Energy Secretary Steven Chu to take full responsibility for Solyndra
“As the Secretary of Energy, the final decisions on Solyndra were mine, and I made them with the best interest of the taxpayer in mind,” Chu has written in testimony prepared for his first appearance before Congress to answer questions about the failed loan.
“I want to be clear: over the course of Solyndra’s loan guarantee, I did not make any decision based on political considerations,” says Chu’s prepared testimony, which was made public by his aides late Wednesday. “My decision to guarantee a loan to Solyndra was based on the analysis of experienced professionals and on the strength of the information they had available to them at the time.”

So he is going to reimburse us taxpayers out of his own wallet?
NotCoach on November 17, 2011 at 9:20 AM
What about the decision to pressure them to delay layoffs til after the midterms? Who made that call? How was that not 100% political? What about the other green energy companies that received billions in taxpayer dollars and have connections to Obama? And most importantly, are you going to resign?
Doughboy on November 17, 2011 at 9:21 AM
Cribbing notes from Wonderboy’s speeches, huh?

Fire him, and ‘O’ should go too.
Ha! I could not keep from laughing at what I said..

So the picture of 0bama visiting Solyndra is a mere coincidence, and he lets you choose his energy policies? /sarc
DannoJyd on November 17, 2011 at 9:22 AM
At least this administration is consistent. In the face of overwhelming evidence they tell you your eyes are lying and you should believe them. Solid B+

Falling on the sword for the greater glory of Rome….
You know with this and the BP spill, this should be two disasters on Chu. Nice appointment there, Obama.
Obama didn’t fail! His hand-picked, ivy-league, (gotta-have-em) super-intellectual advisers DID!

Has anyone investigated SolarCity yet? That whole deal reeks.

IT’s almost as though Obama appointed completely incompetant, inexperienced people to multiple important positions so that when Obama’s caught doing something shady/flat out illegal, he has plenty of n00bs to blame it on.
Naaaaah.

Fine. Show him the door.

Big deal.

Don’t let the door hit Chu in the azz on the way out!

Should have gone under the bus the day before OWS Chu. Now you’re going to have lice.
forest on November 17, 2011 at 9:39 AM
No way he be allowed to take the heat for Obama on this… Repubs in Congress should consider this attempt to shield Obama as a non-starter and they should say so loudly and publicly
georgealbert on November 17, 2011 at 9:39 AM
The Lie.
The amount given to Solyndra was the amount of their past losses, so…
- the balance sheet could be cleaned up and look healthy
- the IPO could proceed
- Dem investors profit!!!

The wheels on the bus
Go thump-a-da-bump-bump,

“I take full responsibility” is just empty words to Dems. They never get fired or leave.
Remember how Janet Reno “took full responsiblity” for the Branch Davidian mess? And then just stayed in office?
Wethal on November 17, 2011 at 9:42 AM
So when does he submit his resignation letter?
Otherwise, “take full responsibility” just means “cover for the boss”
uknowmorethanme on November 17, 2011 at 9:45 AM
That’s why they created Firefox and the AdBlock Plus add-on.
uknowmorethanme on November 17, 2011 at 9:45 AM
He is just agreeing to be thrown under the bus,.
Responsibility? That would entail repayment of the money and I don’t think that is possible.
esnap on November 17, 2011 at 10:01 AM
The worst that ever happens is they resign and go back to their comfortable little nest. How about putting someone in prison for corruption?
a capella on November 17, 2011 at 10:03 AM
I hear he will be sharing an office with former ATF Director Melson.
roy_batty on November 17, 2011 at 10:03 AM
At some point is the phrase, “I take full responsibility” actually going to MEAN anything? For decades now just saying that phrase seems to be all the punishment required when they screw up (ie: get caught).

Sorry, Mr. Chu. I don’t think Issa is going to just let you fall on your sword. Me thinks he’s looking for higher decision makers.
Tennman on November 17, 2011 at 10:39 AM
I sure hope so. Raise the stink to high heaven. Show the whole world what a bunch of classless people all of them are.
Mirimichi on November 17, 2011 at 10:52 AM
“Full responsibility” means nothing without resigning and then testifying under oath. Lying there will get you jail time and a big fat fine. Don’t worry, Chu, ØBlama will pardon you after conviction, really he will, trust him, you know you can, right?
ExpressoBold on November 17, 2011 at 10:55 AM
He commits Seppuku for Obama.
portlandon on November 17, 2011 at 11:00 AM
Whew….. Well, I’m glad we resolved that. 0bama is off the hook now, since clearly he had no role in this scandal, right?
Just like the no-bid contract to the smallpox drug maker. Nothing to see there, either. Move right along, folks!
UltimateBob on November 17, 2011 at 11:15 AM
“Taking full responsibility” implies some action on his part, like resigning in disgrace. He isn’t going to do that, so these are just empty words.
Plus, like the other Obama cabinet members who have been caught flat-out in wrongdoing (e.g., Holder), he’s still denying doing things (like acting for Obama’s political best interests, rather than the nation’s best interests) that his own documents prove he did.
AZCoyote on November 17, 2011 at 11:16 AM
Sooo….
You’re fired for incompetence.

albill on November 17, 2011 at 11:31 AM
Of course this man will not pay back a single dime of the millions he helped embezzle unless and until he is forced to.
No liberal has ever taken personal responsibility for anything. That’s pretty much the definition of the word liberal. They can be HELD responsible for their actions – such as when they are sent to prison. But that’s it.
logis on November 17, 2011 at 11:43 AM
Chinese don’t generally subscribe to the concept of Seppuku.
mojo on November 17, 2011 at 1:27 PM
Like Janet Reno before Steven Chu, politicians take fully responsibility only if there are no consequences for doing so.
