NJ Democratic leader: I want to punch Chris Christie in the head
“This is all about him being a bully and a punk,” he said in an interview Friday.
“I wanted to punch him in his head.”
Sweeney had just risked his political neck to support the governor’s pension and health reform, and his reward was a slap across the face. The governor’s budget was a brusque rejection of every Democratic move, and Sweeney couldn’t even get an audience with the governor to discuss it.
“You know who he reminds me of?” Sweeney says. “Mr. Potter from ‘It’s a Wonderful Life,’ the mean old bastard who screws everybody.”
This is not your regular budget dispute. This is personal. And it could have seismic impact on state politics.

That’s their world view…a bunch of simplistic movie cliches.

Yawn.
Democrat whining because Christie played him like democrats have been playing Republicans for decades.

Sweeney just realized that his political azz is on the line. Nothing new here.

It’s more than just sending an email that gets you going. Every once in a while you gotta get out in the streets, and get a little bloody when necessary.
New tone (D).

I thought the same thing. I think the guy who wrote that is an opinion columnist, not a reporter.

Crr wants us to believe that the left does not far outweigh
the right when it comes to such rhetoric. She is naive or a liar.

Well we know Christie doesn’t have a firearm, or is he one of those it’s okay for me not for thee liberals.
wheelgun on July 3, 2011 at 3:45 PM
Sorry, I can’t get worked up over Jersey politics. Maybe Christie is a jerk, but sticking it to Democrats, even underhandedly, is using their stock and trade against them. I suspect Christie is savvy enough to know if he needs Sweeney’s help anymore.

Whose the bully again?

Can’t wait for the video with Christie’s reply.

What Sweeny said, “I want to hit him in the head.”
What he ment, ” I’m such a wuss, I’ll just whine.”

More of the new civility:

Sweeny said, “The Governor was supposed to cooperate and lob one in, instead he gave us a ‘Hard Ball’! Why,that’s only something that Democrats are supposed to do… Where on Earth did Republicans learn to act like this?”

Democrats are violent people. Our prisons are filled with them.

Ya think?
Bunch of whiney bastards and the unionized liberal media that supports them.
Rod on July 3, 2011 at 4:06 PM
So saving money is being a bully and a punk, but taking money from people at gunpoint and giving it to your friends to buy votes isn’t?
Whereas the Democrats remind me of George Bailey who ran his savings & loan into the ground and had to be bailed out by others. But at least George didn’t use the force of law to make people give him money.

I really am so tired of the rhetoric — “ugly” budget cuts, “slashed” spending, “draconian” reductions. Is there EVER a single penny of reduced government spending that a reporter finds acceptable?
And anyway, this budget isn’t even cut from last year. New Jersey is hardly leaving millions of poor people or students out in the cold with a budget of 30 billion dollars. Sweeney is upset because Christie is refusing to spend 31 billion dollars. Sheesh!
rockmom on July 3, 2011 at 4:55 PM
They probably want to punch Christie in the head too. They’re state workers, after all.

Breaking news…
A disturbed woman was arrested outside Stephen Sweeney’s home today. According to reports, a blond woman in a black cocktail dress and high heels ran into Sweeney’s yard, where she began yelling acerbic comments and plugging her latest book.
