Wow: Age group that’s most favorable to Ryan’s budget is seniors
The poll finds 48 percent of seniors (those 65 and over) support Ryan’s plan over President Obama’s plan, while 42 percent back the president.
That’s the highest total among the age groups tested – a 47 percent plurality between the ages of 50 and 64 backed Ryan, and a 45 percent plurality of those between 30-49 backed Ryan. But young voters overwhelmingly sided with Obama by a 23-point margin, 53 to 30 percent.
Overall, 44 percent back Obama’s plan, while 43 percent support Ryan.

When you’re getting close to the end, you pay attention and read the fine print. Demonizing won’t work O Team. The seniors are the smart and wise ones.

Debbie Wasserman Schultz hardest hit.

It means 2 things: 1)Seniors while protective of their entitlement programs understand that spending is completely out-of-control and 2)they must reeeeeeeeeally hate Obama over his health care plan(and the economic situation at large).

No duh. Who have we seen at all these Tea Party rallies and town hall meetings? Mostly seniors.

Current system: Medicare often rejected by doctors, getting harder and harder to use. Very little choice.
Ryan’s plan: Ability to shop for insurance and find the best plan that fits you and lets you go to the doctors you want to see.
More and more seniors will go to Ryan.

Young voters are fools. They are the ones who are stuck holding the empty bag!
This should not be hard to fix.
Hey, Glenn Beck says this is new focus. Educating the young. Hmmm. Beck strikes again.

The tide is turning. Just remind all Republican Senators, Governors, and US Representatives to not have any sex scandals for the next two years and we should be good.

They care about their grandchildren.

Seniors, by and large, are more informed, and more willing to sacrifice. And they probably heard Ryan say benefits to current seniors won’t be touched.
hawksruleva on April 27, 2011 at 11:26 AM
Make it three – a plurality of seniors understand the best chance that they won’t get screwed like their kids and grandkids is to latch onto the Ryan plan which explicitly protects their gains.
steveegg on April 27, 2011 at 11:28 AM
Yes. I don’t know how any grandparent could look at their grandkids and not break down in tears over what we’re doing to them.

I may be wrong, but I believe the Ryan plan would protect the current benefit structure for existing seniors. I believe the changes would effect those 52 and under. Obama would subject us all to “death panels”. Perhaps this is why seniors mostly prefer Ryan’s way.

Thankfully my age group doesn’t vote as much as the old people.

This pokes holes in the latest meme from the lamestream media, that Ryan and other Reps are being attacked for this plan in their town hall meetings.
Gee, ya think they may be astroturf? Moveon urges unions to attend town halls.

Seniors aren’t giving up anything in Ryan’s budget. They’re retired, their benefits are FIXED in his budget.
It’s everyone, age 55 and below – who are giving something up.
And, according to the GOP – they think it’s a WINNING proposition to ask those people to delay retirement while still requiring them to fund illegal abortions, the PBS, the NPR, the NEA, and ethanol subsidies.
In short – the GOP is asking for people to “pony up” and make sacrifices to their, basically “contractual”, entitlements while doing NOTHING to stop ludicrous spending.
Paul Ryan IS asking that you delay retirement – but he hasn’t eliminated a single department of this leviathan government – and, unless he does that first – you can bet that he (or whoever) will be back in a few years to ask you to sacrifice more.
Because unless we drastically slash the size and scope of this government – any “fix” is a “temporary fix”.
Nuff said.

Actually, Seniors are probably still only looking out for their own best interest. Unless something is done, the entire country is going down, and that includes old age programs.

I just turned 43 in March. I was in my teens when I realized that, barring a major change in policy SS, and Medicare would not be available for my retirement.
Slowburn on April 27, 2011 at 12:11 PM
Younger seniors are starting to see that if something isn’t done then Medicare Will Not Be There when they are in their 80s or 90s and need it most for end of life care.
They have no problem sticking it to their 40 something children who have paid into the system for 20+ years but will likely see almost nothing out of it.
