Telegraph
“There is no concept of apocalypse in the Mayan culture,” Jesus Gomez, head of the Guatemalan confederation of Mayan priests and spiritual guides, told The Sunday Telegraph…
“If I went to Mayan-speaking communities and asked people what is going to happen in 2012, they wouldn’t have any idea,” said Jose Huchim, a Mayan archaeologist in the Yucatan. “That the world is going to end? They wouldn’t believe you. We have real concerns these days, like rain.”

C’mon. Everybody knows the world as we know it is not gonna end in 2012. It alrady did… on 4 Nov 2008. (Heh, just ask Iowahawk….)

If you want to read a great end-of-the-world story check out “Lucifer’s Hammer” by Pournell and Niven. It’s an awesome book about a comet hitting the earth and the aftermath written by a couple of guys who know what they are talking about. All of these disaster porn movies that are standard fare these days pale in comparison. I always wished that Hollywierd would make a movie based on that book, it would be pretty epic.

It’s sure gonna feel like it for our Progressive friends when their Messiah is kicked to the curb in disgrace as the Worst President Ever.

Loved that book, too. But: Eh. If they did, they’d prolly have change it to global warming…. and maybe make the senator a socialist who gave free health care to the cannibals…. who were just misunderstood, really…. (Seriously, I think they passed their best chance at this following Armageddon (1998) and Armageddon (1998).

Yeah hey would have probably ruined it, heh. Armageddon was so bad it’s almost good. the “Plan 9 from outer space” of disaster flicks.

No offense to the Mayans, but when you’ve got the Antichrist in the White House and the Apocalypse approaching, finding 2013 refills for your Day Runner becomes a secondary concern.

Global Warming is part of the 2012 cover up!

My clock ends at noon today. Will the end of the world happen too, or will it just start over the same way that the Mayan calendar does? Only time will tell.
Proud Rino on November 8, 2009 at 10:33 AM
The whole 2012 thing was fun to speculate about 15 years ago before it became common knowledge, now it is just getting stupid as most things do when they go mainstream. Simply put, the Mayans just ran out of wall space when they got to 2012.
Daemonocracy on November 8, 2009 at 10:38 AM
The apocalypse prophecy comes from the book of The Revelation of Jesus Christ more than the Mayan calendar. We don’t know when the judgements are coming, but as you look around at what’s happening — the world turning against Israel, huge armies being formed, potential antiChrist in the U.S. and Europe or at least antichrist spirit, the growing persecution of Christians, the One World Government movement (which Global Warming is a part as is the reason we haven’t closed the southern border), etc. It’s all coming together. Might go beyond 2012, but if Obama is ever able to stuff the Middle East land-for-peace treaty down Israel’s throat, start the countdown. Oh and of course there’s the “This gospel shall be preached to all nations and then the end will come.”–Jesus Christ quote. Um, that’s happening as we speak.
My advice: be ready.

If the Maya prediction that the world ended on December 21, 2012, we’d be only a month away from the end of Obama’s presidency. So close from salvation!

What a relief! Dec. 21, 2012 is my 29th birthday.

My advice: Shut up
MyImamToldMeToDoIt on November 8, 2009 at 11:21 AM
The Mayans know the world will not end in 2012 about as much as they know the world will end in 2012. Prophesies, whether based on religion or spirituality or any other form of mysticism, are complete and utter baloney believed by intellectually inadequate people who can’t come to terms with free will and like to think that the future is mapped out for them. However, Obama is going to be a one term president so let’s get that straight.
Sharke on November 8, 2009 at 11:41 AM
And the thread breaks into an atheists vs. Christians debate in 3… 2… 1…

The world will end in 2012 when the Mythbusters duplicate one of Tesla’s experiments and accidentally blow up the world. On the plus side, it will be their highest-rated episode.
Bill Ramey on November 8, 2009 at 12:37 PM
So the Mayans were for the end of the world before they were against it?
They must be Democrats…

Haha, i know i’d watch it.
clearbluesky on November 8, 2009 at 1:07 PM
Not to blaspheme or offend, but Jesus himself could tell people that the world is not ending in 2012 and you would still have have people making shelters in their backyards.
