Jeb Bush to Newt: Stop the ridiculous comparisons of Romney to Charlie Crist
“That’s not a serious accusation,” Bush says. “Candidates win elections. I’m not a big Charlie Crist fan, as you recall, but these guys shouldn’t have that moniker attached to them, as if Governor Romney is part of some evil plot. That’s ridiculous.”

Agreed.
Romney isn’t nearly as….orange.
JohnTant on January 27, 2012 at 1:42 PM
Yeah. Crist had MUCH better hair.
Doomberg on January 27, 2012 at 1:43 PM
Poor Romney hires every single one of Christs lackey’s and it will hurt him, so take that attack off the legitimate page and put it on the illegitimate page. Must protect Romney!
astonerii on January 27, 2012 at 1:44 PM
He’s right. Romney changed his positions on everything years ago. Crist waited til the middle of the primary. Huge difference, people(well, not really).
Doughboy on January 27, 2012 at 1:45 PM
I like that, if you read it as written it sounds like what he is saying is stop attacking Charlie Crist, cause he does not deserve to be attached to Romney.
astonerii on January 27, 2012 at 1:46 PM
I agree. Mitt doesn’t have that great orange tan!
DRayRaven on January 27, 2012 at 1:46 PM
hmm…but maybe he is….
we already know he’s a greedy capitalist pig that destroyed and picked clean perfectly good companies and hates immigrants….he could be capable of anything!
Zybalto on January 27, 2012 at 1:46 PM
Newt, on Jeb’s advice, TRIPLE the comparisons of Romney and Charlie Crist
georgealbert on January 27, 2012 at 1:46 PM
Well, hell. Jeb must be a RINO.

Oh for God’s sake…Romney was beat by McCain AND Huckabee…but now he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread.
Republicans are freakin’ idiots. I am just realizing this.
Romney’s using another loser’s advisor? Good gravy.
NJ Red on January 27, 2012 at 1:48 PM
JohnTant,
Ha, ha, ha!
I will say one way in which Romney resembles Crist.
The rap on Crist was that he only held each office to serve as a platform for his next office.
When Romney was in Utah with the Olympics there was talk about whether he’d stay and run for office there. Instead he went back to MA and ran for governor. I’ve always thought he only did so in order to position himself to run for president, thinking it was a better platform than Utah.
He chose not to run for re-election, swiveled to the right after his liberal MA days, and ran for president in 2008.
He and Crist are both opportunists in my book.
INC on January 27, 2012 at 1:49 PM
I think Mitt has better hair, but Charlie had a deeper tan.
El_Terrible on January 27, 2012 at 1:49 PM
Since Marco Rubio is clearly in Mitt’s corner, fat man is looking pretty asinine here. Sorta Palinesque.
Jailbreak on January 27, 2012 at 1:50 PM
It’s true, Romney is more akin to Obama than Crist.
lorien1973 on January 27, 2012 at 1:50 PM
He and Crist are both opportunists in my book.

Egggsactly. Looking for glory. Me Me Me…reminds me of who is in office right now.
NJ Red on January 27, 2012 at 1:51 PM
Probably a coloring book.
Jailbreak on January 27, 2012 at 1:51 PM
Romney’s banking on people being unaware of his liberal life in MA or else buying his statement he had to deal with Democrats to excuse his past. That’s not exactly being a conservative fighter.
INC on January 27, 2012 at 1:51 PM
Yeah, let’s be fair. Crist could never defend the individual mandate as well as Mitt Romney.
Lawdawg86 on January 27, 2012 at 1:53 PM
Crist was more eloquent defending his TARP support than Romney, too.
Hey, I have an idea! If we’re going to nominate a contemptible political opportunist with no principles, how about we dump Romney and nominate Crist? Sure, he quit the party, but he can always flip-flop and rejoin.
Crist 2012!!!
Crist 2012!!!
Crist 2012!!!

Bush III has spoken, “Shut Up”!
How bout Bush III “piss off”!

Charlie Crist pales in comparison with Mitt Romney.
*bows*
Christien on January 27, 2012 at 1:58 PM
Charlie Crist: “I’m a Jeb Bush Republican.”
If I were Bush, I wouldn’t want Newt to compare someone to Crist who compared themselves to me.
joekenha on January 27, 2012 at 1:58 PM
At least Crist had the integrity to admit that he had no integrity, drop out of the party, and run as a Democrat (or something). When Romney does that, we’ll see if he can compare favorably with Crist.
joe_doufu on January 27, 2012 at 2:00 PM
Romney never hitched his wagon to Obama’s popularity the way Crist did.
Caiwyn on January 27, 2012 at 2:02 PM
Romney endorsed Rubio agianst crist before newt did.
ryandan on January 27, 2012 at 2:06 PM
“Wahhh, let Romney say anything. He is the prince”.
NO more Bushs, Clintons, Kennedys or Obamas!
Schadenfreude on January 27, 2012 at 2:07 PM
When will Jeb Bush call Mitt out for his lie that Newt resigned in disgrace? why the truth doesn’t matter in that case?
evergreenland on January 27, 2012 at 2:10 PM
Only because he was running for the GOP nomination. If he had been running for office in MA, he would have. Anyone who would say “I’m no Reagan Republican” and attempt running to Ted Kennedy’s left would.
DRayRaven on January 27, 2012 at 2:11 PM
Hitched? Crist crawled up inside and camped out.
roy_batty on January 27, 2012 at 2:14 PM
Yep. Just another silver spoon rushing to protect privilege for Little Lord Fauntleroy. Membership has its responsibilities, in addition to its privileges.
Christien on January 27, 2012 at 2:15 PM
FIFY.
Bill C on January 27, 2012 at 2:16 PM
Unfortunate for Mitt in ’94 was to discover Ted’s Left was both fat and wide.
roy_batty on January 27, 2012 at 2:17 PM
Go away, Jeb.
kunegetikos on January 27, 2012 at 2:19 PM
@evergreenland
Newt was no help in 1998 elections as he was having an affair while preaching morality on lewinsky. He came off hypocritical. Newt didn’t have the votes to survive as speaker and had to resign.
With Newt as speaker in 1998 Gop lost seats in the house in the sixth year of presidency which is almost unheard of for the opposition party to do. Think of how well the dems did in bush’s midterm during his second term. First time ever an opposition party lost seats in the sixth year of a presidency. Gepheardt very nearly became speaker.
ryandan on January 27, 2012 at 2:19 PM
GOP lost five house seats in 1998 the worst midterm performance for an opposition party in 64 years.
Gingrich doesn’t talk about that. We hear about the clinton economy from gingrich when the gdp in the last year of bush sr’s term was 4.7 percent.
ryandan on January 27, 2012 at 2:22 PM
Why should Jeb go away? He was a very popular and successful governor who had every opportunity to continue on in electoral politics and chose to walk away. His still a well liked and well respected figure in his state. Why shouldn’t he share his views about these things?
dczombie on January 27, 2012 at 2:24 PM
Mitt Romney isn’t gay, but other than that it is a fair comparision. Actually Charlie Crist’s record as Governor was no doubt to the right of a Top 10 RINO of 2005, Willard the Lying Liberal Republican.
CoolChange80 on January 27, 2012 at 2:25 PM
Jeb Bush will never be president and neither will Mitt Romney! Conservatives are going to strike back hard at Romney and those that threw in with him! Romney will kill the GOP. There will be a new party in america led by Conservatives.
CoolChange80 on January 27, 2012 at 2:27 PM
NRO throws in with liars!

CoolChange80 on January 27, 2012 at 2:29 PM
Ok….
How are conservatives going to strike back at Romney? By staying home and not voting for him if he’s the nominee? If that’s your plan, that sounds less like striking back at Romney and more like striking back at America by thrusting another four years of Obama on us.
dczombie on January 27, 2012 at 2:35 PM
It’s a totally bogus and deeply unfair comparison.
Romney is more like ET than Crist.
I just hope he keeps his distance from Chris Christie in case Christie’s feeling peckish and just eats him.

You and this country deserve another four years of Prince Zero, the Phony King of America, if you nominate Mitt “You will be assimilated” Rombot. Sorry but nominating a liberal republican to face an uber liberal democractic socialist is hardly a winning recipe, especially when a large chunk of the core of your party wants to go in a COMPLETELY different direction. Spit on the masses at your own peril.

Not just another, just a whole slew of them and no TP/conservative advisors.
