POGs (pathetic old geezers) like me worry about this stuff, ya’ know.
My collie says:
The troops aren’t POGs, CC.
Some of the senior officers qualify, I’m sure.
My collie says:
Is that why the Pentagon is shaped the way it is?

A congressman over worried with pornography, I would LOVE to see what he is trying to cover up by taking such a strict stance.

I think his strict stance on the prOn is to cover up for a certain “wide stance” in the bathroom stall…if you catch my drift.

I am guessing maybe his wife found some questionable links on his computer which he tried to explain away, lol. And now he has to show just how serious he is that those weren’t his bookmarks.
muyoso on April 24, 2008 at 7:47 PM
Congressman Broun is an “addictionologist”, just think of the links he’s followed up on and the spam filter on his computer.
When a congressman has to go on moral crusades to strip soldiers of their porn (and by the way, if anybody deserves porn, it’s the soldiers), he’s officially are asleep on the job.
“Honey, no! That’s not porn – that’s part of my presentation!”
§ 933. Art. 133. Conduct unbecoming an officer
and a gentleman Any commissioned officer, cadet, or midshipman who is convicted of conduct unbecoming an officer and a gentleman shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.
§ 934. Art. 134. General article
Though not specifically mentioned in this chapter, all disorders and neglects to the prejudice of good order and discipline in the armed forces, all conduct of a nature to bring discredit upon thearmed forces, and crimes and offenses not capital, of which persons subject to this chapter may be guilty, shall be taken cognizance of by a general, special, or summary court-martial,according to the nature and degree of the offense, and shall be punished at the discretion of that court.
Besides the fact this would violate sexual harasment laws It’s hypocritical and would give credence to allowing openly gay/homosexuals to serve. (I’m not being anti-gay, right now) There is no place for porn in our military.
The enforcement of your decrees is worse than any possible offense you claim.
But let me defer to someone from my comments section whom I respect greatly, Froggy of Froggy Ruminations:
I threw some rope every day of my Iraq deployment and am none the worse for it. When I was in BUD/S, we used to turn on a porn video as soon as the instructors came in for room inspections. Invariably they would all gather around the TV for a few minutes and completely forget to inspect our room ensuring a passing grade. That’s what happens when men treat you like men, not moralizing douchebags treating the military like children.
Porn is an addiction. A mind is warp to think that “a substantial amount of sexual activity” equates to a “healty relationship”
I don’t want to insult you or disrespect your service to our country. I just completely disagree with you.
Furthermore, I believe The USA would be better off without pornography (including FMH, STUFF, MAXIM etc.) all together. If It could be accomplished I would be all for it.
I have lived on four destroyers in my life. The most private room I shared had only forty sailors in it. Saying I am ignorant of the dangers of pornography is incorrect on an epic scale.
Second: The UCMJ is not a set of decrees, it is the law. The interpretation of the law is predicated on good order of the military. Your interpretation is substantially flawed and not practiced in the military. Because doing so would be incredibly prejudicial to good order and discipline.
Thirdly: Good luck with that. Any commander who adhered to your deranged vision of what makes their troops mission effective would find himself with the worst FitRep in military history. That’s the thing: none of this has anything to do with the effectiveness of the troops in accomplishing the mission. Note please the experience of the SEAL who has pulled a tour (amongst other things) in Iraq already.
You are apparently incapable of learning from real military personnel. As if I was a Star Wars geek!
Put up or shut up. The Star Wars comment is something I would take from a friend who has proven themselves. From a stranger on the internet it marks you as a zealot and a tool. I am a solidly sworn for milblogger and long service NCO. I’ve been overseas with the original milblogger, LT SMASH. What’s your credentials?
What world are you from where you think that a lot of sexual activity is not healthy in a relationship? Again, as in the other thread, porn is not an addiction. No more than religion is.
muyoso on April 25, 2008 at 12:44 AM
You know, the last word I would ever think of in association with the word “solider” is “masturbation”. Sheesh.

ooohhh Patrick wow….I’m so impressed.
You’re a pervert who wants to justify being a pervert. Whatever.
You are why conservatives lose elections. You are intolerant and disrespectful to people whose view differ from your own. You must hate democracy almost as much a it minimizes your intolerance.
Its my thing to dress in clothing from the 19th century and have my entire life revolve around religion, wow, you have me pegged. /sarcasm
Too bad WE are taking YOUR country away from you. I hope you are disgusted with what we make of it. I hope we have violent video games for everyone, and pornography for everyone, and all sorts of other things that you are against.
Oh, don’t be so hard on elraphbo…he watched this week’s South Park and won’t break character from his 1874 Quaker persona.
Or he’s Fred Phelps.

There are countries in the Middle East that don’t have porn either.
Freedom of speech is for everyone and unfortunatly some people will do things with that freedom that you disagree with (like make porn rags). Trust me, you do things with your freedoms that other people disagree with. But other than that, as long as it isn’t illegal, what business is it of yours? It’s between them and God.
But what I say is if you are willing to go overseas and take a bullet in the head for me so that I don’t have to take one here at home then you deserve the release. Pop one off for America!
Blowback

First: You’re ignorance and naivety of the dangers of pornography on our society is obvious.
Second: The USMJ is an acronym for Uniform Code of Military Justice. Those are not my decrees.
Thirdly: I have not called for any actions against soldiers for failing to live up to the standards of our own Code.
you Have a lot to learn.

Addictions: cause derangement, force justification and are identified initially by denial of any problem.
