Revealed: Two women employees accused Cain of inappropriate behavior in 1990s
During Herman Cain’s tenure as the head of the National Restaurant Association in the 1990s, at least two female employees complained to colleagues and senior association officials about inappropriate behavior by Cain, ultimately leaving their jobs at the trade group, multiple sources confirm to POLITICO.
The women complained of sexually suggestive behavior by Cain that made them angry and uncomfortable, the sources said, and they signed agreements with the restaurant group that gave them financial payouts to leave the association. The agreements also included language that bars the women from talking about their departures…
Cain said he has “had thousands of people working for me” at different businesses over the years and could not comment “until I see some facts or some concrete evidence.” His campaign staff was given the name of one woman who complained last week, and it was repeated to Cain on Sunday. He responded, “I am not going to comment on that.”
He was then asked, “Have you ever been accused, sir, in your life of harassment by a woman?”
He breathed audibly, glared at the reporter and stayed silent for several seconds. After the question was repeated three times, he responded by asking the reporter, “Have you ever been accused of sexual harassment?”…
The sources — which include the recollections of close associates and other documentation — describe episodes that left the women upset and offended. These incidents include conversations allegedly filled with innuendo or personal questions of a sexually suggestive nature, taking place at hotels during conferences, at other officially sanctioned restaurant association events and at the association’s offices. There were also descriptions of physical gestures that were not overtly sexual but that made women who experienced or witnessed them uncomfortable and that they regarded as improper in a professional relationship…
“These are old and tired allegations that never stood up to the facts,” [Cain spokesman J.D.] Gordon said in an email response. “This was settled amicably among all parties many years ago, and dredging this up now is merely part of a smear campaign meant to discredit a true patriot who is shaking up the political status quo.”

Oh, and just remember, the media worked non-stop to hide the off camera shannanigans of the likes of Bill Clinton and especially John Edwards.

This is probably going to sound weird but it’s getting to the point where something is wrong with you if haven’t been accused of this.

Who phoned this into the Journolisters? Romney or the One.

Anita Hill redux. Good thing Cain already said he was ready for his “high tech lynching”.

Prediction: this story gets traction within the MSM and becomes the “buzz story” for the next three weeks getting more air time on the MSM then Solyndra, Fast and Furious and LightSquared combined.
Also, look for the same liberals who played down The Clenis’ actions with Monica Lewinsky as nothing, calling this an outrage.

Since they signed non-disclosure no-talk agreements, the association should sue for their money back and a trial date for the accusations.

And how, exactly, do you know it was one of the women who talked?
How, exactly, are you sure it wasn’t someone who works for the NRA?

Roger that. There are no serious law breakers in any Occupy site. But Herman Cain will be public enemy number 1 and a serious threat to any woman in his campaign.

It’s a well known fact that only liberals like Clinton can hit on women, including interns, with impunity but I don’t care. Even if it’s true, Herman’s description of those who would deny the Holocaust Survivors that tiny speck of desert, as so-called palestinians, more than makes up for it.

You almost sound happy about this when you should be outraged at a story with not one named source. Wait till they start rolling out the Rick Perry is ghey stuff if he rises in polls.

NRA or NRC? Because I was thinking the same thing.

d1carter on October 30, 2011 at 8:46 PM
I don’t know but I would sue anyway and let them make an affirmative defense about it. If that worked, then I’d go after the next possibility right down the food chain until I found the guilty party.
The point is not to get the money back but to put the accusation on trial in a court room instead of a press room.
platypus on October 30, 2011 at 8:46 PM
Who is “they”…I could believe some Democrats somewhere ound these women and offered them some deal to now go public with this. Cain didn’t deny the alleged incident occurred…he said he was “vaguely familiar” with the incident. Even that statement makes me believe Cain might have been guilty as charged.
I was warming up to Cain…which caused my infamous “The Curse” to go into effect. Couple this accusation with Cain’s pro-life flip-flop, and he’s gonna lose support. If Romney (gag) can stay clean, he’ll be the nominee.
But again, it is no surprise if certain liberals are digging like crazy for any dirt they can find on every candidate. They know full well The One doesn’t stand a chance, or it will be very close.
JetBoy on October 30, 2011 at 8:46 PM
Next thing you’ll know, Andrea Mitchell will be going on and on about how Black men in Cain’s generation preyed on vulnerable White women just trying to work their way up.

Of course they have probably already made much more than that from the tabloid media already and much more is to come as their role as very useful idiots.

So do so many on our side. They fear how a true Conservative would govern.
hawkdriver on October 30, 2011 at 8:52 PM
So this is the SOP with black conservative men? Accuse them of stereotypical behavior. Meanwhile the current black president can call reporters and constituents “sweetie” and has been accused of being hostile to women as recently as this past spring from women in his own administration, and it’s crickets from the media.

Anyone who spent time at tradeshows and conventions knows the plausibility of these sorts of accusations… given the nonexistnt sourcing and selacious slanting of the article, i suspect there isnt anything substantive that is outstanding here…
