Dude?
The mystery was compounded later in the week by the report of a smaller disk-shaped object nearby. Both images are interpreted to show a rigid tail or drag marks more than 1000 feet-long. Some people have speculated these skid marks suggest that the object might have moved across the floor as it crashed.

They’re probably craters.

It’s the flying sub from the Seaview. Looks like that picture window finally gave way.

This is what happens when you try to do the Kessel Run in less than 12 parsecs.

Remember the giant shrimp? Maybe it’s just a giant crab?

I love how the article goes to great lengths to ridicule people for speculating as to what the object might be, then states that Occam’s razor means the 200ft wide object is probably just a gun turret.
A 200 foot wide gun turret from the largest warship ever built, presumably.

News for retards. Why not go down there and check it out before running a lame story like that. It’s only 300 feet down. Weak.

If it’s not an volcanic or impact crater my next guess is that it’s the drain hole.

Ill put 2 bucks on a meteorite?

Giant skid marks? Meggy Mac?
The Mega Independent on February 4, 2012 at 11:31 PM
The skid marks are probably just an illusion, material being dragged behind the object by water currents perhaps. At least that’s what the image looks like to me.
Buckshot Bill on February 4, 2012 at 11:37 PM
It could be an old volcano that had a lake of magma in the center that cooled forming harder rock than the surrounding terrain which eroded away over time leaving a round shelf comprised of the magma core.
You may be right. I had in mind ejecta from a volcano or impact but it could be caused by a shadow formed in the current allowing silt and debris to settle out, or perhaps it is caused by a slower currents resulting a slower rate of erosion.

It’s McCain’s 2008 campaign.

Well, its about time. Sent in that story days ago.
Anyone can see that its the primary hull of a Constitution class starship.
Matt Jeffries got a few things wrong. Maybe an earlier class.

They’d better be careful thawing out any intelligent carrots they might find frozen in the sea bed nearby.
profitsbeard on February 5, 2012 at 12:12 AM
the sonar scanning system that is mapping the sea flour is made up with a patchwork of snapshots. These snapshots frequently don’t line up properly and there’s distortion at the edges.

Come on! It is obviously the plug in the Earth where God inflated it!

I think that those markings are from an ancient civilization that is now underwater.

It’s the Brooks Brothers store the Titans shopped at in ancient times.

Not a UFO.
There are many sunken vessels and submarines at the bottom of the Baltic Sea. Here’s just one example:
On 30 January 1945 while evacuating civilian refugees, German soldiers and U-boat personnel, the Gustloff was sunk by a Russian submarine in the Baltic Sea. 5,348 are known dead but it has been estimated that up to 9,400 died as a result of this disaster.
