Scarborough: Conservative leaders all tell me they want a brokered convention
WILLIE GEIST: Given everything you’ve said, do you think Newt Gingrich could become the Republican nominee for president, or is it still Mitt Romney’s?
JOE SCARBOROUGH: I think, and this is my opinion, I think Newt–something’s happened here, by the way–there’s a reason why–remember after Iowa I said that if Mitt wins Iowas there’s going to be a revolt among conservatives?–well Newt is the vessel that people like Sarah Palin and others who want a brokered convention are riding right now. And they want to keep this going. And when it looks like Newt gets a little ahead, they’ll find another vessel. The Republicans–I’ve said it before–they want a brokered convention. And Newt is the next step there. Do you guys think, have you guys heard, has anybody said in the Republican establishment, “man, I want Newt to be our nominee”?

Time to switch to Decaf. BTW, a brokered convention gave us Lincoln
ConservativePartyNow on January 20, 2012 at 1:35 PM
Yeah, even that left rag the WSJ is looking into Mitt’s financial holdings and finding some highly “unorthodox” IRAs: http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052970204468004577168972507188592.html?mod=WSJ_hp_LEFTTopStories
That kind of stuff looks bad on its face, and there is likely more to follow. Mitt should stop stonewalling and release his tax returns. It would likely show that whatever transfers he made into the IRA were above the board, and it will nip in the bud any future speculative controversy about other “unorthodox” holdings that he may have.

Consrvative leaders tell me Scarborough isn’t really a conservative.

And the primary process gave us McCain.

More from Palin’s self-serving Iowa speech:
Why is she supporting Newt again?:
Populist crap from the “reformer” who took on “Big Oil”:

A brokered convention would get you a nominee like Haley “Pardons” Barbour or Mike “I need a job” Castle, or someone else the Rove clan feels they can control.
james23 on January 20, 2012 at 1:43 PM
The GOP can be just as bad at picking winners and losers (crony capitalism) as the Dems. If that’s an attack in your mind then I know why your a Romney supporter.
CTSherman on January 20, 2012 at 1:43 PM
I agree with every word Palin said….
and why did Romney use the term crony capitalism last night?

This thread is a good example of how stupid Hot Air has become. “Sarah Palin signle handedly lost John McCain the election.” really? you are going to waste my time posting idiocy like that? Did you hear about the financial crisis? Lehman Brothers? Losing 750,000 jobs a month? an unpopular war in Iraq? incumbent fatigue with George W. Bush? the game changer of suspending his campaign to go to Washington to vote for TARP? None of those things factored into any voters’ decision? It was single handedly the Vice Presidential nominee? Did you not notice the only time he was ahead was the period between September 4 to September 15, i.e., after her convention speech and before his bungling of the financial crisis? (not that a Republican could win with a Republican incumbent president and a economy with -6% GDP growth as it was in the fall of 2008). You have polluted the internet with toxic levels of stupid. Go away.

If the GOP tries to slip in an establishment guy like Daniels in a broker convention then I’m done with the GOP, and I really don’t think I’ll be the only one. We’ll see if the they’ve really become that short sighted.

Scar wouldn’t know a conserative if it bit him in the arse.

Buy Danish supports Crony Capitalism.
That’s all that really needs to be said…
Dack Thrombosis on January 20, 2012 at 1:52 PM
I wouldn’t consider Meghan McCain a conservative leader. If you think people are upset with all the Mitt shilling, it will cause a civil war if they feel the GOP is trying to hijack the process.
Southernblogger on January 20, 2012 at 1:56 PM
you may want to ask the Romney campaign for a few days off. You appear to have lost your grip completely.

Wow!!! That’s incredible!!
How did this not make the Nightline interview?
JohnGalt23 on January 20, 2012 at 2:03 PM
Why is this a Palin thread? We all know BD has a terminal case of PDS. This is about a brokered convention, and whether that would be a good or bad thing.
I like it, personally, but then anything that ends the “Mitt Inevitability” meme is good in my book. the man will be a disaster as president and will hurt the national GOP the same way he hurt the Mass. GOP.
alwaysfiredup on January 20, 2012 at 2:06 PM
total BS. He also never asked for an “open marriage”, didn’t ask his first wife for a divorce while she was in the hospital with cancer, and didn’t ask Marianne for a divorce upon her diagnosis with MS. These are sleazy and false attacks.
alwaysfiredup on January 20, 2012 at 2:07 PM
The Romney supporters are furious with Palin because after she quit the race, they expected her to get in line. Instead, she endorsed Newt, who they are also currently furious with for interfering with Romney’s coronation.
I just can’t imagine why Palin would back Newt (someone who was always gracious to her) over people who denigrated and ripped her to shreds for three years. I mean, everyone knows the best way to make friends and influence people is work publicly to destroy them!
Doomberg on January 20, 2012 at 2:10 PM
Brokered convention? Yeah, right.
This is a fanciful topic HA marches out when they don’t have any recent quotes from Meghan McCain.

Why would anyone who claims to resent “elites” want a “brokered” convention?
Seth Halpern on January 20, 2012 at 2:35 PM
Oh, she’s very clever and doesn’t mention any names. But here it is (again):
Note that ACE went after her for this too…
Did Palin knew about this or is she on a fishing expedition? April is plenty of time before the general election. Why should Romney have to meet a different standard?
Please provide evidence that Mitt is a crony capitalist. Thanks in advance! The one person (other than possibly Rick Perry with Merck – although I didn’t think that was a fair attack) is Newt Gingrich who profited from is relationship with a government entity, Freddie Mac. Why is Palin supporting him again?
Of course you do- it’s like a reading of the gospel for you. She didn’t invent the term. Obama is guilty a thousand times over of this. Why doesn’t she focus her attention there instead of making unsubstantiated allegations at our team? She has yet to name one fracking thing our candidates done to deserve this.
I oppose unsubstantiated allegations. I oppose Crony Capitalism. Apparently you and your pals are cool with using innuendo to taint people without a shred of evidence. Witness the email rumor on this thread. I am one of Palin’s harshest critics yet I never did that to her. It’s oh so ironic that any criticism of Palin is greeted with a chorus of screaming harpies but she can dish out unadulterated crap and she’s treated like a “true conservative” heroine.

Of course he will. They blame her for everything. They blame her for the Sun being too hot. They blame her for the heavy snow. They blame her for there being 24hrs in a day, 7days in week, 4weeks in a month, 12months in a year. They blame her for breathing. They blame her for being Todd Palin’s wife. They blame her being Trig’s mom. They blame, blame, blame, blame Sarah Palin.
