I don’t think so, Mr. “IconstantlymisrepresentdatainserviceofSt.Palin”.
“Catholic Charities affiliates received a total of nearly $2.9 billion a year from the government in 2010, about 62 percent of its annual revenue of $4.67 billion. Only 3 percent came from churches in the diocese (the rest came from in-kind contributions, investments, program fees and community donations).”
It’s JANUARY. Santorum was in Perry’s place a mere week ago and now look at his numbers. I’ve been following politics since I was thirteen, I’ve seen how these things can change overnight.
I have a little theory that a lot of the former Palin fans are refusing to support Perry, and Bachman when she was still in, because they thought Perry and Bachman “betrayed” Palin by getting in.
I do think if Palin had got in, she could be the frontrunner, despite all the talk of polarization. This is a weak field.

Ok, Aslans Girl, I’m not anti-Perry. I probably prefer him to anybody else. If I still lived in SC, I would probably vote for him. But if he doesn’t do well in SC, it’s over for him. I think he has to win there, or at least 2nd and beat Romney.
My little jokes come from a good place. I like you or I wouldn’t tease you.
For being so much smarter than I am, why did you quote me and then pretend that I claimed you werer anti-Perry? You did the same thing last night or the other day. I’ve never claimed you were. Your reading comprehension isn’t very impressive, I must say.
I think they’ll ask us back. They are already crumbling.
Oh and I’m no neo-con – I’m just a realist.
gophergirl on January 8, 2012 at 8:09 PM
This is where you are wrong. They never asked us to be there in the first place…..
social-justice on January 8, 2012 at 8:12 PM
Well, you seem a bit confused. The government, under Saddam, violated the terms of their cease-fire agreement. That is why we invaded, in the first place, and then when Saddam was deposed, they elected a new, sovereign government. While Bush was in office, there was talk of withdrawing, and the Iraqi government didn’t want us to leave, until their security forces were trained.
Are you uninformed, or are you a liar? Or just an idiot, perhaps?

Well, I usually talk to about 10 people at the same time, so I am guilty of scanning people’s posts quickly and sometimes i miss stuff.
Catholic Charities is a non-profit organization. Those government funds supported the programs they provide services for, such as foster care and social services related to adoptions. They did so under strict control of the state of Illinois as to how they could utilize those funds. There is no PROFIT made by the agency, and you are a dishonest piece of garbage.
I think a lot of the former Palin supporters hate Perry and Bachman because they were closer to Palin’s niche. Matt Lewis talks about this today in his column…he calls it “turf war”.
They rather see somebody othre than Perry and Bachman win only because they think those two candidates screwed over Palin, even though they probalby agree with Perry and Bachman more than other candidates.
I think that I’ve made a persausive case that Romney did not govern as a conservative in Mass. It doesn’t really matter to his supporters because they are either moderates or voting for him b/c they think only he has a prayer against the Greatest President Ever in Obama.
Ron Paul is in the House of Representives. He had the opportunity to vote against it, that is, to formally oppose it. You are trying to pull a fast one here, by trying to get people to sign on to your assumptions.
JannyMae on January 8, 2012 at 10:10 PM
Maybe he didn’t return to cast one of a few dissenting votes, I’m not sure, but he was against the NDAA. If the rest of the R candidates had come out against it too then it probably wouldn’t have passed the House.
No one did Palin in. She decided not to run before Perry entered. All else is futile blathering.
Schadenfreude on January 8, 2012 at 10:45 PM
I don’t have an opinion on that one way or another. I’m just theorizing that a lot of Palin supporters are refusing to support Perry because they think he sabatoged/betrayed her. Their logic is if Palin doesn’t get it, we won’t let Perry get it either. I don’t subscribe to that kind of thinking but people have the right to vote the way they want.
I coined the term ‘bitter Palinistas’ several months ago and ascribed the Not-Romney Not-Gingrich candidate surges to them.
They are a vocal committed lot that influence polls, which help to set media narratives, which in turn shape the election.
They are having tantrums because of Palin but it is the entire conservative movement that will suffer for it.
TheRightMan on January 9, 2012 at 12:10 AM
Well I think the counter to that is Perry as been lousy thus far, and I could call you a bitter Perryista who wants to blame Palin and her supporters for Perry’s inability to promote himself effectively.
Blowback

Perry doesn’t like self promotion. I understand that. I think that reflects well on him as a person.
But we need a candidate that has a big enough ego that he will tout himself, even if most of it is embellishment and white lies.

You are wrong. You said that CC receives billions from ILLINOIS. The numbers you are citing are nationwide.

But have you noticed that I’ve been the biggest most effective Romney critic on Hotair?
I’m just saying he talked a good game last night and I conceded that he could be an excellent liar.
Dr. Tesla on January 8, 2012 at 10:32 PM
Most people can’t lie with confidence. If Romney was lying last night, he did it without confidence.
People always said clinton was a good liar but he never was, everybody knew when he was lying and plus the media would spin for him.
I’m just saying, Romney’s ability to lie with confidence is remarkable if he was lying last night about his views on social issues.

What’s the story about Perry and Gingrich and the Virginia ballot?
Any chance they will make the ballot there now?
I don’t see how they can beat Romney in the long haul if they are spotting him Virginia’s delegates. But who knows?

I think the reason we saw the Gingrich/Cain/Santorum surges is they are the Not Romney and the Not-Bachman and Not-Perry candidates.
I think my Palin supporter theory is true, they don’t like Romney but they are holding a grudge against Bachman and Perry.
She has influenced this race even by staying out and not endorsing anybody.

We were also always told by wise pundits that Palin had a vocal, but very tiny group of supporters.
Surely they couldn’t have hurt Perry that much but not jumping on his bandwagon.

Could it be because Perry is a political whore?
