Damn, Allahpundit is a Chamberlain-esque RINO jackass
I’m hardly the first to make this point, but I’ll be damned if I ever forget it. Weren’t we proselytized by the politically savvy Republican moderates that nominating McCain would appeal to Independents, broaden the reach of the Republicans who had so often been tarred as rigid reactionaries? What happened? All the prominent moderates and Independents we were pandering to endorsed and voted for Obama. I mean, if there’s hardly any difference between the Dem and the Repub, all the kudos go to endorsing the Dem. Hell, I’m not even certain that McCain voted for McCain. I know his damn daughter didn’t.
It better not be that easy next time. And the AllahPundits of this world had better think up a new schtick for the next election cycle. Because the old one keeps reminding me of Neville Chamberlain.
Sorry, Allah. Sorry, Ed, Sorry, Michelle. I know you’re making money by covering the whole waterfront with seemingly disparate positions that add up to Republican diversity. But there can be no acceptable diversity when what’s at stake is our country. That’s not a polling kerfuffle. For most of us, the ones who don’t make our living posturing about who’s up and who’s down today, it’s a bitterly real question of whether we get to live the rest of our lives free or as slaves of the state. If the Independents can’t figure that out in spite of your temporizing, well, screw-em. Sometimes a smaller tent is more attractive — because it seems more of an accomplishment to get into. That’s the paradox.

Funny yet true: Instapunk himself tipped me to this.

Sorry ap, he’s right.

So, is this his 15 minutes? I’d never heard of him before this.

Snap!

Lowering the amount of people willing to vote for you is rarely a good electoral strategy.
Revenant on November 18, 2009 at 7:46 PM
Don’t hold back punk. Tell us how you really feel.
mizflame98 on November 18, 2009 at 7:46 PM
hmm. maybe im dense but i never saw Allah pushing the super moderate argument. didn’t you support Fred Thompson?…
Drunk Report on November 18, 2009 at 7:47 PM
Nah…don’t agree with you all the time, but love ya Allah! You may be the most honest blogger in the blogesphere and you are right much more often than you are wrong. And even when I think you are wrong, you often have an interesting point. Hotair rocks!
AUINSC on November 18, 2009 at 7:47 PM
I’ve always thought of AP as trying to poke holes in the popular theories and point out potential weaknesses than necessarily being a Chamberlain-esque RINO jackass.
Dark Eden on November 18, 2009 at 7:49 PM
Stop selling us out.

Allahpundit flames himself. Love it.

He actually sent AP the link. He’s looking for traffic.
amerpundit on November 18, 2009 at 7:52 PM
If AP is a moderate, I shudder to think what Instapunk’s idea of conservative is.
RightOFLeft on November 18, 2009 at 7:52 PM
I would defend your conservatism, Allahpundit, but I was once called the Olympia Snowe of Hot Air….so I’m probably not the right person.
terryannonline on November 18, 2009 at 7:53 PM
Talk about Hot Air red meat.
Enoxo on November 18, 2009 at 7:54 PM
Ed is the real McCain-supporting RINO if you ask me.
AP is a libertarian atheist who knows that God has a calling on his life.
Valiant on November 18, 2009 at 7:55 PM
The trouble is he seems to have made that his “niche.”
Sharke on November 18, 2009 at 7:55 PM
Charles Johnson would have 4 posts up by now and banned every commenter from the site with a common name to both if this was about him and LGF.
Instapunk forgot to mention Meghan McCain among the motivations too. At least for AP.
Rocks on November 18, 2009 at 7:57 PM
Sorry, punk, if your tent has no room for libertarians, I’m not interested. Keep it to fiscal responsibility, and watch the great unwashed masses flood the temple.
John the Libertarian on November 18, 2009 at 7:57 PM
Folks…Allah is the best friend conservatives have…even when he disagrees with us.

amerpundit on November 18, 2009 at 7:52 PM
I have a feeling he was not simply looking for traffic, but wanting AP to know how he feels and sharing it with the HA community.
therightscoop on November 18, 2009 at 7:57 PM
Hey, Allah. Are you so lonely in NYC that you need to be friends with this guy?
He says that the piece is not for bashing Allah. So what then is its purpose? Now I’m all for bashing Allah if done in jest and by those who actually like him (sort of like the old Dean Martin roasts).
But the slimy tactic of disclaiming while doing what is disclaimed is beyond my tolerance level. Instapunk might think he’s the cat’s meow but I’m not seeing it played out.
Anyway, Palin will be the next president and there’s not a damn thing the democraps can do to stop it nor is there any hope of the linguine spined RINOs staying in the party when Sarah plants her flag inside the tent.
Take it to the bank – it’s gold. Fear us – we’re coming.

2000 comments or bust.
AUINSC on November 18, 2009 at 7:58 PM
Believe it or not, the guy who wrote that actually e-mailed it to me. Looking for a link, I guess? @allahpundit via twitter account.
I saw this on your twitter Allahpundit. So he e-mailed this to you and linked it to the headlines. Good for you I think. Did you also read the first comment made on his blog? Or did you write the first comment on his blog? It sure sounded a little like you.

Lol.

No, I haven’t commented on another site in ages.
Allahpundit on November 18, 2009 at 8:00 PM
I can never tell if Mr. Pundit is pushing my buttons because he likes doing it, or is he trying to play devils advocate and force conservatives to defend their conclusions. Or is he just lighting the fires and stoking the page view counts.
Those points he does choose to defend are rarely conservative, at least as I would define the philosophy.

We love you anyway, AP… Ish.

Is this another thread on AllahPundit? Why are you giving this AllahPundit attention? /
infidel on November 18, 2009 at 8:03 PM
Poor AP…
Yeah, all this talk of “We’d rather lose than elect RINO’s” nonsense again. Because not voting for McCain and/or bashing him relentlessly thus turning off the independents and guaranteeing an Obama victory has worked out SO WELL!
Anyone who would rather have a liberal Democrat in DC over a “moderate” Republican is absolutely insane. You all can pay my higher taxes then.

No, in NYC he counts as a knuckle dragger like the rest of us.
Cindy Munford on November 18, 2009 at 8:05 PM
Hmmm. What other historical figure can you compare Allahpundit to?
terryannonline on November 18, 2009 at 8:06 PM
No, what you have to do is get your message out in a coherent fashion. Don’t go for a big tent, get a good barker who will attract people to your tent.
The last few Republican years saw ever increasing deficits, expansion of the federal government’s power (No Child Left Behind). I am tired of the Rockefeller/Nixon (we are all Kensians now) wing of the party. I’d much prefer someone from the Goldwater/Reagan wing.
Now this doesn’t mean everyone has to hold every Republican tenet, Dede Scozza-something would be acceptable, if she were running in Nancy Pelosi’s district. But why go for a RINO in a conservative district. And given his repeated voting with Dems over Republicans, why should Republicans want Arlan Specter to have an R next to his name?
Fiscally irresponsible big government types are no better if they have an R rather than a D next to their name.
rbj on November 18, 2009 at 8:06 PM
AP is in a different class than LGF, Meghan McCain, the MSM “Token Conservative” gallery, etc. When I think of the term RINO I think of people who call themselves Republican but clearly do not have the best interests of the party at heart. AP is not like that at all, at least as far as this humble semi lurker can tell.
But yes, AP, the general mood is that you will link to almost anything negative towards the party but sometimes forget to keep us up on the day to day goings on within the party.
Dark Eden on November 18, 2009 at 8:07 PM
Oh my, that’s way to harsh.
Cindy Munford on November 18, 2009 at 8:07 PM
ROTFLMAO… I wonder how many people here have figured out that you enjoy poking fun of yourself almost as much as you enjoy poking fun of everyone else???
doriangrey on November 18, 2009 at 8:10 PM
Who the hell is Instapunk?
We don’t want some outsider beating up AP, damn it, we want to do that ourselves. Got it? When someone else does it, I get my back up…heh
d1carter on November 18, 2009 at 8:11 PM
Apparently not.
AUINSC on November 18, 2009 at 8:11 PM
Too logical, JB. Won’t earn you any friends around here, any more than even the mildest criticism of Palin or her crusaders will.
I would have voted for Huckaweasel if he had gotten the nomination, for that matter, even though I can’t stand him. Or anyone who wanted to claim Republican status and could fog a mirror.
Why?
Two words: Osama Obama.
MrScribbler on November 18, 2009 at 8:12 PM
One thing i hardly ever see pointed out about the “moderate big tent” crowd is that they mainly want to push social conservatives out of the party. How is pushing people out of the party creating a big tent? Do they really think that for every social conservative they get rid of, they’ll get at least two “moderate” Republicans or independents in return? Seems unlikely to say the least.
