Jay-Z to sell OWS t-shirts — and keep profits for himself
The Business Insider noted the “irony” in that Jay-Z has no intention to distribute any of the proceeds to protestors.
A Rocawear spokesperson told the publication: “The ‘Occupy All Streets’ T-shirt was created in support of the ‘Occupy Wall Street’ movement. Rocawear strongly encourages all forms of constructive expression, whether it be artistic, political or social. ‘Occupy All Streets’ is our way of reminding people that there is change to be made everywhere, not just on Wall Street. At this time we have not made an official commitment to monetarily support the movement.”

Good. He knows his market – Liberal white kids who are desperate to be ‘hip’.
The only entrepreneur I can think of who is better at fleecing liberal idiots is Arianna Huffington, and maybe Michael Moore.

Nothing is stopping the diseased hippies from making and selling their own t-shirts and keeping the profits. Why does everyone else have to invest their own money and time and give the bums the profits?
Blake on November 12, 2011 at 8:38 AM
Hey, profits are evil. Good thing he’s shielding everyone else from them…

If you recall Beyoncee and Jay-Z sitting in the White House – what was it, War Room? – mugging for the cameras, this all makes sense. Jay-Z is using it for re-election campaign purposes, no other. He doesn’t give a damn about those freezing slobs.

Good for him. And issue a brutal irony alert to the OWS cockroaches.

Look! I’m not racist. I can buy and wear a rapper’s Tshirt. I must be cool, must be hip, and what better way to bling yourself out in a rage against the man than by wearing a tshirt made by a cool rapper who’s going to keep all the profits…for…himsel….oh wait a sec??

Is he going to release a rap “R u down with TB, (yeah you know me)”
ted c on November 12, 2011 at 9:10 AM
If he really wants to make a mint, he should put out a line of OWS lice combs.
Jim Treacher on November 12, 2011 at 9:17 AM
Especially if they can make a quick buck off of a group of naive protestors.
And more power to Rocawear. But I wish someone would explain to the OWSers what is happening when their parents’ money begins to disappear from the wallets in exchange for some gaudy T-shirts.

We have a winner. Nice post.
He could do a combo pack with soap and tooth paste.

So Jay is advocating for countrywide rapes, assaults, anti-semitism, communist/socialist/authoritarian propaganda, shootings, illegal drug dealing/consumption, self-imposed segregation by race, TB outbreaks, and insect infestation outbreaks?
visions on November 12, 2011 at 9:27 AM
The phrase on the T-shirts is “Occupy
Wall Streets”.
Since Jay-Z, through Rocawear, is manipulating the social expression of a “disaffected few” (to put it way kindly) he is a despised RENT SEEKER. Can you just imagine how bad these OWS folks are going to feel once they realize that their protests and discomfort in the cold and rain is providing profits for a capitalist rent seeker? Think about it! Think about their pain, suffering and victimzation! Think about it!

People made money on the gas chambers and crematoriums too. They only tried to exterminate a religion not sell some cheap made in China shirt with a silk screen on it with the goal to bring down Capitalism.

Heheh. Yeah, I don’t think those Robert Burns lice combs are going to move with this crowd.
