What candidate can carry ALL three types of conservative…fiscal, defense, AND social? Mitt’s the man!

Romney: The Default Guy
If none of your first choices work out, default to Mitt.
aero on December 20, 2007 at 4:22 PM
There is just something about Mitt I don’t like. It’s his perfectness, I think. He seems very scripted. Is it sad that I would consider getting behind Ron Paul if it wasn’t for his view on the war?
I usually like Ace, but the reasoning here is retarded. Ditch the guy you like in order to appease the people you disagree with. Hmmm. Also, he’s dropping Rudy because he fell to 5th in one (outlying) poll for a guy who is tied with him in said poll, and has been in 5th nationally in many others, who is slipping in Iowa (”It’s in the bag!”) and has JMac creeping up on him in NH.
Sticking with Fred until the end. A lot happened today. What will happen tomorrow?

I’m sick of hearing folks whine about not being able to get behind a candidate they believe in because they aren’t “electable” for some arcane reason or another. Quit betraying your values due to the shifting winds of the popularity contest du jour commonly referred to as a poll. They are worthless. Stand behind the candidate who best represents your values. We make candidates electable.

I find it really helps if you spend some time looking at Rudy’s tanking poll numbers. It did wonders to restore my faith in conservatives.

By the time the primaries roll around here (Texas), any choice between Mitt and Fred will pretty much have been made. Rooting for Fred, but expecting Mitt, and I can live with it if that’s the way it ends up.

If its Mitt, buy your “assault rifles” and other “weapons of destruction” before he gets into office.

Not mine. Didn’t you notice that Huckabee and McCain, who are not exactly true to conservative principles and the conservative base, are on the rise as Rudy falls? My faith in conservatives continues to sink abysmally with every day that passes. What are they thinking?! ARE they thinking? It would appear they are not.

Exactly! That’s exactly the point I’ve been trying to make. We’re about to settle for a presumptive but mediocre nominee—again—mainly in order to avoid other potential worse nominees, NOT because we like him best. That’s how we got Bush, the “compassionate conservative.” Aaaargh! This is so frustrating!

PSHAW! That kind of attitude is one step away from a Paulnut! Don’t you see? We have to WIN! WIN AT ALL COSTS! KEEP HILLARY OUT EVEN IF HUCK IS NEARLY IDENTICAL!
Oh…sorry, I was channeling the new Republicans with 50% more socialism in every vote.

Romney’s wishy-washy “Meet the Press” interview the other day, specifically the portions about illegal immigration and the 2nd amendment, was a strong reminder why he isn’t my first choice. I’m going with Fred right up until just before the end, but at that point, if Mitt seems to be in a better position to keep Huck or Rudy or McCain from grabbing the nomination, I’ll vote for Mitt instead of Fred.
Vote Fred! and/or Mitt.

It’s his foreign policy in general and his goldbug tendencies that really turn me off.
Ya’ll DO realize that Mitt will govern by negotiation, right. He will move ever farther toward the left in order to appease the dems and the media. The man has no deep abiding CONVICTIONS! Jeez- he’s GWB all over again only without the substance.

Someone has to catch fire if he’s to stop Huckabee. And we have to stop him, because we can’t have a Republican Jimmy Carter as our nominee because we hate Christmas.

He’s not on board yet. He’s going to wait to see if Thompson can pull a miracle out of his silly hat first. He seems pretty sure he’ll end up with Romney, granted, but it’s far from a ringing endorsement, I’m sure you’d agree. He intends to default to Romney after the guy in fifth place drops out.
