Bob Woodward: Trump is the new McCarthy
“Trump is going to get the new name ‘Tail-Gunner,’” Woodward said, referring to the nickname that McCarthy had gotten during World War II and used while in Congress.
But Trump is not the only one to blame for intensifying the “birther” talk to the point of prompting the president to release his birth certificate and take to the White House press room himself Wednesday in an attempt to end the controversy, Woodward said.
Rather, “I fault our business to a certain extent magnifying this,” he said, referring to the media.

Does that mean that the Obama administration is full of communists?

That’s it. Trump’s hit the big time now. When liberals are comparing you to McCarthy you know you’ve got them on the ropes.

And 0bama is the new Mussolini – and I’d wager my analogy is far more on target than his.

So Obama is the new Alger Hiss? Yeah, that’s about right.
Remember – they’d never have hated McCarthy if he were wrong.

No,no,no….not over yet, when Trump is compared to Hitler or Stalin or some Klignon warrior from Star Trek or Darth Vader, then Trump has hit the big time.
Trump must just be loving all this press the liberals are giving him.

I think he means Eugene McCarthy, not Joe McCarthy.
Eugene did his best to knock LBJ out of the race and succeeded, even though he got shafted for the nomination in favor of Humphrey.

Why not the new Eisenhower?… who could have pardoned the convicted atom spies, Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, but did not, and let them die in the chair.
McCarthy never had such power.
Ike did.
Trump is the new Ike!

More like the new Pat Paulsen.

Maybe Woodward buys my theory that Trump has been acting at the behest of the Clintons. He’s trying to mortally wound Obama so Hillary can save the Democratic Pary.

Woodward is still old news.

Apparently you have to be a big-time drama queen before you can be considered a true journalist nowadays.
Aitch748 on April 28, 2011 at 7:34 PM
Why isn’t Bob Woodward investigating some of the growing scandals of the Obama administration like Pigford and Walkergate?
Chip on April 28, 2011 at 7:37 PM
Bwahahahahaha … the new McCarthy? LOLOLOLOLOL.
Hey when are we going to talk about Krugman as a public laugh line? I’m betting a 150 comments on that.

So who’s the new Edgar Bergen?
Seth Halpern on April 28, 2011 at 8:11 PM
As I said to Politico on Twitter this morning, this framing would seem more apt to media aksing “Are you now or have you ever been a birther”.

This is the funnest show on earth! Watching the Libs label Trump with every name in their bag of tricks. First, he’s RAAAACIST!! Now he’s McCARTHYYYYY!!!
Let’s have a guessing game of the next label…
I’ll start: Trump is worse than the Taliban.

Good grief. All Trump did was ask for the Obama’s friggin’ birth certificate.

No, it’s because you sycophants didn’t want to go to the trouble of vetting your precious messiah in the first place.
