I’ve changed my mind: I think Palin’s running
I still believe baring a disaster Obama will be reelected, but I now see nothing to lose and lots to gain by a Palin candidacy. She is the only candidate who has the ultimate freedom of having already faced her political death head on. As Winston Churchill famously said, “There is nothing more exhilarating than being shot without result,” and while thankfully Palin only knows this truth metaphorically, all that she has endured gives her incredible independence. Everyone else will inevitably melt (like even grizzled veteran John McCain did) when they get close to the blast furnace that will be going up against the Obama juggernaut. Far more than anyone else in conservative history, Palin has been forced to prove just how fireproof her convictions are and how deep her resolve is.
Quite simply, no one else in the potential Republican field will be as trustworthy to conservatives on the issues, and less likely to back down, than Sarah Palin. She has shown beyond any doubt that she can literally handle anything that the pressure of running for president could possibly present.
Would she win? Probably not, but there is no Republican who would be close to being favored today against Obama. Instead, a Palin candidacy would guarantee, by far, the best chance to have true conservative principles articulated in a fearless fashion on the grandest of stages, which hasn’t really happened (with apologies to Ronald Reagan) since 1964.

Thank you Emperor. I continue to be amazed that, even as Obama destroys what was created over the 232 years prior to his reign of error, the vast majority of Americans are content that he carry on without having proved his eligibility to do so.
America’s need to atone for its greatest sin is admirable but it need not result in accepting that sensible eligibility requirements should be waived merely because the candidate is half black.
We now know why the Long Form Birth certificate has not been released. It doesn’t exist. This of course does not mean Obama was born outside Hawaii (any anyone who calls me a “birther” is a dishonest POS). It means, as I’ve maintained all along, , that because Hawaii permitted the registration of children born outside the state we don’t know where he was born.
So what are the implications for 2012? Red States should insist upon the filing of a Long Form Birth Certificate as proof of eligibility.
How does Sarah handle the inevitable attempt to draw her into the “birther” trap ( being labeled as the equivalent of a 9/11 truther merely for demanding qualifying primary documentation- a LFBC- when it is clear that secondary documentation – COLB- is not reliable)?
She says: Of course, we all know that you were born in the United States but since you claim to be transparent you should put an end to the controversy and release your Long Form Birth Certificate.

Did any of you see the Chinese flag flying between our in front of the WH on Drudge?
wi farmgirl on January 19, 2011 at 7:02 AM

cmsinaz on January 19, 2011 at 7:14 AM

Almost 3,000,000 facebook fans… another reason they seek to destroy her !
stenwin77 on January 19, 2011 at 7:40 AM
If the country is focusing on gas prices and other energy issues – I think she will win.
stenwin77 on January 19, 2011 at 7:45 AM
She can win if she runs against both establishment parties.
Bugler on January 19, 2011 at 8:35 AM
Can she win? Darned if I know.
But I’d like to see her have six months on the campaign trail against Obama. She’d change some minds… So, yes, I guess I do think she can win.
tigerinexile on January 19, 2011 at 8:37 AM
Look, I like Palin. I hope she runs. And I do believe she can win. But she ain’t pulling off what Reagan did in 1980. In fact, I don’t know if any candidate on either side will ever accomplish that again. We’re too polarized as a nation.
I do however believe she can win just as many states as Bush in 2004. And that would be enough for a fairly comfortable win(although not a decisive one).
Doughboy on January 19, 2011 at 8:45 AM
If you honestly beleive this provides her a path to being elected, you need to get out more often. Ms. 30% favoribility asks Mr. 55% for his “Long” for birth certificate, yea that works. This sounds like the crazy advice that had Palin step into it this week.

I took the opposite away from Palin’s interview with Hannity, as Zeigler did.
My take was that seeing how unhinged the left/media/dems (all the same cabal) are, and if she thought they were going to continually disrupt her governorship in Alaska? That would be like a nice, short Sunday matinee compared to what they will do to her as Pres.
I took her interview with Laura Inghram as she was more inclined to run with comments like “I hope they (N.H.) and the rest of the country is ready for someone other than those who got us into this mess..” to Laura’s remark about Romney being in N.H.
And, this interview with Hannity was more of a disgust with a crooked, propaganda soaked leftist media – that she can better fight back in her current position – than in office (re: her reason to leave office in Ak to shut down the relentless media madness against the office of the people). And, her remarks about not shutting up, etc.. where she is now, a citizen – leaves the MSM at a disadvantage to have to go after a citizen (not a politician) and she can continue to use her sources of media as she is vs. a politician having to go through the route of the normal, hyper-biased media circus.

If Gov. Palin is going to run or not, she needs to put the focus back on the issues. There is too much screwy stuff going on to be worried about her. I am not suggesting that it is her doing it but she is the one who needs to stop it.
Cindy Munford on January 19, 2011 at 9:18 AM
The Left does what it does to protect a failing regime and a collapsing social model. The Blue Model used to be based on high taxation and big spending. Now it’s based on long term borrowing and big spending. None of that will end well. So the Left’s lapdogs in the News Media are trying to distract the People with the Shiny Pony of language and “harsh rhetoric”.
Meanwhile, China is gaining all the new manufacturing jobs. China is building the future. Not us. That is the New Reality. This can still change, but we need a radical change in direction, and we can’t do that now because we have reactionaries in power whose sole interest is growing government.
Palin gets this. This is why they hate her.
victor82 on January 19, 2011 at 9:23 AM
You can hardly blame her for that. 90% of her Facebook posts and tweets focus on issues. The problem is the media wouldn’t dare debate her on the merits of her arguments. Then they might have to acknowledge that not only is she not dumb, but that she may also be right about a lot of the things she’s said.
My hope is that if/when she does declare her candidacy and starts giving policy speeches and sitdown interviews, the focus will finally turn to the issues. Try as they might, the drive-bys can’t spend a year and a half talking about her personal life and ignore everything else.
Doughboy on January 19, 2011 at 9:33 AM
I don’t blame her at all but I think it would be a stroke of brilliance for her to force the change in subject. There is a lot going on that the media is willing to ignore while talking about her. EPA, Municipal Bonds, boring but important stuff.

Wow. I guess Palin’s got to do everything. This is Exhibit 1,999 of the standards for Palin being stratospherically high.
Here’s Exhibit 2,000: There’s another storm due to hit New England this Friday dumping yet more snow.

Hey NextGen, what are the demographics of that poll? Are they hidden per usual?
