Sarah Palin
A response to “Family Guy”
People are asking me to comment on yesterday’s Fox show that felt like another kick in the gut. Bristol was one who asked what I thought of the show that mocked her baby brother, Trig (and/or others with special needs), in an episode yesterday. Instead of answering, I asked her what she thought. Here is her conscientious reply, which is a much more restrained and gracious statement than I want to make about an issue that begs the question, “when is enough, enough?”

It is never enough, Sarah, and never will be. They HATE you.
H A T E you.
Don’t try to understand why. Don’t try to reason with it. Don’t try to make nice with them.
It makes no sense to average people, but it doesn’t have to. Crap like this will never be enough for them because they – the left – hate. It’s all they know. It’s who they are and it’s what they do.
Just keep on truckin.
Good Lt on February 16, 2010 at 1:05 PM
Well said Bristol.
Amadeus on February 16, 2010 at 1:06 PM
Hate is etah spelled backwards.
GW_SS-Delta on February 16, 2010 at 1:07 PM
“THEY” will consider it enough, when they drive you out of politics totaly.
Hmmmmm… who are the sponsors and advertisers on this show?
Romeo13 on February 16, 2010 at 1:08 PM
Sarah & Bristol Palin = Big Momma and Little Momma bears. Go get em!
mizflame98 on February 16, 2010 at 1:08 PM
MSM to go after Bristol in 5…4…3…2…Oh wait, they have already gone after her!
deidre on February 16, 2010 at 1:09 PM
Sarah Palin and her family deserve this treatment because of what they have done. I mean, having a special needs baby instead of aborting him – how selfish! Criticizing Obama and trying to prevent his Marxist takeover of the US?!…I’ve killed people for less. /sarc
The left hates her so much they can’t even remeber why they do. When you get past the disengenuous criticisms, that if they were being honest probably also apply to most of their beloved lefties (if they are even true at all), you drill down to the real reason for the hatred: she criticizes Obama in a very effective manner.
Kataklysmic on February 16, 2010 at 1:12 PM
If Sarah or any other Palin family member never seeks public office again I will always be thankful for their traditional family values.
fourdeucer on February 16, 2010 at 1:12 PM
Just waiting for FG to show a cartoon of Mohammed. Or how about a blackface skit?
rbj on February 16, 2010 at 1:13 PM
Bristol knows that her response will foster in a Hate Thread against her. She chose this path with that knowledge. Sarah knows this too! I am very proud of her. Courageous like her mama!
Amadeus on February 16, 2010 at 1:13 PM
It will never be enough. The reason the small-minded, hate-filled, miserable left-wing continues to attack the Palins–yes, even the baby–is because they get attention when they do it.
At the end of the day, they are nothing more than attention whores.
NebCon on February 16, 2010 at 1:14 PM
Translated in to English, what does this mean?
Good Lt on February 16, 2010 at 1:15 PM
The FG bit was stupid and uncalled for, but does every attack merit a response? For a dunce like McFarlane, this is just positive reinforcement. Of course, I don’t know how I’d react if I were the target as Palin is.
Dead Hand Control on February 16, 2010 at 1:15 PM
I suspect that Seth McFarlane has the talent to produce a funny show. Instead he chooses to pi$$ away that talent on an unfunny piece of crap. Too bad.

David Letterman…
Mr. David Letterman…
Please pick up a white courtesy telephone…
Mr. David Letterman…
(I was born twenty years too late. I always wanted to be paged in an airport for a very important telephone call… Oh, well…)
turfmann on February 16, 2010 at 1:15 PM
Are you kidding?
That would be offensive!
Good Lt on February 16, 2010 at 1:16 PM
What did Family Guy do?
I don’t watch the show. I generally find it painfully stupid.
Count to 10 on February 16, 2010 at 1:17 PM
If national TV was mocking your defenseless child you may react the same way. I would. Family first, Politician last.
Amadeus on February 16, 2010 at 1:19 PM
The Family Guy bit was dumb and insulting, but there are bigger fish to fry. I’m sure if she looked around she’d find plenty more examples of libs making even cruder “jokes”, but knowing which battles to pick and which to ignore is important. That show isn’t worth the time or attention.
changer1701 on February 16, 2010 at 1:19 PM
I haven’t watched Family Guy in a couple years.
I would have stopped responding to these nitwits simply because it’s exhausting to keep up with all of it, but it looks like Palin’s going to stick to her guns. She had two choices, ignore it or go all the way and it looks like she’s gonna fire both barrels and keep reloading.
darwin on February 16, 2010 at 1:23 PM
What’s “Family Guy?”
beatcanvas on February 16, 2010 at 1:25 PM
What don’t sound like English? Traditional family values sound confusing or maybe or practicing what they believe. I really don’t understand your question.
fourdeucer on February 16, 2010 at 1:26 PM
She promised that she would stand up for families with special needs children. She’s living up to that promise.
NoNails on February 16, 2010 at 1:26 PM
Is that all?
Please tell me there is something more objectionable that this, if Palin is going to respond to it.
Count to 10 on February 16, 2010 at 1:27 PM
So Palin should pick and fight the battles YOU think more important? How dare she speak regarding something that affects her personally when there are political issues that need to be railed against. /s
katiejane on February 16, 2010 at 1:27 PM
Ah, the old, I won’t comment but here is what my “daughter” said about it defense.
Is anyone believing that Bristol in a conversation with her mother said: “My siblings and I all have that, but insults directed at our youngest brother hurt too much for us to remain silent.”
Yea, that sounds like normal conversation.
Just come out and say what you feel Palin, don’t try and use your children for cover.
thphilli on February 16, 2010 at 1:28 PM
With her response, Bristol Palin, a teenage girl, shows more maturity, intelligence, common sense and compassion than the left wing idiots who senselessly and maliciously attack her family.
For that matter, Trig Palin has more maturity, intelligence, common sense and compassion than the attack dogs on the left.
UltimateBob on February 16, 2010 at 1:28 PM
And it seems like she’s been keeping that promise far longer than the president has been keeping any of his.
WesternActor on February 16, 2010 at 1:28 PM
That is why she is defended tooth and nail. Nice comments by her daughter for her son.
Spirit of 1776 on February 16, 2010 at 1:30 PM
He does make a funny show. Its called American Dad. Family Guy is boring tripe nowadays. There is literally nothing to laugh at watching Family Guy.
thphilli on February 16, 2010 at 1:31 PM
She’s not a politician right now. She is however a mother of 5.
Amadeus on February 16, 2010 at 1:32 PM
Does seem a little formal, doesn’t it?
But perhaps it is the “told” part that isn’t literal.
Count to 10 on February 16, 2010 at 1:33 PM
hey look! a talking ass!
Amadeus on February 16, 2010 at 1:33 PM
And?
Unless there is something more to the story, just having a handicapped character imply relation to her is more of an eye roller than an insult.
I’m just waiting for someone to tell me what I’m missing here. Is the character herself some terrible insult? Because the line quoted above is basically neutral.
Count to 10 on February 16, 2010 at 1:38 PM
Anybody else think fictional Todd Palin as accountant was also a jab? Family Guy Seth has a friend.
If Palin believes that the r-word and the n-word are equivalent then it follows that Rush’s satirical r-word laced rant could have been supplanted with a multiple uses of the n-word. Think about it. It would never fly…because it’s BS.
Rahm, Rush, Family Guy show, Sarah Silverman and many Hotairheads are all guilty of the same offense. I’m ashamed for Palin; her duplicity failed Trig and many others when she could have been the stalwart figurehead on this issue.
Basically, partisan-gamesmanship trumped responsibility and conviction. IMO she didn’t want to alienate Rush and his listeners on the heels of riskily endorsing McCain. Rush mocked her openly and cruelly.
Perhaps, Palin was being just too kind to see it that way. She doesn’t seem like the type that would be backed down and mocked so openly about this issue. I hope she rights herself and pushes ahead. She has given a great shot in the arm to the r-word campaign.

Family Guy offensive satire = bad
Welcome to the planet Doublestandardia.
Population: Palin.

Where I admire Sarah and Bristol for speaking out, I’m still of the opinion that Seth McFarland has the right to say (project) anything (no matter how repulsive) he wants to, under the First Amendment.
However, just because there an idiot in the corner, jumping up and down, pi$$ing himself and yelling “Look at me! Look at me! Look at meeeeeeee!” doesn’t mean that serious people need to give the idiot attention. He’s gained notoriety by this, and the responses have just made him more happy, I’m sure.
To Sarah and Bristol: You GO Girls! Ignore the dunce in the corner with the loud voice and wet nappies.

Dude you ‘nistas need to chill out. FG does an episode with a joke like that knowing you crazy asses are going to flip. FG has more buzz today on the net due to the nistas than it has ever recieved on any given day. The fact you guys get into such a tizzy over it is half the joke. Every ‘nista is talking about FG today, thats the point of calculated and contrived “controversy”. AP you must love watching the insanity!
snoopicus on February 16, 2010 at 1:41 PM
Seth McFarlane is talented and funny, but bows before a left of center altar of bile and hate (despite being an atheist). One can either enjoy his work and ignore the selective bits that are rank stupid and insulting, or one can change the channel.
The First Amendment is a beautiful thing, but so is the public marketplace and the forces that drive it. If enough people tune out, the problem is resolved permanently.
God bless the Palins for fighting the fight, but at some point she will be resigned to accept the occasional hate as part of the territory that comes with being a public figure trying to affect change for the country on the political landscape.
Chuck Heston certainly understood this, as did Ronald Reagan. Here is hoping that she continues to toughen her hide for the tough days ahead.

Why enter a discussion if you don’t know anything about what’s being discussed? If you didn’t see any or all of it, why try to offer an opinion?
NoNails on February 16, 2010 at 1:43 PM
Didn’t Rush do a voice over for the show? I don’t recall it ever airing?

Look at me I don’t dare criticize Palin I’m going to pretend she didn’t give Rush a pass and maybe it will go away.
Dave Rywall on February 16, 2010 at 1:44 PM
Rush satirically used the n word for months after the LA Times article.
The quote argument only works if one is ignorant of the facts. Rush is consistent, which is undoubtedly something Palin and others grasp.
