A new White House tradition: The Friday night Solyndra document dump
At least five times since last fall’s bankruptcy filing and FBI raid of the California solar company, the White House and other agencies have chosen to release embarrassing emails and other materials late in the afternoon as the workweek ends — a time almost guaranteed to garner the least media attention possible…
In the past year, the Justice Department has sent up Fast and Furious documents on Friday afternoons at least twice and the White House Counsel’s office has done so at least once. Reporters often get the records at about the same time.
The practice has irked some lawmakers.
“You dump them on us on Friday night so that the staff here can’t do anything with them unless they stay over the weekend and work 10, 12, 14 hours. I’ve been down that road, too,” former House Oversight and Government Reform Committee Chairman Dan Burton (R-Ind.) said during a hearing last week with Attorney General Eric Holder. (Burton led the committee during its tussles with the Clinton administration in the 1990s.)

Friday is actually multiple scandal drop day. I think Obama hopes to defuse everything by carpet bombing scandals to overrun the news.

I guess they’re worried that Drudge, talk radio, the blogosphere, and FoxNews will run with it if they released the stuff during the week. There is the alternative media to contend with and they’d rather make it as difficult on them as possible.

Please, there is nothing to see here….this administration
could be dumping BODIES Friday nights on the grounds of
the White House and it would not get news coverage…

Which is followed by the saturday morning dump while reading the news on an iPad.

At this point we expect them to dump unflattering e-mails on Friday afternoons – extra bad stuff on long weekends.
They should start mixing it up a bit.
Try Wednesday around coffee time.

Seriously. It’s not just Solyndra, Fast and Furious doc dumps also seem to come on Fridays.

They would if they could but it’s hard to do when you just want everything nice. Boehner cries at the Gerald Ford statue. I’m about to cry just thinking of how much ammo the repubs have but won’t use it. Never mind, maybe they are just keeping their powder dry for when it’s “really” needed. That’s what I hear on the Mitt threads.
