Gay Iowan: Gingrich told me to vote for Obama; Update: Video added
“I asked him if he’s elected, how does he plan to engage gay Americans. How are we to support him? And he told me to support Obama,” said Scott Arnold, an associate professor of writing at William Penn University.”…
“It doesn’t inspire hope at all,” Arnold said of Gingrich’s statements. “And if that’s what he’s trying to do and that’s what he’s trying to say, that this is a collective effort if he’s elected president, yet he tells me to support the other side?”
Update: Not surprisingly, the DMR wildly exaggerated what Gingrich said. Watch the clip.

Sorry. I should have added that I’m sure not every person who pushes for gay marriage has that motivation.

Whast is the connection between gun rights and Role Playing Games?
Heh heh

Good grief, Obama is not even for gay marriage!!!! I am gay and gay marriage being recognized by the every state and the federal government is not the issue that earn my vote. Any gay couple today can find a pastor of some faith that who will marry them. The marriage just won’t be recognized by every state in the United States.

I may be even more in the minority, then. I’m of a mind that government should get out of marriage altogether. Civil unions for all, including all legal/tax benefits therein. Whoever wants to get said union blessed/sanctioned by a church of their choosing and call it marriage, then so be it.
The argument about the sanctity of marriage I just can’t take seriously anymore. That sanctity was tarnished long ago.
So that guy the other day who came out saying that Newt had to apologize and ask forgiveness to win over evangelical women? To him I would ask how Newt is any different from thousands – millions – of other church-going men (and church leaders) who have done the exact same thing and worse. My parents were heavily involved in church when I was a child, so by default I was as well. The wide majority of the married couples they were friends with then are now divorced, and it’s shocking how many disintegrated after 20, 30+ years together.
I’ve no doubt that folks still hold marriage as a sacrosanct vow, but marriage in general hasn’t been that way in a long time imo.

Newt mocks marriage. Callista Gingrich will NEVER be FLOTUS. She slept with a married man for years and years. She won’t make it. He won’t make it.
He’s done.

We actually agree 100% on the issue.
That said, I think the fact that we’re even discussing an issue about the sanctity of marriage, and discussing Newt, is a cauldron of irony.

This is progress. Awesome.
The wedding industry should start pushing this. Weddings are money. They can provide great profit margins. Double the weddings = more money.
Regardless of the business opportunities, it is a great step toward kicking big gov out of your home.

Boy oh boy. This thread really brought the special rights crowd out of the hot gas closet.
Now if only they would all be consistent with their elitest foundations, they would all go hang out at the leftist websites.
But no, they will stay here and pretend that adopting a few conservative points here and there makes them into conservatives. The truth is that real conservatives honor and respect our traditions, recognize what makes our country exceptional, and don’t want to assist a small minority into feeling good about their anti-social behaviors.
However, most likely we will continue to be subjected to the tail trying to wag the dog and complaining when the dog doesn’t go along.

Anybody telling everybody what a “real conservative” is a joke. The fact that you throw down your “real conservative” straw/camel’s back retort in this case is laughable.
Newt is slimy. He has no business telling anybody how to live or fornicate. Rick Santorum has MILES and MILES of credibility on this issue. Newt has nothing but an adulterous wife and pile of money that he’s too whiny to acknowledge as having earned.
I WILL NEVER apologize for one dollar I make. Newt does.
Face it. I’m biased against the man. If Rick Santorum did this, I’d applaud him — because I BELIEVE HIM.
Newt lies to get laid. Mr. Cain is ten times the man he is. Rick Santorum has ten times the morals. Bachmann has ten times the courage. Even Ron Paul has bigger clankers than ol’ Newtie.
