Adultery is bad. Telling your spouse is worse.
(1) By disclosing your adultery, you’ll be hurting the one person you love more than anyone else in the world. Your urge to confess and beg forgiveness does not outweigh your responsibility to be kind, considerate, and to avoid inflicting pain and suffering. Confessing is cruel.
(2) It will inevitably lead to your spouse telling your children, if you have any. If they are young, this will have long-term negative effects on their behavior when they’re married. Children learn by the example set by their parents far more than by what their parents tell them is right or what their religious training teaches them is right or wrong.

Tiger Woods, jumps to mind.
And I mean that in all seriousness.
It is NOT the loser who needs monogamy to even have a chance at one wife who is going and doing it with dozens. Not as a rule, at least.

You just listed two different situations involving married men picking women from a lower status. The women themselves aren’t married, and that was the whole point. Who married women might choose to cheat with if in a polygamous marriage.
I can’t personally come up with any stories of women who cheated above their husband’s status level. In fact, I can’t think of many stories of women cheating. Only one coming to mind for some reason is Britney Spears cheating on Justin Timberlake, but that guy certainly wasn’t of a higher status.
But that makes sense. The other man, or other women usually is of a lowered status, because who else would put up with being shared and hidden like that? Besides, women don’t generally pick up rich and powerful men. Women are picked up by rich and powerful men.
