Massacre in Syria: “I saw bodies of women and children lying on roads beheaded”
Syrian opposition leaders raised the death toll to 260 in a military assault on Saturday on the ravaged central city of Homs, an attack that they described as the government’s deadliest in the nearly 11-month-old uprising. ..
Accounts by activists, independently basing their information on what they described as contacts in Homs, said the barrage was apparently unleashed after defectors attacked two military checkpoints and kidnapped soldiers. One activist put the number of abducted soldiers at 13, another 19. They suggested that enraged commanders then ordered the assault, which lasted from about 9 p.m. Friday to 1 a.m. Saturday, focusing on the neighborhood of Khaldiya. Five other neighborhoods were also assaulted…
“It’s a real massacre in every sense of the word,” said a resident in Khaldiya, who gave his name as Abu Jihad. “I saw bodies of women and children lying on roads beheaded. It’s horrible and inhuman. It was a long night helping people get to hospitals.”…
“The army has weapons, and the people have weapons,” one opposition activist said on condition of anonymity, recounting Saturday’s bloodshed. “Syria is finished for me. It is a civil war, and nothing will save us anymore.”

The world is not getting more civilized.

Ah yes, the ‘Arab spring’ Barry talks so much about– when corpses begin to bloom.

It is tough. There’s a lot of crap out masquerading as Cristianity, but you will find the truth in His word. Immerse yourself in it. Start with the Gospel John, then Hebrews, Ephesians and Galatians.

All these minor problems may be solved very quickly once Iran gets its nuke. Couple of booms and the whole middle east disappears.

I suppose we could send Ambassador Pelosi over in her headscarf to resolve this.
After all, she assured us Assad was a “reformer.”

I have never been a big fan of the war in Iraq, but I gotta admit, if Bush & Co. hadn’t regime changed Saddam, I doubt the Arab spring ever would have happened.
Yes, what’s happening in Syria is horrible. So was what happened in Libya. And it’s doubtful that what emerges from the Bath wreckage will look like a Western democracy, at least initially. But it’s a first step that has to happen if the Muslim nations are ever to progress beyond the middle ages.

civil war… its iraq sunni vs shia again, but without the US army in the middle.
nathor on February 4, 2012 at 11:46 AM
Great answer! An alternative start would be the Gospel of Mark, then Luke, Book of Acts, then move into Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and 1 John. Either way–you can never go wrong with the Gospels!

How soon they forget: Obama to Syrian citizens: US stands with you and Assad regime must come to an end

Russia vetoes UN action, earning the UN(useless nations) more appropriate title. At this point, it looks like Turkey will be the leader in resolving or escalating the crisis there. It is a mess.

Reminds me of all the “massacres” that weren’t when we installed an Al Qaeda government in Libya. Or all the hospital babies in Kuwait that never got killed.

The “Arab Spring” is taking them where the muslem brotherhood wants – back to the dark ages.
Islamic nations are backward and barbaric because of islam, until they throw that death cult into the ashbin of history, they will never become civilized.
Rebar on February 4, 2012 at 12:34 PM
The thing here is that this is muslim on muslim violence perpetuated by the religion of peace upon itself. There are no good guys or bad guys here, only one set of totalitarians fighting another set of religious totalitarians. As in Egypt and the other places suffering from the Arab spring, freedom isn’t the objective of these uprisings unless you call the freedom to subject yourself to a new domination by a new dictator as freedom.
Cynical as it sounds, our country needs to be looking at who is going to best support our interests because it is a given that the factions in those countries don’t have any plans to elevate the common citizens’ interests. We just need to figure out which dictator will be less bad for Western interests.

The other thing to remember is that muslims lie. Those massacres may or may not have occurred. Without an independent verification, you cannot take the word of the muslims. They will look straight into the camera saying, “I tell you the truth …” and then proceed to spin the most elaborate fairy tale with a sincere smile on their face.

davidk on February 4, 2012 at 1:11 PM
How’s this for cynical: our country only needs to involve itself just enough to contain this crap in the ME. Let them kill each other for the next 50 to 100 years. Once the population is down by 75%, the remaining 25% will be so sick of the violence, civilization will suddenly seem like a good idea…
affenhauer on February 4, 2012 at 1:14 PM
And China and Russia vetoed a resolution on Assad; no surprise there.
In Africa, it’s easy to measure the line of demarcation of spread of the jihadist movement; when the massacres go from tribal dismemberments to Islamic beheadings.

The world remains what it has been, godless
I was talking with an elderly black lady about various preachers I had been following and she said “You like them?”
I said “Yes”
She said “Read the Bible yourself and make up your own mind”
It changed my life.
The Bible is a difficult read. Try Les Feldick, a dattle rancher whose Sunday school expanded into ‘Through the Bible with Les Feldick’ on television, radio, sattelite. Stands in front of a black board, takes no money, donations go only to air time. You can come in anywhere in the lessons and you will learn to read for yourself, very quickly. No preaching. Won me over when he said prophecies of a new earth were logical because entropy was diminishing our earth. Reference the 2nd law of thermodynamics and you got me. The videos are the easiest to use. Love the guy
The 23rd psalm, “yea though I walk through the valley of death I fear no evil” is wishful thinking to the unbeliever, but it is the grandest joy to the believer. The Bible will get you through what is happening if you can learn how to read it

This is BS story to get Western intervention. This was the kind of crap they were saying about Gaddafi in Libya, until we joined the fight. Remember when black people were beheading people? BS.
