Poll of adults: Obama’s approval rating back up to 50%
The poll, taken March 8-11 on the heels of reports that 227,000 jobs were added to the U.S. economy in February, indicates that Obama’s rating has risen by 2 percentage points during the past month. The percentage of Americans who disapprove of the Democratic president was 48 percent, down from 49 percent in February…
In a survey of registered voters, Obama led Romney 52 to 41 percent in a head-to-head match-up, nearly double the margin from February. Obama led Santorum 52 to 42 percent, and Gingrich 54 to 37 percent.
Obama’s fortunes have been improved by a drum beat of positive economic news. The unemployment rate held steady at 8.3 percent in February and was buoyed by three straight months of jobs growth.

Re: economic news, 50% of Americans appear to be confusing the phrases “because of” and “in spite of.”

The MSM and their polls are gonna jerk people around ’til November. We need to keep our wits about us.

This poll is totally meaningless.

Don’t pay attention to polls. The good ones make you lazy and the bad ones discourage you. Just put your head down and push through Nov.

all the polls are meaningless… don’t believe them when they say his approval is going up or down. They have no idea either way.
Karmashock on March 14, 2012 at 9:03 AM
Harry Reid says:
“I think this poll is so meaningless. It is trying to give the American people an idea of what 300 million people feel by testing several hundred people. I think the poll is flawed in so many different ways including a way that questions were asked. I don’t believe in polls generally and specifically not in this one.”

There is only one poll that matters – the one that throws Obama out!
OldEnglish on March 14, 2012 at 9:06 AM
It’s March of 2012. Just look at the country and you’ll understand:
1. Gitmo is closed
2. Unemployment is under 6%
3. The deficit has been cut in half
4. Complete victory in Afghanistan
5. Economic growth at 7%
6. All the renewable energy successes
Oh wait… I’m reading from Biden’s Stimulus Tour speeches in 2009.
Never mind.

ArthurMachado on March 14, 2012 at 9:14 AM
What a crock of crap. HA, why do you even report this. The polling was 51% dem and 38% repub. Reuters is obviously a slimy obama shill. I guess that was as far as they could push it, or though the liberal media is getting so stupid that you will soon see a headline 99% of Americans prefer obama, because they only sampled dems. They are taking their polling lessons from chavez, putin, assad, and saddam hussain.
You guys are almost not worth reading. We get enough misinformation from the MSM; that is why we read you to get away from that static.

From article:
“The Reuters/Ipsos telephone poll of 1,084 adults included 554 respondents who identified themselves as Democrats, 421 as Republicans, and 109 as independents. The total respondents included 937 registered voters.
(So 147 of those polled (10%) are not even voters…all Democrats, perhaps???)
The poll’s margin of error was plus or minus 3.1 percentage points for all respondents; 3.3 points for registered voters; 4.2 points for Democrats; 4.9 points for Republicans, and 9.8 points for independents.“
albill on March 14, 2012 at 9:18 AM
if this thing goes on, in a few months, they won’t be able to find more than 27% who admit to be republicans.

Hot Air logic on polls:
– If it’s a result I agree with, the poll is completely valid and
shows the end of hopey-changey.
– If it’s a result I disagree with, it’s clearly slanted by the
lamestream media!

Those that were polled consisted of the editorial boards of the New York Time, Washington Post, Village Voice, Pravda, AP, Mother Jones, Reuters and the BBC.
Rixon on March 14, 2012 at 9:37 AM
Do you think a poll of adults with a 51% Democrat sample is valid?
If the sample was 51% Republican and it showed a 34% approval for Obama, I’d dismiss that too.
The most significant thing that can be taken from this is that they needed 51% Democrats to get Obama’s approval up to 50%. Those numbers are pathetic.

All I know, is that unlike Alec Baldwin, my wife and I actually have specific plans in place to leave the country if he wins reelection. If that happens, I hope those that remain and voted for this maniac enjoy their new lives in hell.

HA is one of the few sites that breaks down the polling data.
In 1936, a telephone poll had Landon winning in a landslide. The problem was that in 1936, a clear majority of people who actually had telephones in their homes were Republicans.
If you can’t find anything wrong with a poll that asks (a) adults/registered voters and not “likely voters”, (b) 51% Democrats and only 39% Republicans… you’re the useful idiot the press is looking for.
Insane rooting from the press. The Stimulus estimates had unemployment never rising above 8% and at under 6% by 2012 Q2. If Bush had promised that and the number was still over 8%… we’d be fed a diet of “Worse than The Great Great Great Depression!!!” every day from the press.
At least Gitmo is closed. The useful idiots who staged all those rallies on the White House lawn were at least able to end that Bush war crime!/
mankai on March 14, 2012 at 9:49 AM
Obama won in 2008 by five points over McCain. Even if you assume that the adult population skewers more Democratic than a poll of likely voters would, widening the Democratic/Republcan sampling margin by 140 percemt over the split in the last presidential election is gaming a poll to get the results you and/or the company you’re polling for are seeking.
jon1979 on March 14, 2012 at 10:01 AM
Logic. Yeah, that’s the word to use. Yesterday we get a CBS poll that shows Obama at 41% approval, yet Reuters shows him above 50%. Both Rasmussen and Gallup show Republican candidates winning or very close to Obama, yet Reuters shows Obama winning in a landslide against the top 3 candidates.
Perhaps the correct term is zombie. A liberal zombie is ready to swallow hook, line and sinker any push pull result favorable to their side with zero analysis.
NotCoach on March 14, 2012 at 10:09 AM
Obama won by 5 points over McCain. Ask yourself this: Is is likely that any measurable percentage of McCain voters have swung to Obama? Yeah, right. Is it likely that some measurable percentage of Obama voters have given up on him and will either stay away or vote for the opponent?

38.3% as Republicans and most absurd of all 10% as independents.
ButterflyDragon on March 14, 2012 at 10:46 AM
Just one of five ways to make a poll come out any which way you want it. Why doesn’t Rooters just write that they love the Zero every day on their website and FB page? Seriously. They aren’t a news organization any longer.
How many lies does it take to lose their accredidation(sp?) as journalists?
dogsoldier on March 14, 2012 at 10:50 AM
Funny, no one questioned the sample or any of it’s characteristics on the one poll in months to show him at 41%. Odd that. /
Boomer_Sooner on March 14, 2012 at 11:16 AM
The one where (R)s were possibly underrepresented? Now that you mention it, that is odd. Imagine how much lower it could’ve been.
