Rolling Stone
According to sources at the VMAs, Swift was seen hysterically crying backstage after Kanye’s outburst, making it convenient that her performance of “You Belong to Me,” which immediately followed the acceptance speech, was prerecorded. Wale, who is serving as MC for the house band, told the crowd, “You can’t fault a man for speaking his mind,” which was promptly met by boos from the Radio City Music Hall crowd. According to our sources inside Radio City, Kanye was promptly tossed from the VMAs after interrupting Swift’s speech.

The MTV VMAs are a very liberal outfit and were a platform for Bush-bashing and Obama butt-kissing last year, so of course all-American country artists are going to get picked on. The country artists don’t belong at a low-class deal like this anyway. They should just boycott next year.
Glad that Kanye “Bush hates whiteys” West was tossed, though.

How terribly embarrassing it must be for Kayne to have his racism revealed at the precise moment when millions of viewers were tuned in to a live performance. He will need years of therapy to overcome enough shame so that maybe one day he might muster the courage to go out in public without a mask.

He begged the audience to vote for Obama. And did MTV think that that was too liberal? Why, no, they asked him to host again this year.
So, yeah, they’re a liberal, low-class clap-trap that country artists are too good for (and I’m not even all that much a fan). But, c’mon, we’re talking about MTV for God’s sake. Crap.

Aslans Girl on September 13, 2009 at 11:40 PM

I for one thought it was hilarious. The VMA’s itself is such a gaudy, shameless spectacle that the notion of “making a mockery of it” is redundant. You can’t denigrate the integrity of an event which has no integrity to begin with. If he interrupted the presentation of the Fields Medal it’d be objectionable, but it’s the VMA’s. Who cares?

I’m sure Kanye, like Wilson thought he was “doing what’s right”. The two really are a perfect match. It’s amusing how this is a symbol of the decline of our social mores, and Wilson’s despicable lack of respect for the office of the Presidency is not.
You’re a hypocritical piece of trash.

We saw it with the Black Panthers at the voting booths, and the initial decision of the Justice Dept to drop the investigation.
We saw it with ACORN during the election, and finally their tactics are being exposed.

The tea partiers or town hallers or whatever you want to call them are an anonymous mass of people, calling them racist en-masse doesn’t even make sense.
West has propped up his career with racist statements, it’s not like he doesn’t have a history that might lead people to believe he’s being racist in this case.

You lost me, Geo. Joe Wilson did the right thing and he was justified in letting everyone know that The Precedent was lying. If you are referring to my earlier comment, it is The Precedent, and the fact that he called a Congressional address, that I have problems with. He abused the office of the Presidency just by calling that Congressional address to try and ram through his idiotic, anti-American health care ideas. That is not the purpose of calling Congress for such an address. Wilson did the least of what should have been done to react to such an abuse and then the further lying by The Precedent and Traitor-in-Chief.
Kanye is just run-of-the-mill slime who doesn’t really deserve the benefits of living in a civilized society.

Kanye West is an ignorant moron. Of course this was motivated by race. Of course he thought that a black, female R&B artist should have won over a southern white young woman, and he had to ruin her speech, her moment, her time in the spotlight to make it known. This seems familiar though, oh yeah! He also stormed out after Gretchen Wilson – another white southern woman, won at the AMAs.
“I’m going to let you finish” No. He knows that winners have a limited amount of time to talk – and after all the ruckus about his statement, there would be no time for her to finish. He didn’t just ruin the moment for her, he took it for himself. What a piece of trash.

McCain’s run wasn’t minority butt-kissing. It wasn’t even conservative butt-kissing. It was an abject failure in general. It’s a lot easier to say minorities don’t want conservative principles than actually conducting outreach to them. How the hell did I find out about Milton Friedman, Thomas Sowell, William Buckley? It was due to my own study and certainly not because conservatives were good at marketing.
You can market without compromising. But past shitty marketing jobs aren’t a predictor of future success especially since there hasn’t been real effort in the first place. Regardless of whether you like it or not, it’s necessary because of where the country is heading if you want capitalism and constitutional principles to continue to guide this country. We have to be bigger than emotions even anger and find a way to crack the code and expose everyone regardless of background to conservatism. It’s universally applicable and if done right, is universally marketable.

Channel surfed to the show. This loud-mouthed, all-teeth, rats-nest haired guy is strutting about the stage spouting off that he was proud to be from England where, unlike the USA, they “don’t let people die in the streets” because of their “free” health-care. The audience roared. I changed the channel. Found a reality program about tree-hugging liberals contributing to the food chain by being mauled and eaten by bears. Much more entertaining.

I think a lot of artists are jealous and resentful of Taylor Swift. She is the biggest selling recording artist over the last two years and the first real country-pop crossover star. Her music speaks to people, especially teens, in a way that nobody else’s does. Maybe Kanye should think about THAT.
Beyonce’s video appeals to guys who like to watch her shake her moneymaker, but seriously, that song is crap compared to what Taylor Swift writes and sings. I’ll remember that video mostly for the fantastic parody of it by Justin Timberlake on SNL.

Why didn’t the VMAs have Swift back up (instead of Beyonce)?

Whew! I am just glad that Kanye didn’t shout “You Lie”

South Park is going to have a field day with this one.
I sort of flip channels through MTV sometimes. I thought the Beyonce video looked hot as Hell, and the Taylor Swift video was purile pap.
But now I watched them all the way through for the production values. The Beyonce video had a creative twist – for about two seconds; but after that it was extremely repetative. The Swift video was very elegant; while it showed a drastically overdone (i.e., timeless) story, it was very very well produced.
In short, somebody who’s not paying attention (or is drunk) might thing the Beyonce video was “the most awesomest thing ever.” But anybody who knows what he’s talking about would realize the Taylor Swift video was far superior.

What?? This is so out of character for Kanye West. I don’t understand it. He is usually a pillar of character and immeasurable class. The only thing I can think of is that Georg W. Bush must have done something terrible to throw him into the grip of a deep alcohol binge.

We need to stop focusing on this and return to worrying about what Michelle Obama is wearing today.

Explain to me how Taylor Swift won for best female video before Beyonce won for best video.
