“I think we’re all vulnerable next year,” said Costa, who won with nearly three-quarters of the vote last year in a district that President Barack Obama carried with 60 percent.
Costa is one of a handful of moderate House Democrats from relatively stable districts who aren’t yet on board with the health care bill and whose “no” votes could force colleagues in more marginal districts to cast offsetting — and potentially perilous — “yes” votes.
Rep. Dennis Cardoza (D-Calif.) — from a 59 percent Obama district — is another. Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas), who won with 69 percent of the vote in 2008 and has never gotten less than 59 percent, is also in play, calling himself “undecided.”
Brian Baird (D-Wash.), a politically safe liberal who was once a harsh critic of the legislation, said he has moved from leaning “no” to “undecided.”

So who’s this Baird character? Another Dem willing to go against his own beliefs for the good of the team. I bet he is proud of himself.

Heh. I’m remembering an interview with Obama early this summer saying they were going to get Health Care done before the August recess.
It appears he blew all of his political capital on cramming Porkulus through. Porculus was BAD…but recoverable. I guess we should keep fighting tooth and nail and count our blessings it appears Obama’s star is going…going…and soon to be gone.

Following is a copy of the email I sent to my senator.

Today, WSJ has an article on health care by a woman named Richardson. It summarizes the results of a recent poll of women about health care. The results came back before the most recent missteps with the H1N1 vaccine.
Dems should be soiling their shorts.
The GOP should be smacking the Dems in the mouth with their proposals and asking Americans to compare the two proposals during the holidays.

I’m not sure that’s an improvement… Isn’t leaning “no” better (for us) than “undecided”?

2 days before the Va. election, Dem Tom Perriello 5th CD Va sent out an email touting all the great improvements in Pelosi’s newest stab at healthcare. McDonnell beat Democrat Deeds 61%-39% in this congressional district. Does Perriello get it? hell no. Perriello only won this seat by about 727 or so votes 1 year ago.
but hey, he went to Yale & is therefore smarter than I.

Republicans will pick up at least 3 House seats in Virginia next year. McDonnell even carried Gerry Connolly’s district in Fairfax County. And with 8 new Republicans in the House of Delegates as well as a new Attorney General, the GOP bench is growing while the Dems’ is shrinking.
I am trying hard to talk a friend of mine into running against Jim Moran. I think even he is ripe for the picking next year if we get the right candidate.
rockmom on November 4, 2009 at 2:26 PM
rockmom: thanks for hustling yesterday. I just called Perriello’s DC office: he is running for re-election next yr & hasn’t decided on healthcare bill.
if he votes for it, he can use every excuse in the book, but he will not be re-elected. unless the Republican turns out to be a complete weirdo (and sometimes we shoot ourselves in the foot!)
