A liberal like McCain is just as likely to pick Ted Kennedy.

So McCain is supposed to pass on Sanford just because he wasn’t a big cheerleader for McCain during the primaries, while many predict McCain will pick Romney, who hated McCain during the primaries?
There’s the foolish “liberal McCain” slander again.
McCain has a long track record as a conservative. For the last few years he has made a FEW moves against high-profile conservative issues. But he still has a lifetime 83% lifetime rating by the ACU, compared to Hillary’s 9% & Obama’s 8%. And McCain has never wavered as a gov’t-waste-and-spending cutter.
Whatever. McCain would be smart to pick Sanford, but Sanford will do fine in the future without McCain.
People around here love him, and I would just as soon keep him as Governor right now anyway. He’ll get his chance.

The “maverick” is not a conservative just because he decided to start calling himself a conservative to add to his campaign image. In my view, he’s worse than Arlen Specter. If he wants to promote liberal policies, good, then liberals can vote for him. He’s a democrap wanta be and will never have my support or vote.

I love Mark Sanford. Met him and he was a great guy. I’ve heard some of his speeches and they were really top notch. He is a rising CONSERVATIVE star…. NOT a Republican star.
And this is exactly why I would not want his career destroyed by having him saddled with McCain. McCain would be the albatross, the mill stone that would ruin Sanford.
Blowback

Yeah, when Mac goes left he goes full-bore unconstitutional. Fortunately there are enough conservatives left to make it high-profile.

Yeah, it’s a good thing that McCain actually voted conservatively as a freshman Senator to buoy his lifetime rating…
2006 – 65%
2005 – 80%
2004 – 72%
2003 – 75%
2002 – 78%
2001 – 68%

WTH
you never know..
with the stroke McCain has had, the high stress level of the job, McCain’s temper.. and his age.. dunno how his heart is..
other than not quite a lump of coal because he IS a Republican.. but he reaches across the isle a time or two..
Mark Sanford might be the closest heartbeat to the oval office..
