Surprise: Swing-state Dem Claire McCaskill backtracking on new contraception rule
“There’s time to get this worked out in a way that respects religious freedom, but also makes sure that women can get birth control,” McCaskill told reporters. “I’m hoping that they will find a compromise where there would be notice or riders or some way that we could get there.”
McCaskill said several Senate Democrats raised the issue at Wednesday’s retreat, at which President Barack Obama spoke.

It’s pretty funny watching the clueless Democrat legislators who voted for and proudly trumpeted the advent of O’BamaCare now desperately trying to split the baby* on this issue.
*pun most definitely intended

Your cold hard (and virtually free) solution undermines the abstract clarity of a woman’s natural right to have taxpayers control her body!

Oh, my Lord. You’re right. His campaign must be in a shambles if they can’t even afford spellcheck anymore!

Obamacare was always just a temporary thing for these people – until they could get single-payer heathcare. And his just help their cause. See, if Gov’t provided the soup to nuts healthcare, then this wouldn’t even be a factor.
Single payer is coming folks. Its what they always intended.

What kind of compromise are they hoping for? How can two such opposite positions find a middle ground?
cptacek on February 10, 2012 at 12:54 AM
She must be defeated, the slippery creature. There were good reasons before. Her big mouth just put her over.
Don’t let her live down the airplane cheating.

If this stands, next Obama can say “no more pork to be sold – it offends some”.

Claire McCaskill is finished in 2012.

Someone PLEASE send me the link to photos of the soup-line-esque queues of women waiting for their birth control. WHO in this country has difficulty getting birth control? It’s a canard. This issue only exists in a college textbook somewhere!
There is ZERO middle ground between gov’t interfering with the free exercise of religion or not. There is no compromise available. Once again, another canard. The problem is that they cannot vilify the Catholic Church as easy as they did the GOP. God, please let this be the death knell for these evil terrible people.

Oh I see…backed into an ‘election year corner’, Dem Claire McCaskill now says she doesn’t really want YOUR CHURCH to kill babies in the name of state run ObamaCare ??…but, the killing of babies apparently is still OK ??
BigSven on February 10, 2012 at 4:59 AM
What does contraception and abortion have to do with healthcare? Why are we starting any discussion with that assumption?

Exactly. Hater.
She’s so stupid she’s actually funny.
Jaibones on February 10, 2012 at 6:43 AM
I agree. I simply can’t get my mind around this “compromise” talk. I guess that its the dog-whistle word that Dems use as a stall for a week or two while they poll over the damage of caving in or standing pat. Knowing the Dems, they’ll offer some stupid reason for distinguishing Catholic school teachers (covered) from Catholic hospital workers (not covered).
I keep envisioning an Obama-administration worm wiggling on a hook of a fishing pole held by the Catholic bishops. Keep twisting Obmama.
BuckeyeSam on February 10, 2012 at 6:46 AM
You’ve already lost the election, Dems. Nice work.
John the Libertarian on February 10, 2012 at 7:15 AM
They’re treating the public like fools. You could get BC yesterday and you’ll be able to get it tomorrow. The difference is tomorrow they want to force ALL insurance companies to pay for it regardless of conscience or business objections.
Yet they think Americans are so stupid that they can frame it as, ‘Conservatives want to ban birth control’. Who knows, the Dems have gotten away with crazier memes.
Wonderful.
CorporatePiggy on February 10, 2012 at 7:20 AM
Must be an effort to frame the debate if Santorum is the eventual nominee of the GOP. Abortion and Birth Control is not healthcare. By definition it is anti-healthcare. Both of them prevent a natural biological event, reproduction. Maybe liberals didn’t take Biology in school.
txmomof6 on February 10, 2012 at 7:33 AM
oops should be Abortion and Birth control are not healthcare. Too early in the am. Need more coffee.
txmomof6 on February 10, 2012 at 7:34 AM
They’ve already lost the debate. This is the most vile attack on the First Amendment in my lifetime.
John the Libertarian on February 10, 2012 at 7:39 AM
We don’t trust you, Claire.
Naturally Curly on February 10, 2012 at 7:40 AM
You don’t trust big government Mommy?
Any Republican who runs against her MUST use that soundbite over and over.

When you get to the bottom-line…ObamaCare is NOT healthcare either!!
If you haven’t noticed, the whole ObamaCare Plan seems to be how to best manage the death of preborns, and to facilitate the death of the elderly, and non-useful, non productive members of society. Single-payer, rationing, and denial are in ObamaCare’s future. Stock up on aspirin, because it will be the only relief you will get as you grow older.
Have you seen any “Soylent Green” plants going up in your area yet? The ones planned for in my area are accessed only by high-speed rail, and are powered by solar panels and windmills. :0
