Chuck Schumer: We need a “no-ride list” for Amtrak
Notes and computer materials seized from bin Laden’s compound in Pakistan last Sunday showed bin Laden wanted to strike American cities again and discussed ways to attack trains.
Schumer is calling for increased funding for rail security in light of the new intelligence.

What we need is, MORE RAILS, since they are the least secure transportation we have.

I voluntarily put my self on it years ago.

lahood just said he is giving away 2 billion to 15 states for rail service improvements, use that instead, why increase? spend, spend, spend….

In my best “Church Lady” voice…BIDEN!?!?!!?!

Go ahead and add me.

They’re subsidized at $32 per passenger. How many more no-riders could they have?
rogerb on May 9, 2011 at 8:35 AM
By all means, let’s X-ray and feel up train riders now. Greyhound passengers…you’re next. Let me know when they get to hitchhikers and moped riders.
SKYFOX on May 9, 2011 at 8:35 AM
Thanks, Gohawgs. Biden came to mind first.
BTW Are you all aware that ObaMao’s high-speed rail promotion intends to make Chicago the hub of this debt-increasing, union-payoff boondoggle?

We should shut Amtrak down just like we’ve all but done to offshore drilling.
FYI, the fishing offshore the mouth of Mississippi River is as good as its been in a very long time. My neighbor caught two blue marlin and several yellow fin tuna this past weekend. Also the speckled trout fishing where oil came to the shore and in bays has also been spectacular with all boats catching limits.

What we need is the media to ignore Chuckie’s rehashed Sunday pressers.

I’d consider Amtrak if I didn’t feel the need to have a security detail every time I entered the train depot; there are more panhandlers, bums and assorted lowlifes infesting Amtrak stations than downtown Houston.

People arrested for video taping security lines at the Denver airport. People being taped waiting in the lines had no boarding passes. Sounds very trial-runnish to me. Been through Denver many times and like Atlanta, the main (and only) security checkpoint and high-times can have hundreds or more waiting like cattle in a corral.

what we don’t need is another reason to increase the size and scope of the Homeland Security boondoggle.

I suppose a rider has to give a name to get a ticket. Does one need to show ID? It’s been a while since I rode Amtrak.
Dusty on May 9, 2011 at 8:57 AM
Guessing the majority of Americans have already put their names on it, Schumer.
I can’t imagine a more inconvenient way to travel than riding them there rails….
mjk on May 9, 2011 at 8:58 AM
I put myself on the no ride list-as well as the no fly list.

Chuck will use any excuse to grandstand for more government. AQ is thinking of bombing trains? Gee, really? Am I the only one who just assumed that?
And how the hell do you think we’re going to secure all those stations and thousands of miles of tracks? We can’t, and the only thing a no ride list will do is put up more window dressing while making government more intrusive and expensive than it already is.
Heres a story from today’s NY Post:

LOL! FTW!

Great idea Chucky! maybe with a little effort we can make riding a train as miserable an experience as flying the TSA skys. /s
MikeA on May 9, 2011 at 9:11 AM
Err I thought Amtrak already had this. Thats why no one uses it
snoopicus on May 9, 2011 at 9:24 AM
Wait a minute! Wasn’t it Dear leader himself that said riding the train “will be faster than flying –- without the pat-down.”
Why, this action by Chucky Schmucky almost sounds contradictory!

So did everyone else in America. Ever gotten on an Amtrak train in the last decade? You’re the only one.
MadisonConservative on May 9, 2011 at 9:36 AM
Chuckie Cheese’s pressers. A real “Look at ME!!!!” event. He sure knows how to handle money. Set off a bomb on the Amtrak Silver Meteor and you’ll kill 30 people. Board the A Train at 207th St. No one looks at you. Set your bomb off as the train hits 55mph between 86th and 59th and you’ll kill 100s.Set a bomb off between cars as the N Train makes the big turn into Queensboro Plaza from 39th Ave and watch as it plummets 65 feet to the pavement.Maybe Schumer has no idea of how to get bang for the buck,he is a Dem after all.But I’ll bet al Queda does.
