Colin Powell to CIA: Why didn’t you tell me your Iraq WMD source was unreliable?
Powell said that the CIA and DIA should face questions about why they failed to sound the alarm about Janabi. He demanded to know why it had not been made clear to him that Curveball was totally unreliable before false information was put into the key intelligence assessment, or NIE, put before Congress, into the president’s state of the union address two months before the war and into his own speech to the UN.
“It has been known for several years that the source called Curveball was totally unreliable,” he told the Guardian . “The question should be put to the CIA and the DIA as to why this wasn’t known before the false information was put into the NIE sent to Congress, the president’s state of the union address and my 5 February presentation to the UN.”

jake-the-goose on February 17, 2011 at 1:23 PM
Are we still playing the “Let’s pretend Powell was kept in the dark on Iraq” game?
amerpundit on February 17, 2011 at 1:24 PM
Just blame W and move along, it works every time it is tried.
Cindy Munford on February 17, 2011 at 1:25 PM

Colin, why didn’t you tell us that you were a personally politically motivated RINO?

The Colon of my Colon is a Colon.

Um, how come you didn’t ask?

On the radio here in Portland, Rudy Guiliani is pushing for us to attend a “Leadership” seminar with him, Colon Powell, Laura Bush, Terry Bradshaw and miscellaneous others for only $9.95!
I wouldn’t pay to listen to Colin Powell EVER.
portlandon on February 17, 2011 at 1:30 PM
That, along with the “Let’s pretend that WMD’s constituted the sole reason we went back into Iraq” game.

Did Powell himself – who reportedly went over everything very closely – rely solely on this one person to state that Saddam had mobile bioweapon labs? One source?
I’d still like to have that question answered.

The fact that Colon gave this to the Leftist rag that originated this “story” is all one needs to know.

I’ll perform the service of translating this into his acquired tongue:
Wahhh-wahhhhhhh-waaaaahhh-wahh-waaaahhhhhhhh!
And to think that he used to be the brigade commander of my old unit. What an embarrassment…

Hear, hear. What a disappointment Powell has turned out to be. The man has no honor and no integrity. He continues to pretend that he was duped into believing Iraq had WMD’s.
He also was the source for most of the leaks that landed on the front page of the NYT. If he had a problem with the President’s agenda, he should have resigned and gone to the media directly. What a coward he is.

I never new Powell was such a weasel.
TheBigOldDog on February 17, 2011 at 1:55 PM
I had much more respect for him before he started talking.
Please stop, sir.

Colon still desperately trying to appease his liberal friends/critics. How sad and pathetic.
Jaibones on February 17, 2011 at 2:34 PM
Hey Colin, why didn’t you tell the public that it was your deputy, Richard Armitage, that outed Valerie Plame?
Sincerely,
Lewis Libby

I was on a road trip years ago with my Dad and we listened to Colin’s book on tape. It was enjoyable and that trip will always be a memorable experience for me. This was before Colin ended up being a tool, of course…
