Liberal comedian maligns motherhood as “indentured servitude”
After mispronouncing her name, Schultz asked Winstead to describe her upcoming book, “Lizz Free or Die: Essays” (audio) –
SCHULTZ: Tell me about the book. What’s happening?
WINSTEAD: Oh my God. Well, the book comes out May 10th and, you know, it’s a fun little romp that gives people a little bit of an indication as to sort of where I got to this place in my life. Because, you know, even as a young girl, Ed, it’s so interesting that we’re in this time now, because even as a young girl I’m somebody who was like, I never liked dolls, you know? One time my mom gave me a stove, a toy stove, for Christmas and I was like, are you kidding?! Even at 8, I was like, cooking is not a game. You know, this is not a game. I want to be outside. I want to do anything but cook and have a baby that pees and that you call that a game. That is not a game, that is a baby that pees. That is not fun for me. That’s indentured servitude.
Yet another example of how “choice” to leftists is about limiting a woman’s choices, not expanding them.
What a shock that Winstead is an ardent supporter of Planned Parenthood. Don’t be surprised if she branches off with an organization titled, Parenthood — What the Hell For?!

Seriously? How long are conservatives going to bemoan liberal humorists. They take things to an extreme, its the very basis of comedy. Isn’t that while you all love Rush Limbaugh? Sheesh, get a grip.

She will be in her 50′s, bitter and alone before she realizes that she has missed out on one of life’s greatest pleasures.
Fallon on April 7, 2012 at 9:50 AM
Really that is the extreme in a country that aborts 6000 kids a day?
I see Rush still gets to you . Good to see.

Oh and I wonder are we allowed to criticize Obama when he claims motherhood is a punishment.
Funny how you were the first person to post on this thread. Are you sure you and Lib4 are not the same person?
CW on April 7, 2012 at 9:54 AM
While she reflects a typical radical feminist attitude, in this instance she was clearly speaking only for herself. There are good examples of the left’s hostility toward the traditional choices of women, but this isn’t one of them.
RadClown on April 7, 2012 at 9:56 AM
It’s a far too late response to the War on Culture. Chalk it up to a response to, among other things, the left’s assault on the airwaves to convince us that homosexuality is the most awesomely awesome conduct, that it should be celebrated from the rooftop from sea to shining see, and that it should be introduced in public schools to children as early as kindergarten.
But congratulations for being poised at your PC for the left’s instant response.
BuckeyeSam on April 7, 2012 at 9:56 AM
Sounds good to me. Nothing makes my day like a liberal swearing off reproduction. Here’s hoping that leftists all over the world vigorously embrace this anti-replacement strategy.
HotAirian on April 7, 2012 at 9:57 AM
Hey, Ms. Winstead: If you want to, you don’t have to.
But you go ahead and decline to procreate–I find I’m a-ok with that.

It’s Ed Schultz. Who cares?

I wonder how many of her kids she’s had butchered at PP.

A Mac isn’t a Personal Computer in the liberal mind? What do you guys call it? A magic progressive box? An electric Apple?

She was the original producer of the Daily Show, pre-Stewart.
She quit because Kilborn made some harmless comment about her in an interview.
She’s not a comedian, she’s a lefty who works in commentary humor.
Comedians can take a hit. Most Hollywood funny people can’t.

Libfreeonotherpeoplesmoney was just trying to throw it in our faces that she wasted 1500 or more of her welfare take(that we paid for) instead of buying a Windows machine for half as much.

She’s not a very smart consumer or poster.

Panned Parenthood.
Dextrous on April 7, 2012 at 10:33 AM
Yeah, I remember her on The Daily Show way back in the day. I preferred the Kilborn version. It leaned left thanks to people like Winstead behind the scenes, but Craiggers kept it mostly non-partisan as the host. That went out the door once Stewart got in there.
Didn’t she also have a show on Air America, or am I thinking of someone else?
Doughboy on April 7, 2012 at 10:39 AM
Unless she was a little slow in her development, the “toy stove” she got at eight was probably a kid-safe, functional stove. Heaven forbid a parent encourage a child to learn how to cook.
McDuck on April 7, 2012 at 10:39 AM
Why would anyone encourage parenthood in people who know it is not for them?
Blake on April 7, 2012 at 10:55 AM
Being anti-life is one of the hallmarks of progressivism. Why would we stop criticizing it when it goes so far as being the subject of left-wing entertainment?
Valkyriepundit on April 7, 2012 at 10:56 AM
More reactionary reaction from the rethuglican reactionary right.
Everyone knows macs are superior to pcs, because they’re fundamentally progressive devices. They avoid unnecessary complexities like the second button on the mouse. You know, the one that poor people, minorities and women get so confused over.

It’s probably best for all concerned that she doesn’t breed.

Perhaps when the Left stops pretending that “liberal humorists” actually dispense “wisdom” instead of goofy and/or obnoxious punchlines. What Winstead is actually saying is that she’s not suited for motherhood and she resents women who are. Bitter, cynical envy is a staple of Leftist thought. Of course, she’s also permanently angry because Air America went down in flames. Not funny. Not classy. Not relevant.

Antiquated chauvinism: Women don’t have the right to be in the office, they need to be taught that their place is as a housewife.
Modern feminism: Women don’t have the right to be housewives, they need to be taught that their place is in the office.

Am I supposed to be against Lizz Winstead refusing to pass along her genes?
Jim Treacher on April 7, 2012 at 11:44 AM
The worst part? Her rant isn’t “funny”. At all. It’s just humorless, and that’s not what makes a good “comedienne”.
Nethicus on April 7, 2012 at 11:59 AM
Perhaps she’ll put her money where her mouth is.
Question is: Will liberalism destroy our country before The Roe Effect destroys liberals? One can only hope.

Someone should take this “woman” and ask her if her own mother was an indentured servant. Someone should ask her if she would prefer that her mother had never been burdened with her. Someone should ask her if she owes her own mother any gratitude for keeping the human race alive by bearing her, and if the proper exercise of that gratitude would not be to bear children herself to pass that gift along.
The human being is a rational animal. If you are eager to embrace the animal side for the pleasure of sex, by what right or logic do you reject the inescapable animal fact that life is transmitted from life? You are picking and choosing the facts you like, and condemning those you don’t.
Slavery and indentured servitude are the exercise of power by humans over humans. That humans are born of women is a fact of nature, not an exercise of human power, just as lambs are born of ewes. If it is an obligation, it is an obligation of life itself.
There is a reason for the fourth Commandment. “Honor thy father and mother” comes before the prohibitions on killing, adultery, theft, lying, and envy. Motherhood is both a relationship and an act. How can you honor your mother in the relationship when you condemn the relationship and the act?

This is all pretty academic since I’m pretty sure Winstead’s eggs are past their expiration date.
