Report: Gingrich to lay out new campaign strategy tonight
Business Insider has learned that Gingrich plans to lay out a delegate-based strategy that will allow him to make good on his promise to stay in the race until the Republican National Convention this summer.
The former Speaker is also expected to announce a return to a positive campaign message, in what is likely an attempt to end the bloody interparty battle between him and Mitt Romney, the presumptive nominee.

I’ll bet you anything the presser will be more interesting than Romney’s “America is great” speech.
If Romney continues the scorched earth “we must destroy Newt/his”, then Newt should run for a 3rd party, to give Obama the re-elect and deprive Romney of his ‘glory’.

Well unless it involves travelling back in time, I’m not sure how effective it’s going to be.
cynccook on February 4, 2012 at 9:00 PM
Has he mentioned the new strategy multiple times over the last few days along with his attacked on Mitt for being rich and Obama-lite?
So basically, this is just a means to get attention besides people discussing a) the loss, b) unforced errors from his organization this week, and, c) another chance to piss off Santorum.

tend to agree with you

Ya, that makes a lot of sense if we lived in the land of dumb ideas. BTW, Newt has said (this week) he would support Romney over Obama.

Does anyone know what time the presser will be held? Thank you in advance.

Nasty Newt did not work, so now next up is the “Phony Nice” Newt.
galtani on February 4, 2012 at 9:05 PM
Newt’s strategy: have massive affairs to ensure the women will vote for me if that falls I will mandate voters to vote for me.
I have my own strategy of getting back the only true conservative;

I know. It looks like he’ll be the more manly of the two and make peace with the Romney scorched earth hyenas.

He started out not nasty at all. Your boy began the turdfest. Live with it.
Remember this, a platinum/gold sprayed horseturd wreth still stinks.

His new strategy will be to figure out how to get back to his previous existence but only making more money. His Lobbying Business, TV and Books. Beating the crap out of Romney and Santorum is not good for business.

Snort.
Newt Gingrich was never a cheery man with a head full of sunshine; he just liked attacking Obama and the media a lot more. You know, people who didn’t fight back.
To say that Romney turned Newt into the passive-aggressive politician he is now is to make Mitt Romney some kind of sorcerer.
KingGold on February 4, 2012 at 9:11 PM
If true, potentially good news. Newt will be essentially conceding he cannot beat Romney but doing the same thing Ron Paul has always done, be an advocate for fairly well defined positions.
Romney can continue to attack him personally but he will not be able to ignore substantive differences on issues between him, Obama, and if Newt talks about nothing else.
The Tea Party is looking for an advocate and a voice. Newt could become the voice of the Tea Party if he does this right.

“him, Obama, and if Newt” should be “him, Obama, and Newt if Newt”
farsighted on February 4, 2012 at 9:21 PM
His strategy better involve robbing banks and kidnapping, cause he has no money or people to compete anymore.

Damn, no Martian base then?!

Well, looks like it’ll be a publicity stunt, but if we indeed get away from the whole scorched earth style campaigning it would be nice. My fear over the last week has been that if the primary kept going like this, it’d make victory impossible for any of the candidates.
Really hope we can all just get back to slamming Obama. I mean honestly, despite the harsh sentiments this primary has induced, I still think that each of these candidates would be a real improvement over our current entertainer-and-chief.

Paul campaign puts out a robocall to supporters to roll down to Sheldon Adelson nighttime caucus. Crowds of Ron Paul supporters abound.
Sweet!

There aren’t enough crackpots who’d vote for Newt to make any difference.

He has 13,000 guaranteed votes, don’t forget.
Otherwise, no re-supply rockets!

Why do I get the feeling Newt’s new “positive message” strategy has more to do with Newt’s future earnings and exposure then winning the nomination?
lowandslow on February 4, 2012 at 10:08 PM
Perhaps I have a different view of Gingrich, but I think HE still believes that he can/will win the nomination, even if those around him know differently.

Party-pooper.
Just messing with you. Your point is well made. I don’t like Newt or Mitt but that’s the breaks.

There are a few things I disagree with Mr Romney on, I really disagree with him on his health plan, but seeing as the whole GOP had drank the cool-aid on that at the time, I can’t fault him too much on that.
Honestly though, I do like the man on a personal level. Yes I know everybody says he’s robotic, and indeed sometimes he is. At the same time he strikes me as an incredibly decent individual, and what I’ve read on his background would seem to confirm that.
I guess what I’m saying, is that its easier for me to overlook a persons shortcomings if they’re decent and honorable. Aaaaand since he’s kinda the last one standing that’s gonna have to be good enough. XD
WolvenOne on February 5, 2012 at 1:41 AM
I can’t stand Romney, and I think he’ll make a horrible nominee and a mediocre President who would damage the GOP brand if he were fortunate enough to get elected.
I’d egg Newt on if I thought he’d be any better, but I don’t. He might be a good debater, able to take down the MSN and express conservative ideas with passion and eloquence, but he’s also an angry, egotistical narcissist. Also, picking fights with the MSM is a long-term losing battle, as he should have learned when he was Speaker.
Do I even need to talk about Santorum or Paul?
We might as well face it, folks…we’re stuck with Romney this time around, the slightly-better-than-Obama candidate who will have people like me casting serious looks at third party candidates.
At this point, we should stop fighting about the presidential nomination and focus on getting as many Tea Party conservatives elected to Congress as we can – not only to get rid of Democrats, but esbalishment, career politician “Republicans,” as well – the kind who believe $300 million in spending cuts is cause for celebration and that earmarks are a fine and dandy way of holding onto political power.
Reforming this bloated, corrupt federal government won’t be easy, and it won’t be done in one or two election cycles. It’s a shame we couldn’t do better for the most important office in the land, but there’s plenty to do elsewhere that can have a huge impact.
