Google denies special ad deal for Barack Obama
Google denied Wednesday that it gave President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign special access to a new advertising program, something a sales representative from the search and advertising giant had claimed in an email to customers.
Google spokesman Jake Parrilo denied strenuously that the Obama campaign had been granted special access to the pilot program, and chalked the email up to inaccurate “puffery” by the sales representative. The ad that appeared on RealClearPolitics, he said, was not a Google ad at all.
“This is an experiment and while we generally do not comment on those experiments we can tell you that we have not sold a single CPL [cost-per-lead] ad unit to any political candidates or committees,” said Parrillo.

I don’t believe them.
Google is always in bed with Obama.
May they suffer desperately for it.

They seem to be taking money in order to promote the “ObamaRail” here in California. Advertising on the Daily Kos.

The CA Rail Authority logo looks very similar to Obama’s campaign logo as well.

El_terrible beat me to it; I’ll bet they gave it to them for free. Most people would say they did not RUN an ad.

Liars!
Boycott Google now.
As much as you can. They pretty much have a monopoly.
carbon_footprint on June 16, 2011 at 1:58 PM
I’m confused. I’ve spent tens of thousands running ads on Google, and the Cost Per Lead (aka Cost Per Action) option has been there for a while.

I avoid Google as much as possible. BING is my preferred search engine, although they are not much better “politically” since BING is run by Microsoft.
UltimateBob on June 16, 2011 at 2:09 PM
Sold? No. They are giving it to the Obama tram. Liberal Crony Capitalists normally bend the truth like that.

Lying leftist scumbag. That company is politically corrupt, like all Democrat organs.

I just got through reading the book In the Plex. It is basically the story of Google written by a liberal. There is an entire section of the book devoted toward Googles founders (and employees) love of Obama. When he did a campaign stop at Google for a town hall, they actually fed him the answer to a technical question that Obama would be asked by the audience. Do you think Obama actually know what a bubble sort is?
They see O as the first technocrat president. Google believes that algorithms can solve all problems and they believe Obama would use the internet to solve all of societies woes.
Just go to Amazon and search for Obama from the “search inside” feature of the book:
http://www.amazon.com/Plex-Google-Thinks-Works-Shapes/dp/1416596585/
Not only is the president named 20 times in the text, but several of Googles employees jumped ship to work at the White House.

I pulled my Google Adwords campaign because it was just awful. I was paying for clicks from keywords I never even specified, such a rip off. I’m now advertising on Facebook and getting much better results.

No “political candidates or committees?”
So what did the Obama folks buying the ads call themselves?
