What if your Dad is Benny Hill?

That would almost be cool, if it wasn’t for the cross-dressing. A more assertive kid might have made a show of it (not that I would have been able to pull it off, mind you).
My parents were the type that went well out of their way to keep from embarrassing us kids in public.
Count to 10 on June 4, 2011 at 10:44 PM
I miss my Dad. This kid is fortunate to have a Dad who enjoys life and expresses his love for him. I bet most of the other kids wish their Dads paid half as much attention to them.

Thank goodness for boarding school!

Does dad not have a job? How does he have time to put tougher these elaborate outfits?
terryannonline on June 4, 2011 at 11:56 PM
I could see why it’s embarrasing for the kid. Still, hopefully when he’s mature enough to understand what kind of love dads have for their kids, he’ll look back fondly on this.
Then again, with a name like Rain, he may be screwed all around.
RedNewEnglander on June 5, 2011 at 12:00 AM
There are millions of kids in this world who would kill for a dad like this.

I’d pay good money to be named after a Mortal Kombat character.

To whomever posted this …thanks for the bucket of cheer.
Great story.
The Ugly American on June 5, 2011 at 12:50 AM
Could be worse. Dad could be Obama. I’d rather have a dad who wears silly costumes than a dad who singlehandedly bankrupts a country. Embarrassing.
andy85719 on June 5, 2011 at 12:52 AM
Then you won’t see him waving at your school bus. He’s been dead for almost 20 years.
Ronnie on June 5, 2011 at 1:32 AM
Point taken.
How about, “What if you Dad is Martin Lawrence?”
DeathB4Tyranny on June 5, 2011 at 2:08 AM
or better yet, “What if your Dad is Dennis Rodman?”
DeathB4Tyranny on June 5, 2011 at 2:12 AM
I wonder how the dad lost his leg?, it makes the peg leg pirate costume more authentic.
borg on June 5, 2011 at 2:30 AM
You got something against family values? In Utah, that’s how we roll.
flataffect on June 5, 2011 at 2:41 AM
Trolldad. The beginning.
Tacitus on June 5, 2011 at 2:49 AM
After the third day, I would have walked to school.
Slowburn on June 5, 2011 at 3:00 AM
Perhaps a few fishin’ or huntin’ trips would’ve been better.
SouthernGent on June 5, 2011 at 3:31 AM
I love it.
toenail on June 5, 2011 at 5:59 AM
The only thing I can think of that would be worse is having two dads out on the porch waving goodbye with your bearded dad wearing the dress.
Rod on June 5, 2011 at 7:18 AM
Yes. He works in the Half-Off Shoe Store and hops in around 10AM.
Rod on June 5, 2011 at 7:29 AM
That was ……..odd.

In about a year, my daughter starts taking the bus to high school. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Kafir on June 5, 2011 at 7:40 AM
Having no dad would be worse actually.
This dad taught his kid valuable life lessons. And years later, I am sure the memories and stories told around the table will be warmly welcomed.
BierManVA on June 5, 2011 at 8:25 AM
Sounds like something from The Onion
Pervygrin on June 5, 2011 at 8:43 AM
Motorcycle accident, according to someone in the comments at the story.
Quisp on June 5, 2011 at 8:45 AM
That was sweet and funny. And, I’m sure both the son and the dad are glad that it’s over, lol.
Fallon on June 5, 2011 at 8:49 AM
My husband has been inspired to stand across the street from my daughter’s bus stop next year. She’s not amused.
