Hi Hawk! We’re actually in WS. But, half the family lives there still, so we’re there often. I love the triangle. Well, except that baby blue part of town.
These activists are not stupid at all. They are on a very successful crusade to subsume the English language to their liking – and to hell with what anyone else mat think.
When the kid unit of the Hawk Tribe was ill, we spent a lot of time in the liberal enclave of Chapel Hill. Makes you appreciate the Fayetteville/Raeford area. It’s in keeping with the topic of the thread too. The crap you hear, see and read in those beautiful necks of the woods just makes me ill and not wanting to go there. Nothing misses their outrage.
The funny thing is that last time I was at Target buying cards I noticed that they have a whole section of “Ebony cards” for black people. Seriously. I checked to see if they were next to the “Ivory cards” that were exclusively for white people, but nope; looks like only the black people have cards specifically made to tenderly reference their experiences as people with darker skin pigmentation. I always wonder how black people can consistently vote in hacks like Jefferson, Waters, Mckinley, Obama; but I think this helps explain it.
Well, my family went to Duke, hubs, his siblings, dad and grandmother all went to NCState, and my mom in law went to Carolina. So, March Madness is fun. But, yeah, Carborro is particularly bad. I DO love the Trader Joes though!
In Durham, the racial divide is INTENSE, you know? Probably because the Duke campus is smack in the middle of some poor neighborhoods. The locals consider it a rich white school and anyone working there is a plantation slave (their words). Lots of old money and old grudges, as I’m sure you know.
Bee, I watched a news special some time back about a woman that moved from I think a northern city to get her two boys away from gangs. She picked Durham NC and within a couple months both of her kids were involved with and one had been killed by gang violence there. Very sad if you’re familiar with the story.
All Florida Orange Juice is being pulled off the shelf…the Jews find it offensive…
The word RAP is no longer being used, the Japanese are very offended…
Roy Rogers horse will now be known as simple “His horse”…
The will no longer be called telephone polls, but telephone units, Polish were upset…
Automobiles will no longer have “engines”, native Americans want them to be called “power units”…however the Utes have filed a protest, and are demanding them to be called “those things that make the car go”…
no longer will dry cleaners ask if your shirts are colored…
detergent…for colored or plain or white?
We have a lot of work to do to straighten out all of these racist expressions…did I say racist or fascist?
Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton sez, ” Quick! Let’s riot in the streets and make this a national issue so we can get some face time on the evening news!
Black whores are ominous? Since when? Pcoop on June 11, 2010 at 9:04 AM
Well, at least since the Duke Lacrosse team had a little celebration. Oh, maybe before that, when Tawana Brawley did whatever the f*%K she did. Oh and maybe before that,… oh never mind. These people are insane.
You know what’s more offensive to black people? Stupid black people. The NAACP is basically saying that black people are so uneducated that, in a discussion of astronomy, they hear “black holes” and “black wh*res,” lacking all context to make the distinction, where the general public was able to do so for the years that the card has been on the market. “We are too dumb to know about astronomy” should not be a selling point for the “advancement” of a race….
Blowback

Reminds me of the seminar poster in the Thompson Physics building at Ohio State many (many) years ago that read:
My brain full of mush came away with a life lesson from the backlash and subsequent removal. The (faux) offended do not surprise me anymore.

During our flight debriefs, “jenkinsing” is used to describe any failure to follow the briefing.
You really “jenkinsed” the landing plan.

I looked but can’t find that particular story. In googling though, there’s a ton of other stories about the gangs in Durham and NC in general. Amazing
