Alexi Giannoulius is mobbed up allegedly. People don’t want to attack him because they’re afraid they’ll get whacked by the Outfit. He’s their man like Obama was for ACORN. Scary situation.
Ted Torgerson on November 8, 2009 at 5:22 PM
John Wayne Gacy would be able to beat 0bama in Illinois in 2012.
Alexi’s boyfriend Dick Durbin is sucky enough for our state. I may not like Kirk very much, but if he gets the Repub nom…ads like this are enough to get me out there fighting on his behalf…

This just proves how secretly scared the Democrats are of someone they claim to have no fear of.
Del Dolemonte on November 8, 2009 at 5:29 PM
Yup.. a person who has never held national office and has been written off as ______ is now being used to sully other candidates for office.
My, this smells of fear and worse from the Dems. Exactly whom are they trying to influence again?
You know what’s more tedious than Palin as generic Democrat hate figure?
The knee-jerk Palin apologists who say, “See! They’re skuurrd of herrr!” every time Palin is waved around as a vote-getting talisman.
Democrats are scared of Palin the way Republicans are scared of Pelosi. Both apparently have power in their sphere, but the other side sees the woman only as a caricature of herself.

True enough. But at least Pelolsi was actually relevant to the conversation. We raise up people admired by the Obama Administration all the time who are far, far worse than Sarah Palin, but to no affect. The double standard lives on.

Uh, slight difference. Pelosi is basically running the show in Washington right now, as evidenced by the events of last night. Good grief, she’s the Speaker of the House. Do you think conservatives would give two turds about her if she were sitting at home in SF making comments on her Facebook page? The comparison is rather ludicrous.

But are you “afraid” of Pelosi giving speeches and supporting candidates? Are Republicans attacking Pelosi in ads because they’re afraid of her? Do we all call her Granny Botox McImplants because we’re super afraid of her Authentic Liberalism sweeping America?
I think not.

We’re “afraid” of Pelosi because of what she stands for on the issues. I don’t think many on the left have attacked Palin on that basis. They really don’t dare, other than trying to say that “death panels” is a LIE!!!!!!!! The “Granny McBotox” stuff is mainly a reaction to the left’s penchant for ad hominem attack — to demonstrate they don’t have much room to talk.

They aren’t scared of Sarah. They’re scared of those who Sarah inspires; that is average everyday Americans who are becoming fed up with this BS emanating from Washington. They are rushing bad legislation through as quickly as they can because they know their time is short.

But are you “afraid” of Pelosi giving speeches and supporting candidates?
By the way, no one on the right fears Pelosi’s charisma or ability to connect with and mobilize large numbers of voters. Palin has always been feared for that very reason. Pelosi can give as many speeches and support as many candidates as she wants, for all I care. The more she speaks, the more spacey she appears.

Mrs. Pelosi has the ability to “convince” House members to vote against their constituents’ wishes. Through wheeling and dealing or intimidation she can change the course of the country. How does that compare to Gov. Palin?

I’ll put it this way, Lehosh. The left was and still is convinced that Reagan was an “amiable dunce”. An idiotic Neanderthal who was going to destroy us all. But they were terrified of him because of his charisma and his ability to mobilize voters. Thinking someone is an idiot and being afraid of their star power is not mutually exclusive. Lefties ALWAYS think those who don’t swallow their Utopianism and victimology are idiots.

Of course they do. They think every female Republican is a stupid bimbo. The difference is that they think Sarah Palin is a stupid bimbo who can move voters, draw crowds, win votes, alter the dialogue and make things happen. Most of us agree that Al Gore, for example, is a stupid bimbo — but we don’t go using him in our attack ads because truly no one cares about him and because he could draw a crowd of twelve, if you include his husband Tipper. The left KNOWS Palin is a threatening force, a stupid one in their eyes, but a force nonetheless.

Fine, but what else lies underneath? Let’s put it this way. What kind of person attacks a “stupid bimbo” simply because the person is allegedly a “stupid bimbo?” Basically sadists. Normal people usually leave the “bimbos” and idiots alone or avoid them altogether. So either liberals are sadists, or they think there’s a bit more to the “joke” that is Palin. Otherwise, why expend the effort?

If Palin simply supported Leftoid causes, she would be praised to heaven and beyond by the very same slimeballs in the government and the media who noisily vilify her now.
The exact same qualities they now mock and denigrate and despise and lampoon… would be trumpeted as shining examples of integrity, common sense, decency, modesty, hominess, and trustworthiness.
But she opposes them and may stop their agenda …thus she is an evil, wolf-killing, vapid, airhead bimbo slut.
The Leftoids are morally empty. Only power matters.
Those who thwart their power-grabs must be destroyed.
Democrats are scared of Palin the way Republicans are scared of Pelosi. Both apparently have power in their sphere, but the other side sees the woman only as a caricature of herself.
Lehosh on November 8, 2009 at 5:36 PM
Not the same. Pelosi is never going to angle for President.
Palin could win, which scares both national parties, because Palin is no Pelosi. Both parties understand Pelosi and how she plays.
I do not know what power Palin has in her sphere. She still has a measure of trust with conservatives because the party elites hate her.
Palin could change how the game is played. That is terrifying to the establishment.
The general public has little interest in Pelosi while many have half formed opinions of Palin.
I suppose state politicians will try to create a Palin to run against. IMHO a dangerous tactic because the real Palin could appear at any time to work the image her way. They are really giving some control of their fate to her. She is a wild card. c’est la vie.
