Romney staffer: “It’s not about winning here anymore. It’s about destroying Gingrich.”

Mitt Romney’s goal in Florida is no longer just winning.

After Gingrich Newt scored a surprise blow-out victory in South Carolina last week, the former Massachusetts governor not only unleashed a political broadside of epic proportions.

“It not about winning here anymore,” one Romney staffer told BuzzFeed. “It’s about destroying Gingrich — and it’s working.”

Unfortunately that described Newt Gingrich to the T in the 1990s. The guy was ruthless against his own freshmen caucus while having tingles go up his legs when he met Clinton.

Of course its about destroying Gingrich. The last thing they need is for Gingrich to me taking potshots at him during the entire primary out of spite. The Romney campaign wants to end this, they know if this goes on much longer it’ll hurt their chances of winning the general. While winning Florida all but guarantees Romney will get the nomination, it is no guarantee that Gingrich will not hang around attacking Romney for months.

The only way to guarantee Gingrich cannot do this, is to destroy him. To beat him so badly that his support outright crumbles after Florida and Nevada. Otherwise it’ll be like a repeat of the post Iowa period where Gingrich made attacks on Bain capital out of spite.

The Romney campaign cannot afford that. They need a few months downtime between the primary and the general election campaign, to repair divisions and damage caused by the primary.

Don’t mind the idiots that support Newt. The pot-bellied socialist went nasty first. His dumb ass released a video on Bain that was extremely nasty and dishonest. What the hell did his dumb ass think will happen when he went that dirty.
