Paul Ryan to CPAC: Go bold or go home
In other words, a bold reform agenda is our moral obligation. We have an obligation to provide the American people with a clear path that gets our country back on track.
If we make the case effectively and win this November, then we will have the moral authority to enact the kind of fundamental reforms America has not seen since Ronald Reagan’s first year.
That’s the moral case for going bold. But there is also a strong political case for going bold.
The times call for leaders who understand the depth of the problems we face, and who offer far‐reaching reforms equal to the challenges. In 1980, Ronald Reagan offered supply‐side economics at home and a rollback of Soviet Communism abroad.
The challenges this time? They’re different. But the moment calls for the same kind of boldness.
Everybody knows this is politically risky territory. Republicans have their battle scars on entitlement reform. That’s why some argue that we should downplay bold agendas and simply wage a campaign focused solely on the President and his party.
I firmly disagree. Boldness and clarity offer the greatest opportunity to create a winning coalition. We will not only win the next election – we have a unique opportunity to sweep and remake the political landscape.

SO why don’t you follow your words with actions, buddy?

You wouldn’t consider Paul Ryan bold?

Fixed.

Congressman Ryan, could you please explain your vote for auto bailout, taxing of AIG bonuses, and TARP? I’ll hang up and listen.

Anyone have video of this yet? I’m not rich enough to attend the banquets.

I love Paul Ryan, but he sounds high here and living in a little dream world.
“sweep and remake the political landscape”?…only if you get rid of the gope and Boehner as speaker.
You willing to lead the charge Mr Ryan?

The smart money’s on going home.

Too bad Mitch McConnell is too busy kissing Barack’s ass to hear those words.

Shorter Ryan.
I really hope you guys pick someone unelectable so I’m good to go after four more years in the smoke house.

Then why aren’t you running Paul Ryan?
JeffB. on February 9, 2012 at 11:46 PM
Ha, nice.

It’s kind of hard for Paul Ryan “to run” when he was tossed under the bus by Newt Gingrich, at the most important moment, at the ultimate moment of him putting his neck out on the line.
To question his courage or question why he didn’t run, you only need to ask yourselves why you would EVER support the person who made sure that wouldn’t happen.
Paul Ryan will the President of the United States some day. He is and has always been the Reagan we’ve been waiting for.

For as long as I can remember I’ve been seeing government programs emerge and then a couple of years later there’s talk about reform. In other words, pretty much every government program fails quickly. Let’s just get rid of them instead of worrying about reforming. Easier said then done, of course.

Odd to hear a case for boldness from a man so disappointingly timid that he chose not to run for President. A man who could have easily won the nomination against this tepid field. Go back to your, oh so important, Budget Committee Paul. Your cowardice in your country’s time of need continues to disgust me.

Paul Ryan talks a good game but his record falls short. Paul Ryan should be rooting Sarah Palin and to some extent Ron Paul but he stays silent because he views Palin as a rival.
CoolChange80 on February 10, 2012 at 3:44 AM
Paul Ryan, Sarah Palin, and Chris Christie know that 2012 is unwinnable that is why they all passed on running in 2012 around the same time. Either of those 3 could have been the nominee.
CoolChange80 on February 10, 2012 at 3:48 AM
The biggest obstacles to bold reform are in GOPe leadership–John Boner, Yertle the Turtle and the rank and file of the Congressional GOP who, when not voting with the aforementioned, are firing rockets up the behinds of the handful of Conservatives leaders calling publicly for sudden, relentless reform.
james23 on February 10, 2012 at 7:32 AM
Its just not done in polite, GOPe company.
james23 on February 10, 2012 at 7:33 AM
Yes, Ryan went bold woth his vote for TARP, the auto bailouts, and confiscating CEO salaries, and with his laughable budget plan that didn’t reduce one cent of spending.

No one was more disappointed than I was when Ryan decided not to Run for President. I strongly thought the moment was right. I hope it not too late. If Romney wins it will be 8 years before he can run. A VP position would be nice but, is somewhat irrelevant. History dictates that is very difficult for one to win a Presidental election after serving as VP for 8 years. What are his political options? He has passed on a Senatorial run, Walker is Governor of WI and if not recalled will run again. Any thoughts?

Sure you would.
You may listen, but would you hear anything?
Mimzey on February 10, 2012 at 9:16 AM
Blah..blah..blah.. Why don’t you demand he be tossed in a pond with a weight on his chest and if he sinks he was “pure” enough for you?
You brainwashed ideologues are a hoot to behold imo.
Mimzey on February 10, 2012 at 9:20 AM
Who is “you guys”?
Sounds like bigoted “code words”.
