“From my perspective, we won last night,” said Pelosi (D-Calif.), referring to the New York special election for the House seat previously held by Republican Rep. John McHugh. “We had one race were engaged in.”

There were two Congressional races last night, no?

Okay, so she has two things in common with Nancy Drew – the first name and the fact she needs to find a clue.

Keep acting that way, Nancy. When a year from now, the returns blast you out of the Speaker position and your minority colleagues retaliate by moving your office into a cloakroom closet, you’ll have plenty of time to invite Baghdad Bob over for a fantasy runoff and a cup of tea.

Now Pelosi is not just lying to us she’s lying to herself. The big question here is does she believe herself?

40X as many people voted in New Jersey and Virginia than in NY-23. – and when to fold ‘em.

I swear the more and more I read their spin – the more and more I’m happy that we lost NY-23.
They are going to totally ignore VA/NJ and be blindsided in 2010.
Now GOP – don’t screw it up!
gophergirl on November 4, 2009 at 1:30 PM
If the Republicans had nominated Hoffman he would have won. The number of people who simply looked for the “R” and voted for Scozzafava (unless they were all close friends trying to cheer her up) was more (last I saw numbers) than the margin of victory for Owens. But the bottom line is that Nancy “Crazy Eyes” Pelosi gets another vote. I’m sure Owens will feel comfortable going the full Maonty for Pelosi in a district which obviously supports centralized planning for every facet of their lives.
Beagle on November 4, 2009 at 1:31 PM
You keep using this word, “won”. I do not think it means what you think it means.

She is actually right. From her perspective, as speaker of the house, this was a win. They gained another democrat to add to their majority rule.

JammieWearingFool on November 4, 2009 at 1:53 PM
It’s only a vote added to their majority rule if Owens votes with the majority. The guaranteed vote dropped out and a blue dog won.

well she does have a point. From the house races the Dems did “win” last night. the rest of the nation that voted sent one big wake up call to the blue dogs but NY23 voted to continue the Pelosi Congress

C’mon, this isn’t surprising in the slightest.
This is the “The most ethical Congress in history” and “If we increase our majority, the house will be more bipartisan” Nancy Pelosi speaking, after all.
And she likes “disruptors” too, except when they disrupt her.
