Don’t hold out hope for Palin
CALLER: She’s the anti-Obama! She’s the clearest difference from Obama.
RUSH: I don’t disagree. Look, I don’t disagree with you about that — and I can’t tell you how frustrated I got and still get when I travel around. I have friends scattered all over the country and I’ve got quite a few of them, particularly the wives, who just hate her. They just hate her! It is beyond rational. It’s beyond rational. There’s no way I can talk to ‘em about it. That’s incidental to the story.
CALLER: I’m hoping there’s something going on behind the scenes, some kind of strategy that others get her to come back in. That’s what I’m hoping.
RUSH: Well, I wouldn’t hold out hope for that. She made a pretty public splash that “I’m not running.”…
CALLER: Well, but now with her out of the race you’ve got different dynamics. If she was in the race, you wouldn’t be focusing on Romney like you were now. Now with her out of the race –
RUSH: You’ve got practical things like filing deadlines coming up, some are within a week now, so I think it’s time to move on. I think it’s time to let go and move on.

You anti-Palinites seem to have just as much trouble with “moving on.” Preach much?

I’ve often wished someone could actually pin the haters down to figure out the reason for the excessive hatre. The excuse of “she’s stupid” doesn’t work because the Congress is filled with people who fit that category – how impressive is Joe Biden in the smarts dept?
As for the Palin supporters attacking the posters that trashed her – personally I’ve never called someone a troll becaise they hated Palin. If that were the definition of a troll a significant portion of HA would be trolls. However it was/is fair to lay the term of PDS on someone who has spent years harping about the dirt the blogs spread, she cheated on her husband, she’s a bad mpther, she’s an attention wh*re, she quit her job for the money. Actually the quitter meme is the base line PDS symptom.

I hate to reduce it to “she’s a beautiful woman” and I have resisted doing so. But there has to be some of that in there. They look at her and see the kind of woman they think could steal their husbands.
Some moms also hate her because they think she’s abandoning her kids to be politically active, or using them as props.
My mom is one of the haters. I wish I understood her POV, but on the other hand, I don’t want to have the conversation to find out because my mom and I never argue except about politics (and then only very rarely because we don’t discuss it). Maybe now that Palin isn’t running, the atmosphere won’t be so charged and I can ask her.

The choice between family bankruptcy or economic freedom shouldn’t be called quitting.

Ask for specifics.

Their constant sniping on Palin shows true evil.

It would take an earthquake to get Palin to run as an independent.

I will.

We’ll see. But I’ll give you the depressed under Obama part, that’s for sure. I’ve got skin in that game; a lot, actually. Five more years of that guy, and depression would be the least of my problems.

Rush admitted that many do see her as a excellent Prez…but ir is her call. IMO she will become Prez when she decides to run..when ever that may be. Palin for President..Now more than ever…

Wow. Having just reviewed the transcript, I can see why some folks are a bit leery about the more passionate Palin supporters.
Folks, folks, folks.. it was NEVER about the woman, but about her ideas that mattered. Sure, Sarah Palin is genuine, authentic, and perhaps one of the closest things we have to a true patriot of the Tea Party Conservative moment. But we don’t have to have HER specifically in the White House to get the kind of restoration we dream about.
And Rush is right: some of the folks who who insist upon pushing her back into national campaign mode are (in reality) questioning her judgement. That needs to stop and stop right now.
If you want to fight the battles needed to save the country, then do so. Don’t wait for Palin to lead the charge. Be your own person, inspired by Palin if it helps, but be yourself and gather your buddies to take on the fight. Join the Tea Party if you haven’t done so already.
I love Sarah Palin and wish the best for her and her family. If she doesn’t want to run at this time, I’ll respect her decision and move on. If, and/or when she changes her mind, I’ll suit up and get out on the field on her behalf. Until then, life is too short so why waste precious time pining for something that clearly isn’t going to happen in 2012?
Let’s focus our collective firepower toward supporting active candidates and individuals dedicated to turning back the tides of the statists and the Obama Administration. Send the current POTUS back to private life, undo Obamacare, and purge all of other destructive stuff of the last four years.
We are Americans, not Ameri-can’ts.

And that assumes Palin is stupid. From what I see, she is extremely intelligent. Extremely. I base that on her ability to parse words for the sake of effect, and to parse ideas in complex situations. The reason Palin is able to control the message is not just her fearlessness in moments when most politicians would hesitate, but her ability to nattow situations down to key points that stick.
If people consider Palin’s actions on death panels, it was the act of issuing one statement on death panels that gave her leadership on the issue. She didn’t organize committees, or picket. How did Palin jump over the heads of others on the issue? She took the lead, not because she was cunning as Peggy Noonan said, but because she was so intelligent she was able to pinpoint what had cause great angst in the public
It is the opposite of Biden. There are fools who walk where angels fear to tread. Then there are smart people who understand the necessity for action.
Contrast Palin’s last major speech, a policy statement, with Christie’s speech at the Reagan library. There was no comparison. Christies was meeting an obligation. Palin was communicating an expostion on the American dilemma
Rush was correct about some people hating Palin beyond rational. These same people normally rage about Palin’s stupidity. I recall the frothing hatred of Reagan and the endless attacks on his intelligence. However, Reagan was anything but stupid. Read his essays. Essays divorce image from substance.
IMHO many who hate Palin too much really fear her ability to assume control by winning others to her side. They didn’t choose her, she isn’t their idea of a leader, yet she seduces others (with logic). How do you win if the best debater is not your guy. How can you fight someone who has taken control of the message away from you by giving a winning argument?
