“(He said) that Jews control the government and that you need to be their friends in order to be successful”
“This is not hate, this is actual facts,” Farrakhan said.

If you wished to climb MT. Everest, would you hire as guide an Inuit or a Sherpa?

Wonder what Andrew Klavan has to say about a similar subject…

Something tells me that Obama thinks the same thing…judging by the company he keeps. What’s David Axlefraud’s job again? To control the media, basically.

“Judaism is a gutter religion.”
Hey, it’s just an opinion. Let’s cut this guy some slack.

A racist student group invites a racist to speak at their racist conference and some of them get offended when he makes racist statements.
I’ll take cognitive dissonance for 200, Alex.

I love that vid as much as when I first saw it. He needs to do more videos, really. One of the best voices the right has. Him and Bill Whittle should team up.

CorporatePiggy was speaking about people screaming “anti-semitism” at him, not Calypso Louie, obviously. And he’s right. He wasn’t being anti-semitic by stating that he thought Jews controlled a lot of stuff. Jews contribute disproportionately in most areas and it is not anti-semitic to interpret that presence as “control”. It’s a question of the establishment of some sort of unitary control and ability to thwart new entrants (assuming other qualified entrants) that is the issue. It’s a legitimate inquiry. Calypso Louie is allowed to propose it, too. But Calypso Louie wasn’t doing that. He was stating, “this is the facts” (as we would all expect of a university speaker) about an all-encompassing, beuniversalizing galactic conspiracy headed by some guy named Moishe in Jerusalem.
ThePrimordialOrderedPair on March 12, 2012 at 12:20 PM
Try starting a conversation about black people with “they commit most of the crimes”. See if everyone, including conservatives, doesn’t call you racist. When you start off a conversation by invoking old stereotypes, there’s a reason people don’t take you seriously.

I grew up Jewish in his neighborhood(He had a ‘mansion’ in Crete. IL @ the time)-the guy is a full-bore Jew-hater.
annoyinglittletwerp on March 12, 2012 at 12:29 PM
I find it increasingly hard to take you seriously but that’s just my opinion.
CorporatePiggy on March 12, 2012 at 12:30 PM
But that’s a big part of the problem, itself. Content is divorced from motivation in a rational discussion. PC is all about forcing information’s publicly accepted truth or falsity to be based more on empathy than reality. That is never good.
As to Calypso Louie, while this is a legitimate discussion (Jews are highly successful in many important fields – Hollywood, physics, …) it is hardly appropriate material for a university speech, and Louie’s actual content was … let’s say, “lacking”.
ThePrimordialOrderedPair on March 12, 2012 at 12:33 PM
I was talking about CorporatePiggy, not Louie. Of course Farrakhan is a full-on Jew hater. That has never been in doubt. He’s proud to state it. everyone knows that. His supporters support him in large part because of it.
ThePrimordialOrderedPair on March 12, 2012 at 12:35 PM
Intent is the only thing that matters. We can discuss the fact that the prison population in the United States is disproportionally represented by blacks and why that may be. But Farrakhan is not examining or promoting what blacks need to do to be more competitive in any given field. He is scapegoating. Usually such scapegoating is an attempt to obscure one’s own inferiority. And as an individual Farrakhan certainly is an inferior thinker.
I never understood this line of reasoning myself. It seems to me such reasoning is an admission that others are more intelligent and more capable then the person claiming victimhood. In order to believe Jews are secretly conspiring to repress people one must believe, unconsciously anyways, that one is inferior and incapable of such intelligent behavior themselves.

“Some students offended by Louis Farrakhan’s UC Berkeley address”
Alternate headline: “Most students very receptive to Louis Farrakhan’s UC Berkeley address”
Opposite Day on March 12, 2012 at 12:47 PM
Exactly. And that feeds on itself.
Farrakhan is hardly a serious person, in rational terms. Any school inviting him for any reason is pretty pathetic. His hate of Jews is instructive for America, though, as it is a pretty good view of the koran’s teachings about Jews. There’s some black American culture mixed in, but I think that Louie expresses the koran better than most on this. America should listen and understand, because getting much of this nation to even admit to what’s in the koran is much tougher a task than it should be. The book isn’t very subtle, really. It’s just like the way Farrakhan speaks.

Racist tw@t.
Tim_CA on March 12, 2012 at 12:53 PM
That’s shattering, given that I’ve never taken you seriously.
MadisonConservative on March 12, 2012 at 1:05 PM
There’s such things as “starters” and “non-starters” to conversations and dialogues. If you start out a conversation with a gross generalization based on stereotypes so old they’ve become jokes, then you’re employing non-starters. If you start a conversation by saying that there seems to be a disproportionate amount of successful Jewish people in Hollywood, or saying that there is a disproportionate amount of black people in jail, those are facts that you can build upon and explore. Unfortunately, some people like Piggy don’t have the patience or intelligence to actually address issues from a level that doesn’t involve knuckle-dragging.
MadisonConservative on March 12, 2012 at 1:08 PM
Farrakhan just hates Jews because Jews have run much of the entertainment industry, and subsidized much of the civil rights movement, and owned a lot of stores in slum neighborhoods, and that sticks in his calypso-crooning black nationalist craw.
Seth Halpern on March 12, 2012 at 1:19 PM
You are correct. I was thinking about this and decided that CorporatePiggy should have asked people if they thought that Jews basically built Hollywood (most would quickly agree) and then moved on from there. Hollywood, of course, is only part of a much more expansive film industry, these days, which is how that discussion would go, but he would have had a much simpler entry to his point by framing it that way.
ThePrimordialOrderedPair on March 12, 2012 at 1:19 PM
What you explained is precisely how conversations should go. And by the way…I’m not claiming that it’s easy to start discussing these often touchy topics, but it can be done.
MadisonConservative on March 12, 2012 at 1:24 PM
Notice how ther is no story of how protesters shouted down this clearly racist speaker? California students have no problem shouting and demeaning any conservative speaker, yet this clear racist is adored by these same students.
California STUDENTS are leading the charge towards the next Jew exterminating holocaust!
