yes I have seen him start down this path last week on his show. He is trying to show himself as a moderate and everyone to the right of him as extreme. He was talking compromise in Congress. I think Huck’s poll numbers are about to drop….

Why would he try to paint himself as a moderate? The only people who want squishy moderates are on the left.
roflcopter at anyone saying the TLC show makes Palin “SO NOT PRESIDENTIAL” yet would ever do a “second look at Huckabee?” after this segment on RedEye.

because he kSo like any good politican he knows he can’t attack Palin from the right. The left is the only field left open to him. He is counting on his christian appeal to allow him to go to the left. He is a moderate, a conservative would never pardon as many criminals as Huck did nor raise taxes as much as Huck did.
this is what people are talking about with the “poll numbers” right now those numbers mean nothing becaus e Huck , Mitt and Newt have not engaged and thus people can paint thier guy however they want. I lot of Huck supporters are going to want more IMO in about a month’s time.
He sold out Arkansians (or whatever they’re called) when he voted for in state tuition for illegals. He’s probably crying in his sasparilla about the death of the Dream Act.
I think it would help Mitt and Palin and maybe Newt. Why have a chrisitian lite or a moderate lite when you can have the real thing.
huck I think is misreading the voters here. he thinks they want compromise because the polls (which the MSM loads with dems ) say they want compromise. It has been 1 month since an election of historic consequences and Huck thinks we have all cooled down. He like most politicans is misreading the voters “wait and see” approach as compromise.
I look for Huck 2.0 soon as this line of attack goes no where and costs him in the pollls.
Huck’s argument that governing is all about compromise guarantees that his already dead campaign is still dead.
mankai on December 18, 2010 at 5:08 PM
agree. I saw him bring this out on his show last weekend with Madcow the radio guy. Madcow didn’t buy it and niether did I. Daniels and now
Huck want to compromise. I say those that push for compromise before the battle is even joined are saying more about them then anything we can say about them.
The “we must compromise” / “work together on solutions” crowd just doesn’t get the concept that mixing sugar with gasoline won’t help get the engine running any better than sugar alone.
compromise only comes into play when neither side can win. Or after you have been defeated. 2010 we won. the dems were defeated. To compromise now would be to give up that victory for nothing.
there are things we can and should compromise on for the godd of the country over the good of the party. But when your core principles are winning you do not compromise.
If you’re running for president, he was brilliant. He managed to get Palin and extreme mentioned in the same sentence several times on national TV. At the end of the clip he says…”I didn’t call Sara Palin an extremist”…..Doesn’t matter, he came out smelling like a rose on that one.
Someone ask Karl Rove why Huck being on RedEye is more Presidential than being on a travelogue show on TLC…
Seriously, Levy was totally trying to bait Huck and he was doing his best to deflect. I can’t wait for primary debates between Palin and the back benchers.
sure sure she does. I worry about people like you that can not seperate what a VP candidate says defending the POTUS candidate’s position and what the VP candidate believes backed by numerous interviews done after the election.
O’REILLY: Now, you have these people that register. You’re going to have millions of them. Then they register and they say, OK, we obeyed what President Palin told us to do. Then what? Do you give them green cards to work right away? What do you do with them?
PALIN: You know, there has to be that expectation that they will work and that they will contribute. Bill, it makes me uncomfortable that we’re even going down that path so far…
O’REILLY: You have to though.
PALIN: …when — no, no.
O’REILLY: You have to go down the path because it’s going to come up.
PALIN: American citizens who are here lawfully, they need to be the ones with the first shot at getting these jobs. We cannot make it easy on those who have chosen to be illegally here to disobey our laws. No.
O’REILLY: No, we can’t make it easy, but they’re here. And we can’t starve them to death. And if they can’t work, if they don’t have a green card to work, they’re going to be hosed. I mean, they got to pay rent, they got to buy groceries…
PALIN: Well…
O’REILLY: …this, that and the other thing. So this is where it gets very complicated, governor. You know, it gets very, very complicated…
PALIN: No.
O’REILLY: …because you are rewarding bad behavior. You’re letting them stay in the United States. And they came in illegally.
PALIN: Then let’s keep it — then we won’t complicate it anymore. Let’s keep it simple. And let’s say no, if you are here illegally, and if you don’t follow the steps that at some point through immigration reform we’re going to be able to provide, and that is to somehow allow to you work. If you’re not going to do that, then you will be deported. You will be gone.
Palin is for work permits for illegals once the border is secure.
That is amnesty. The law calls for them to leave, and legal status will eventually lead to cit.
IF you steal a car, and you get caught, and the cops say “well, just pay a fine, and get your license, but you don’t have to go to jail and you GET TO KEEP THE CAR, then that, my illogical libertarian, is AMNESTY.
Same thing with immigration.
Logic test for John the Libertarian:
How can you advocate the dismantling of the welfare state, while at the same time, advocate granting legal status, path to cit, or cit, to TENS OF MILLIONS of CLIENTS OF THE WELFARE STATE?
That question goes double for Nick Gillespie, the WSJ, and the Chamber of Commerce too.
And the answer is, you don’t really give one good g*ddamn about the welfare state, you just want someone else to pay for it, and you want the right to hire illegals off the books.
Red Eye to Huckabee: Are you calling Palin an extremist?
Godwin’s Law states whoever invokes the Nazis or Hitler (read: EXTREMIST) when making an argument against an opponent ends up on the losing side of the argument. HUCKSTER LOSES.
Using Huckster’s Term: REID AND THE REST OF THE SENATE ARE EXTREMIST. THEY FAILED THEIR OWN OMNIBUS BILL!

In GOP circles calling an opponent an “extremist” is our version of Godwin’s Law.

Huckabee thought he had one-upped Palin by announcing he would not be thinking about declaring for the presidency until the summer.
And he thought Palin would enter the race early so she could be smacked around by the MSM and wounded.
Now that Palin has announced she is “months away” from making a decision, she has now one-upped Huckabee.
Huck, calling Palin an extremist. Have you forgotten who your base is my friend: evangelical voters.
You just called your supporters and Palin’s evangelical supporters extremist.

Anything that absolves them of that requirement is amnesty.
