Obama hoping to channel … Teddy Roosevelt?
Obama will travel to Osawatomie, Kansas and a White House press release indicates the site was chosen in part because Roosevelt once spoke there.
“Just over one hundred years ago, President Teddy Roosevelt came to Osawatomie, Kansas and called for a New Nationalism, where everyone gets a fair chance, a square deal, and an equal opportunity to succeed,” the White House release states.
“The President will talk about how he sees this as a make-or-break moment for the middle class and all those working to join it. He’ll lay out the choice we face between a country in which too few do well while too many struggle to get by, and one where we’re all in it together – where everyone engages in fair play, everyone does their fair share, and everyone gets a fair shot,” it states.

First he channelled Lincoln by announcing his candidacy in Springfied, IL. Then he was channeling FDR with Porkulus. Now it’s Teddy Roosevelt. Is there a Oiuja board in the White House family quarters?
He either has no personality of his own, or he doesn’t want people to see what a narcisissist Alinksyite he really is.

This appears to be missing from Roosevelt’s theme. But then Roosevelt probably wasn’t much of a socialist. Or Bolshevik, as Teddy probably called them.

President Bull Moose, meet the President whose wife has the butt of a bull moose.
Okay, that’s mean, but I just woke up.

Theodore (the good cousin Roosevelt was one of the best Republican presidents. Are there no good Democrat presidents to emulate? I thought not.

Teddy was the father of progressivism. Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt Political party: Progressive Party (1912–1916) Obama is a proud progressive, he’s stated as much, progressivism is his ideology – Democrat is his brand.
It is odd though, Obama ran as a blank movie screen, when he was running for President in 2008, so people could project on to him. Obama has channeled Lincoln, Reagan, and now Teddy, all Republicans.
The only way Obama thinks he can win reelection is to channel a strong Republican President? This is what happens when you run as a cipher a cult of personality – it’s all superficial there is no there – there. You have to play dress up, and put on the costume of a successful Republican president. That’s just sad, Obama knows we are a right to center country so he will try to buffalo us into believing he’s somehow relatable to popular Republican Presidents.
There are progressives in both parties, Republican and Democrat, have become brands it’s the ideology inside the two parties, that are effecting the direction of the country. Right now the progressives as in the new left are in leadership positions, and setting our agenda. Obama: We are going to fundamentally transform the country. Truer words have never been spoken, they are going to change it into the progressive’s own Fabian utopia whether we like it or not SEE Obamacare. Unless the American people wake up, and throw them out of power.

Oh Lord, could we be so lucky as to have Obama put on brand new hunting clothes, go to Ohio and ask, “Where can I git me a huntin’ license?” like Kerry did?

…and everyone will do… fair. Not good, not great. Those aren’t allowed. Fair is, well, fair.

..well, brace yourself. The next two-and-one-half weeks he will be channeling King Kamehameha by vacationing in the Hawaiian Islands on our dime.
OOoooh, I cannot wait for the obligatory glistening man-boob shots of him body surfing at Sandy Beach. Hope a shark biter off his wiener.

Is he going to charge up San Juan hill wearing his daughter’s bike helmet and Michelle’s jeans?
Actually, it’s appropriate that he’s trying to channel the first Progressive president.

Progressive meant something else in the era of Teddy Roosevelt. Old Teddy used the American military to support a coup in Panama that allowed Panama leave Columbia in order to build the Panama Canal. He also sent the American fleet around the world in order to show off American Naval power. It was called the Great White Fleet. When Obama first got in office he went around the world on his great “Apology Tour” ………….. apologizing for a lot of what Teddy Roosevelt would have approved.

Yes, and Obama bails them out in return for political support
Solyndra was a pretty fair deal for Solyndra
Teddy Roosevelt had a decent streak. When a bear was tied to a tree so he could shoot it, he refused, on the basis it wasn’t sporting, thus the origin of ‘Teddy Bear’ in our lexicon.
When the BP oils spill occurred, Obama would not empower FEMA to engage in handling the spill. FEMA is authorized to handle natural disasters, but a President can override the mandate, as Bush did when the WTC was attacked. The only reason I can find to not bring in FEMA was an intent to maximize the environmental damage for political purposes. What would old TR have done?
Wonder what Teddy Roosevelt would have said about Obama’s handling of the Black Panther voter intimidation case?
Hard to imagine T. Roosevelt endorsing Obama. Even harder to imagine Obama gives a rats axe about the old Rough Rider of San Juan Hill.

Sorry, I forgot he was also channeling Harry Truman this election year, too, running against a “do nothing Congress.”
But he is not channeling the “Buck stops here” Truman, as any mistakes are always someone else’s fault. Bush, Congress, Israel, lazy Americans, campaign staffers….

If you’re wondering what the phrase “New Nationalism” refers to, here ya go. If you think it is anything like “American Exceptionalism”, think again.
At least we can give T.R. somewhat of a pass as his ideas predated the Soviet Union and Mao’s China, and the subsequent death, starvation and tyranny this ideology unleashed upon the world, but O has no excuse.
