NY Observer
The Wall Street protesters: What the hell do they want?
The Observer was thrilled. It was really happening! We decided to report from the front lines. We walked up to a protester, a young woman in a plastic yellow rain poncho.
“What are you doing here?” we asked.
“Oh, we’re just here, like, you know, protesting what’s going on,” she replied.
“Cool, what specifically?” we asked.
“Everything going on, I mean. Take your pick!”
Her name was Jenna. We secretly hoped she was from Portland. Turned out she was a New Yorker. She said she worked right down the street.
“So, what would you like to see happen?”
“I really want to send a message, basically.”

Probably to be loved, it looks like their parents let video games raise them or something.

“I really want to send a message, basically.”
“And what message is that?”
“That we’re here to make a statement!”
“And what’s your statement?”
“That it’s time to raise awareness!”
“Raise awareness of what?”
“Our message!”

very funny article…i’m glad the Observer has a sense of humor.
however, this guy actually sounds like Elizabeth Warren:
So we can have a good laugh over the face painting and the topless girl surrounded by reporters…but these people aren’t the problem…its their parents/teachers that are the problem

Fundamental Transformation….
To what, they’ll get back to you later on that one. Either it is a full all powerful communist government that controls everything from what you eat to when you eat it. OR no government of any kind just a perpetual anarchy party and he with the biggest stick wins.

Ironic. Complain about corporate greed, while demanding “the rich” give them their money.
There was a time when this level of hypocrisy would have shocked me.

Remember the article allah posted in the headlines a few days ago that college kids expect their first job out of school will pay them over 50K? My guess is a lot of these protestors are recent graduates who thought that, and they are now protesting as a means of dealing with the fact that the world doesn’t owe you 50 grand for your damn art history major.
radjah shelduck on September 24, 2011 at 7:34 AM
How appropriate. We should buy a truckload of these shirts and ship them to these kids.

Even when it comes to protesting, our young people are falling behind the standards set around the world.

This is still going on? I had no idea.

I wouldn’t say so. He is making an enormous windfall and know his market. He ran out of food FCOL, even a tea party patriot would have said the same thing because the amount of money he stands to make just because of sheet dumb accident will necessitate hiring an armored truck to make ordinary bank runs.

Are you agreeing that he is not so smart? .Is it smart to charge people 5 dollars less than your regular price when they don’t care the price?
CW on September 24, 2011 at 8:18 AM
Our president’s previous line of work. Wow.
rogerb on September 24, 2011 at 8:30 AM
If running out of food is the goal or the standard, then he would have been even smarter to have lowered his price to $1, right?
BlueCollarAstronaut on September 24, 2011 at 8:40 AM
The replies to the article are funny. People saying that a few random inarticulate interviewees doesn’t prove the point that there’s no real goal in sight. Fortunately, respondents are quick to set the record straight by explaining that the issue is about a bunch of stuff, and basically the attitude it one of “enough is enough,” and they ask the reporter to stop using trick questions or adandon his simple-minded constructs, because it’s not communism-communism, per se.
So, uhm, there ya go, I guess. I can understand that impromptu, ad hoc explanations can be hard sometimes, so I appreciate that the commentators took the time to spell out the same exact inarticulate motivations from the comfort of their living rooms…and set the record straight.
BlueCollarAstronaut on September 24, 2011 at 8:48 AM
Yes, because obviously the people working their normal jobs and living their normal routines are the ones obsessed here; not the ones dropping everything to travel across the county to protest said people.
BlueCollarAstronaut on September 24, 2011 at 8:50 AM
Imagine collecting 5 dollars more per pie through the buyers own free choice FCOL!!!

When I was in high school, a few of us decided to have a “sit in” in the lobby during the lunch hour. We made sure we didn’t block any entrances or make it inconvenient for people to walk around us. We were not protesting anything, we were just silly kids who thought it would be fun to see how many people would join us. There ended up being a huge group, and the principal and teachers just walked by and left us to our silliness.
That’s what this group reminds me of, except that we knew what we were doing, and they are utterly clueless.
