Is Obama serious about Afghanistan?
You don’t have to be a “CSI” investigator to see that Gibbs wasn’t going to leave a trace of evidence on this one. It was a simple query: Would Obama also say that the United States will hang tough until the job is done? The press secretary, though, fended it off. And later in the briefing, he commented, “We cannot stay there forever.” That is not the Rasmussen position. That means the leaders of the two key forces in Afghanistan cannot agree on their respective dedication to the mission. Sounds awkward.

No. Not now. Never was.
He just said it, like he says everything, because that’s what people wanted to hear at the time. Haven’t you been paying attention at all?

I would surely not like to have my son or daughter in this man’s army. He never mentions the soldiers, never talks about how wonderful they are. I think he would just like to leave them there until they all disappeared. I hope all the hopey dopey people who voted for this idiot are happy. I guess this is what they wanted so I guess they are happy.

What’s with the trick questions?
The real question: was he ever serious about it in the first place?
Answer: NO.

Obama is in fact so sooper-cereal about Afghanistan, he has to make his point by spending time in Copenhagen to get the Olympics to Chicago in seven years.
I don’t think Obama could be any more serious than that.

Candidate Obama in a speech last year at the Woodrow Wilson Center of the CFR:
Words, just words….

Osama Obama is interested only in himself.
It’s as simple as that.

Of course not. TV stations in Aspen are far more accommodating.

It’s David Corn. What is he thinking?

Of course, SFB, Obama, is not at all serious about Afghanistan. Afghanistan is just in inconvenient sideshow. SFB-Obama is only concerned about implementing marxism and overthrowing the US Constitution. We must fight him every millimeter of the way.

America should get out of Afghanistan. It’s an irrelevant backwater. Republicans/conservatives should not let themselves be tricked into championing expansion of that war!
It’s in Obama interest to let the Afghan war turn into a quagmire. It will reenergize the far left. The blame will fall to Robert Gates and Hillary Clinton.
An Afghan quagmire will give Obama an opportunity to position himself as the moderate between the “warmongers” and the far left, and at the same time an excuse to gut the military for his domestic programs.

Obama is serious about the glorification of Obama.
He wants the grass crown.

Obama can answer this…
…by giving as much attention to this war that he has given his failing health care proposal:
…..then we will start to see that Obama is taking this war seriously.
Baxter Greene on October 1, 2009 at 1:04 AM
Obama has spent more time and effort talking to public school kids and the Olympic committee than he has talking about war strategy with his field commanders.
