David Plouffe: It’ll be a disgrace if the GOP doesn’t take back Congress
“By their definition, success is winning back the House, winning back the Senate and winning every major governor’s race,” Plouffe, Obama’s 2008 campaign manager, said. “When you’ve got winds this strong in your favor, that’s the kind of election you need to have – or it should be considered a colossal failure.”

You think you’re so damn cute, don’t you, David?

The left changes the meanings of words so that reality doesn’t come crashing down around them. Orwell would be proud.

Let’s hammer him with as many seats possible, make him gasp in horror

“See? The GOP didn’t elect a single Supreme Court Justice, in the midterm elections, therefore they’re a colossal failure”.
LincolntheHun on October 8, 2010 at 3:07 PM
Lowering expectations to the point that, if the Democrats win a single race in November it’s a victory, may be David’s way of giving the big middle finger to everyone asking him how his, Rahm and Axe’s political acumen could have resulted in such a flustercluck. And since his guy doesn’t have to run until 2012 Plouffe doesn’t really care if a statement like that depresses Democratic turnout for Nov. 2. But for the elected officials just trying to hang on, it’s going to be another reason to get ticked off at the egotistical idiots in the White House.

The only disgrace here is that you and the rest like you aren’t dragged out in handcuffs to face treason charges

House and Governorships, yes… but I don’t think it’ll be a disgrace if the GOP doesn’t take the Senate. Most analysts never saw the GOP as taking the Senate.
Abby Adams on October 8, 2010 at 3:12 PM
Wow..this desperate so soon? Bwahahahaha
SouthernGent on October 8, 2010 at 3:12 PM
Yeah, but looks like the senate will be flipping. 52-48 or 51-49.
lorien1973 on October 8, 2010 at 3:14 PM
Wait, just last week Pelosi promised that the house would remain democrat…we don’t need a win to make what the dems have done a disgrace.
right2bright on October 8, 2010 at 3:14 PM
Aren’t you missing 14 or so senators?

Kaus (I believe) calls this the dradle, dradle, dradle move.

The WH and its surrogates aren’t in a position to be using the word “disgrace” when referring to others.
obladioblada on October 8, 2010 at 3:23 PM
That would be the heading under which David Plouffe’s picture is posted.

Oh, c’mon guys — he is something of an expert regarding “colossal failure”.
cthulhu on October 8, 2010 at 3:24 PM
Keep telling yourself that you’ve got this thing all figured out, Poofter. Keep telling yourself that and you’ll find yourself minus significant chunks of your behind this year and in 2012.
ya2daup on October 8, 2010 at 3:24 PM
On planet San Francisco, the house will remain democrat.
VibrioCocci on October 8, 2010 at 3:25 PM
I think he is tempting fate. I would love to be a fly on the wall in the WH on November 2nd.

I see the polls tightening and I thought that the wave may not be as big as we had hoped.
Then I see statements like this one from Plouffe and it just screams fear. They see the internal poll results that we don’t see and it just tells me the tsunami is coming.
redeye on October 8, 2010 at 3:31 PM
That may be the most ham-handed effort to manage expectations I’ve seen. Really terrible.

Because Barack Obama didn’t win with 60% of the vote, given the political climate in ’08, I consider him a complete and colossal failure.
/wow, that was easy.

Mary in LA on October 8, 2010 at 3:42 PM
Well, David Plouffe should know from overstated expectations. Seems like every few months last year there was an article in WaPo or POLITICO about how his organizing genius was beyond the comprehension of corporeal beings and that he was being tapped to engineer/mount/steer/ speak into existence a movement the likes of which have not been seen since 2008. And then…nothing.
Threshing Flora on October 8, 2010 at 3:45 PM
“Disgrace.” I do not think that word means what you think it means.
Aardvark on October 8, 2010 at 3:48 PM
You mean an even bigger collossal failure than the way the democrats have been running government for the past several years, thus creating the “winds this strong” favoring republicans?
I guess what he’s trying to say is: “the system worked.”
wildweasel on October 8, 2010 at 3:49 PM

Is it this one:

He’s slightly less moronic than crr6 who said we have to win 100 Senate seats or we’re all losers.
Chuck Schick on October 8, 2010 at 4:13 PM
I still think this entire Presidency is one big joke played on America by Plouffe and Axelrod. They wanted to see if they could get a total cipher elected President, and they did. What happened after that was never their concern.

OK, we’ve got our challenge…Now let’s get out there and fight for a “TEA-nami” sized Conservative victory in every single race for Federal, state and local offices!
Let’s make Democrat heads spin on November 2!
wren on October 8, 2010 at 4:37 PM
Oh yeah, it will be epic.
Remember, Barry, Sheriff Joe, and Franken the Clown are going to DELAWARE to stump for Harry Reid’s pet bearded Marxist. Chris Coons is in deep doo-doo.
Dingle, whose family has had that seat since FDR and the New Deal is getting killed by Dr Rob Steele (I LOVE that name)
Chet Edwards down here is Texas has had his ass welded to his seat forever. The legislature even tried gerrymandering him into oblivion, and he’d still win.
He’s being destroyed by an unknown, Bill Flores, who Sarah Palin mentioned on Facebook last night.
We are going to continually hear about people who we don’t even know of, who are going down.

I can live with his definition of failure.

Now THATs failure baby and plouffe boy, you own it.
