“It’s been the conservatives who have been after me with a meat cleaver”
That statement provoked Maher to give Jeffress a high-five.

He goes to Bill Maher for sympathy and he loses any sympathy I might of had for him in the past.
NotCoach on October 15, 2011 at 4:00 PM
Useful. Idiot.
fiatboomer on October 15, 2011 at 4:05 PM
The reason conservatives are going after him is because religious bigotry is frowned upon by the right. Cain got crap for his Muslim remark(which he did at least clarify later on). And Jeffress is getting heat for what he said. A person’s faith is important to many conservatives when deciding on a candidate, but insulting one’s religious views(unless it’s something like Scientology) is the domain of the left and we want no part of it.
Doughboy on October 15, 2011 at 4:07 PM
I am sure that Maher respects that guy.

If you continue to give $$$ to this man’s church, #YouTooAreAUsefulIdiot

Yep. This is example 349283 of how mainstream bigotry exists almost exclusively on the left.
strictnein on October 15, 2011 at 4:19 PM
Yes.
juliesa on October 15, 2011 at 4:28 PM
Maher who detests the religious gives the tool a high five.
CW on October 15, 2011 at 4:31 PM
aside from the bigotry of the left and the idiocy of jeffries, it also shows the power that the being on tv has on people
so many people love to see their face on the tv that they’ll do/say anything. they love being loved by the tv personalities…who, yeah, just so happen to be virtually uniformly leftist drones from the hive. Exhibit A is McCain. Exhibit B is most of the people running for the R nomination. For example, Johnson from NM was on fnc. between the strange, sometimes ill-formed, positions he has, he is obviously a nut. his mannerisms and facial ticks tell the tale. What an efing circus.
the same venal impulse is what motivates most public figures…all just variations of chuck schumer

What a useful idiot. Question for you, Reverend: Do you think Bill Maher thinks your sect of Christianity is any LESS a cult ?
Answer: No. No he does not, moron. How to make yourself look like a complete ass in 1 easy lesson.

“Unless its something like scientology”
How do you carve out an exception for scientology? By what criteria?
Lawdawg86 on October 15, 2011 at 4:38 PM
He kinda sounds like Rick Perry’s wife … except he’s supposed to say then that he is the true conservative and the others are just wannabes.
MeatHeadinCA on October 15, 2011 at 4:48 PM
Scientology is so absolutely nonsensical with the aliens and telekinesis and time-travel and its origin in science fiction, that it is as credible a belief system as the Force.
andy85719 on October 15, 2011 at 4:50 PM
I wonder if this Jeffress idiot has ever heard of Religulous.
steebo77 on October 15, 2011 at 4:53 PM
The headline had me expecting a Rick Perry story.
steebo77 on October 15, 2011 at 4:54 PM
Whom are you to judge?
MeatHeadinCA on October 15, 2011 at 4:57 PM
Can I get some *twinkle fingers* ?
MeatHeadinCA on October 15, 2011 at 4:57 PM
Are Biblical miracles credible without faith?
dedalus on October 15, 2011 at 5:00 PM
Was hoping Romney was the source of this quote.
Valiant on October 15, 2011 at 5:00 PM
He went on Maher to lick his wounds over being called out as a bigoted fool who put the last nail in Perry’s coffin?! Well, I guess there’s some ironic symmetry in that. Maher, after all, is a bigoted fool, too.
Rational Thought on October 15, 2011 at 5:13 PM
No – going on Maher’s show just indicates that in addition to being a religious bigot he’s a fool who is will suck up to someone who thinks all of Christianity is even worse than a cult.
katiejane on October 15, 2011 at 5:22 PM
It’s a form of bigotry to believe that someone else’s religious views are wrong, and perhaps even laughable? Gee whiz. Or, maybe you think it’s ok to insult someone else’s “mainstream” religious views, but only as long as you keep your opinion to yourself – would this be ok with you for a person to do? Or, do you think it’s ok to publicly insult another’s “mainstream” religious views, as long as you aren’t too insulting?
What’s the domain of the Left is PC, which becomes even more ridiculous and insufferable when people on the Right practice it.
Bizarro No. 1 on October 15, 2011 at 5:32 PM
Yes, Scientology is no where near as sensible as a talking snake convincing a rib woman to eat an apple from a magical tree and then all of humanity for the rest of time is born with the sin until such time as a cosmic zombie man who is his own father returns to earth and sacrifices himself so that future humans can symbolically eat his flesh and drink his blood to remove the evil force from their souls.
thphilli on October 15, 2011 at 5:35 PM
Oh, the irony!
OldEnglish on October 15, 2011 at 5:39 PM
The religion was designed by a science fiction writer. It’s adherents literally believe they can turn back time with their mind. I see no irony. And unlike other religions which espouse forms of morality ostensibly meant to lead to a more harmonious society, Scientology promotes giving the organization lots of money and signing non-disclosure agreements.
andy85719 on October 15, 2011 at 6:04 PM
A lot of religions were created by some strange individuals.
MeatHeadinCA on October 15, 2011 at 6:05 PM
I don’t have any problem with the insane beliefs of Scientologists, I have issue with them being a cult. All religions have weird/odd beliefs, but that doesn’t make them a cult.

Pablo Honey on October 15, 2011 at 6:26 PM
I hope you realize your gross ignorance is on display.
Of course we all know that organic, complex arose by accident, for no reason, to accomplish nothing out of inorganic materials. That makes awesome sense!

Dirt, man, rib, woman, talking snake is more logical reasoning.
Pablo Honey on October 15, 2011 at 6:52 PM
Of course! Someone even wrote a book about it.
