.
I hope it is Ryan, because the passive aggressive attack is not what Barry wants. He was expecting to play Mr. Kewl against “Unhinged White Guy With Drawl”.
Portman doesn’t have this in him.
budfox on April 10, 2012 at 4:19 PM
That’s really sad. Why would a society as great as America ever get used to have an infantile retard leading the Executive branch? We should get more pissed off about Barky’s retardation and America-hate with every nw instance of it, not the opposite.
ThePrimordialOrderedPair on April 10, 2012 at 4:21 PM
Ryan is having a battle of wits with a man who is unarmed. Unsporting, but fun.
The Rogue Tomato on April 10, 2012 at 4:21 PM
And he’s likeable. He has a kind of earnest, slightly wonkish, boyish charm that’s hard to resist. He can hit hard without seeming snarky or spiteful. There are those who will argue against some of his policy positions, but on a personal level, it’s hard not to like him.
Dee2008 on April 10, 2012 at 4:22 PM
IIRC, he threw Maureen Dowd off the NYTimes off the campaign plane in 2008 for a joke about his ears.
Wethal on April 10, 2012 at 4:22 PM
Don’t sugar-coat it. Barky is a malevolent retard with the power of the feral government behind him.
ThePrimordialOrderedPair on April 10, 2012 at 4:25 PM
If Obamacare is struck down, watch for the tantrum to end all. That could damage the “likeability” image.
Wethal on April 10, 2012 at 4:28 PM
Hello Vice President Ryan….booyaa!
DrW on April 10, 2012 at 4:31 PM
Paul Ryan has to be the favorite for VP. Don’t get this Rob “Who the hell am I?” Portman stuff. Ryan can tell you everything about the American economy without notes. It would be refreshing to have some intelligence in that office again.
Jim-Rose on April 10, 2012 at 4:34 PM
I’m going with some late night in early November.
CurtZHP on April 10, 2012 at 4:37 PM
To say that this WH functions like a kindergarten, makes the latter indignant.
Schadenfreude on April 10, 2012 at 4:37 PM
Very good points, and I couldn’t agree with you more. If he’s the VP nominee, just imagine him debating Biden. I don’t think it would be much of a debate, though. ;o)
kakypat on April 10, 2012 at 4:39 PM
The empty-suited flop-eared dork is all pixie dust. His qualifications, his accomplishments, his mojo–whatever you want to name–nothing but a sham.
MisterElephant on April 10, 2012 at 4:42 PM
This.
If only John Mc Cain had had the stones to go after 0bama like that in 2008, we’d have Palin as VP and the old guy as President right now, and Zero would be sitting in the Senate seething. Instead of the other way around.
UltimateBob on April 10, 2012 at 4:42 PM
Yeah, that too. Another example of an in-over-his-head jug-brained maneuver from ol’ Jug-eared zer0.
MisterElephant on April 10, 2012 at 4:46 PM
Maybe one day he’ll hold his breath until his face turns as lavender as his lips.
MisterElephant on April 10, 2012 at 4:48 PM
We so desperately need more of this. Any chance we can clone Ryan and replace the rest of the Republican Party with him? If only this guy were running for president.
Doomberg on April 10, 2012 at 4:52 PM
Well play Ryan, well played.
Hissy fits, temper tantrums, he really is a petulant child.
D-fusit on April 10, 2012 at 5:07 PM
Ryan rocks.
I don’t know why he’s not running, he’d have my vote in a heartbeat.

affenhauer on April 10, 2012 at 5:58 PM
A technical aside from the ongoing and excellent Ryan boosting…
This is what passes as journalism in America today. You accuse someone of something (e.g., being an attack dog), then you start out by doing to them what you had accused them of doing (by attacking them, or quoting someone else’s attack), and when they defend themselves, you say, “See?” Pathetic, Washington Post.
