The Blaze
Girl Scouts book promotes Media Matters as trustworthy source to clear up “misinformation”
The Internet is a breeding ground for “urban legends,” which are false stories told as if true. Next time you receive a txt or e-mail about something that seems unbelievable, confirm it before you spread it.
The fact-checking site snopes.com investigates everything from urban legends to “news” articles and posts its findings. Media Matters for America (http://mediamatters.org/) gets the word out about media misinformation.

Media Matters is a joke.

Nothing means anything anymore. That is, you can longer equate “x=conservative” with x being a traditionally conservative organization or profession.. The Left has infiltrated every corner of society.

It’s the modern Girl Scouts; what do you expect?
I do wonder if this sort of thing was what Ms. Low envisioned for the future of her program?
Reminds me a bit of the YMCA; excuse me, theY.
Good grief.

Ted Nugent did a “Girl Scout Cookies” song a few years back, but this totally different original by NRBQ is still the best…

I don’t think this should come as a surprise. After all, any group in bed with Planned Parenthood can’t really be trusted.

This should give me the will power to say no to the cookies. They’re bad for me anyway.

Apparently, whoever edited the pamphlet didn’t bother to read it and validate the sources of info, as advised.
I mean, MediaMatters.Soros … c’mon.

Because of stomach problems, I can no longer eat these. Please, savor some for me, so that I might vicariously enjoy them.
Thank you…

My girls were the right age, but never much liked them. So grateful! Now…’My Size Barbie’. That was different! What was even more of a blessing is that the girls chose to put their own clothes on them. A huge savings!

I think they meant snopes.com
John the Libertarian on December 28, 2011 at 4:42 PM
Are they made from real girl scouts?
Fallon on December 28, 2011 at 4:43 PM
I suppose we all agree that snopes.com is highly questionable as well.
starlj on December 28, 2011 at 4:44 PM
It’s part of the left’s march through the institutions. They have succeeded where outright revolution has failed.
Time to take it back. Parents, read what your kids are getting in school and clubs.
PattyJ on December 28, 2011 at 4:47 PM
Great, now to decide whether boycotting indoctrination is worth giving up thin mints. Well, a boycott will help me lose my spare tire, I suppose.
WingedPanther73 on December 28, 2011 at 4:50 PM
Does it give those girls a cell phone to attach to their ear too?
If you are going to make girls stupid, you might as well go ahead and give them all the tools.
Moesart on December 28, 2011 at 4:50 PM
Sounds like the Girl Scouts want to stay in the Lamestream’s good graces. They saw what happened to the Boy Scouts.
When was the last time you saw a Boy Scout represented in a movie? Exactly. Hollywood hates the Boy Scouts. Girl Scouts seem willing to curry favor to the left with no regard for HONESTY.
Capitalist Hog on December 28, 2011 at 4:53 PM
Why would you presuppose that? If you’re making the charge please submit some verifiable evidence.
Media Matters is a hardcore political propaganda tool. Snopes is a tool for tools who can’t figure out that the Internet doesn’t make things true.
Capitalist Hog on December 28, 2011 at 4:56 PM
It’s obvious that self-sufficiency has now become verboten.
starlj on December 28, 2011 at 4:57 PM
The Girl Scouts are in bed with Planned Parenthood. Considering they have a leadership that condones and promotes such a vile relationship, listing Media Matters as a reliable source fits perfectly with their depraved worldview. Parents, keep your children far away from the Girl Scouts.

Will do. Do you want me to let you know when you are in a state of vicariousness, or would you rather be left unaware of it?
Dusty on December 28, 2011 at 5:02 PM
I suppose, not presuppose because I ‘snope’ around. Snopes is no more the final arbiter of the veracity of ‘the Internet’ stories than anyone else who claims to be.
Trust, but verify. And snopes.com ain’t it for me. If it is for you…then, by all means, go with it.

Next: Girl Scouts join union and threaten to beat people up if they don’t buy cookies.
darwin on December 28, 2011 at 5:09 PM
I don’t disagree.
That said, in Spy Game (2000) (starring Robert Redford and Brad Pitt), Pitt is cast as a Boy Scout who volunteered for service in the Vietnam War. Having learned how to shoot in the Boy Scouts, he serves as a sniper and, indeed, takes out an enemy leader and helps rescue his spotter who was injured in the aftermath of the kill.
During the search and evacuation, Redford from the helicopter has a great line when they turn back to pick up Pitt and the spotter after nearly leaving them behind: “Helluva an ad for the Boy Scouts.”
Later in the movie, Redford has another favorable remark about Pitt’s undercover role as a photo journalist in the Middle East while he served in the CIA. In the movie, Pitt’s character turned out to be a decent photographer, prompting Redford to say that “there was probably a merit badge for photography in his drawer at home.”
BuckeyeSam on December 28, 2011 at 5:11 PM
And by the way, Hog, I go to snopes for information on urban myths and stupid e-mails. They should stay clear of politically oriented debunking. That’s what my smell-o-meter indicates to me.
starlj on December 28, 2011 at 5:13 PM
I made no claim as to my sources. I only asked you to support your claim. Thanks.
I need a shower after reading that sentence. I won’t be eating dinner now.
