I have no idea why people keep making the claim and comparison. Reps have stood firm on defeating Obamacare, so firm – it’s the Dems who don’t have the votes. Regardless of Pelosi’s posturing and Prime Time stink fest from Bambi – fiscally conservative, Blue Dog, moderate Dems within the House and Senate are against this bill as it is – hence no vote before the recess.
Do you really think Dems and or the American people are going to switch gears and support Obamacare, just because “birthers” are bringing the issue up?

This does not tell us anything that we did not already know. We already knew Hawaii had his BC in its vault and that it says he was born in Hawaii. The assertion that that makes him natural born is just a legal conclusion. That determination is for the judiciary to make in interpreting the Constitution. BTW let’s see the vault copy and see if the original was a late BC awarded by affidavit.
I tell you the presumption of these government officials that they can just give us information like this on a “need to know” basis and we just need to trust them. It is astounding arrogance of the political class.

Why is now a news story? Because it’s being painted as “The GOP is a bunch of conspiracy loonies!”
In the meantime, we’ve got the CBO battling the WHBO over deficits, Biden the “Foreign Policy Expert” is insulting Russia (along with the POTUS), Hillary seems to think wishing really hard will stop Iran’s nukes, and the Congress isn’t even read the tripe they want to pass into law.
But this story is dominating the news cycle. Distractions, folks!

Stop the presses! The matter is closed because a politician has seen the BC so it is without doubt real.
Jimmy Carter noted politician has seen UFOs. Stop the presses! The matter is closed because a politician has seen the UFOs so they are without doubt real.

I’ve never been able to figure this man out because our media sucks. I’m figuring it out by his actions….but, it’d be nice to see some documentation of his past (birth, college, professional life)

I won’t believe it until Dr. Fukino admits to and actually showing us the payments for Soros.
This respected man once again stated the obvious….Obama was born in Hawaii.
Many of the birthers were yelling “no official has seen, or no official has claimed”.

Obama was born in Hawaii.

The two heads of the Heath Services Dept. has stated, Obama was born in Hawaii.

powerpro on July 28, 2009 at 9:51 AM
It’s amazing. The crux of this argument is whether or not Obama is a Natural Born Citizen. Everything else, the Birth Certificate, “he was born in Kenya”, etc., are just red herrings. By successfully framing the debate over where he was born and ridiculing those who want him to produce the birth certificate, they hope to put this issue to bed by simply revealing that, VOILA!, he really was born in Hawaii. And chances are they will.
However, SCOTUS still hasn’t definitively ruled on the meaning of Natural Born Citizen as it pertains to the qualifications to be president in Article II, Section 2, Clause 5 of the Constitution. As it stands now, the SCOTUS doesn’t know, the American people don’t know, I don’t know but Dr. Fukino’s.

Damn, GOP – why can’t you all just goose-step like the Dems? Don’t you know image is so important. I guess you can only be diverse when it comes to race and sexual preference, but everyone must think the same!
Every tiny minority MUST obviously represent the ENTIRE party as a whole, no free-thinking allowed! Baaaaaaaa.
So, what is really going on here?
Obama is an arrogant POS who refuses to answer to the peasants? He evens spends money and goes out of his way to give the peons the finger?
or, he’s hiding… something (doesn’t have to be country of birth, but something else, perhaps).
reaganaut on July 28, 2009 at 9:52 AM

Geez, isn’t there anyone working in that Hawaii dept. of records who can leak this damn thing and get it over with? Good grief, if Obama were a Republican, the birth certificate and ALL of his other missing records would have been leaked a long time ago. If it’s got something bad in it, I figure someone can leak it and then turn around and claim whistle blower status. Again, if this were a Republican president that leaker would be running the place in 6 months.

Just about every collage drives it into the heads of our young that republicans are beyond evil. Basically anyone not towing the liberal line is just plain bad and you are worried that the BC thing will make republicans look nuts? To who?
Wow I guess the liberals don’t call conservatives “Wingnuts” without reason.

Distraction… I kid about the HI doctor… and I wouldn’t be surprised if we discovered 50 years from now that she was covering for BHO… but it doesn’t matter. The Left will only use this to discredit criticisms of Obamacare and Cap & Destroy.
The 53% who wanted this incompetent criminal don’t care about the birth issue. They voted for him anyway… and they remain unconvinced (and don’t care)… BUT a significant number have moved away from him on the crucial issues of our day.
A greatly wounded BHO is more valuable to the Right than a sympathetic one.

My interest in this story is pretty low; I’m much more concerned by the fact that my money and personal freedoms are going down the crapper every single day under this guy. So I’m not a Birther, BUT I do find it peculiar that he refuses to share any kind of information about himself and that this is just accepted as a matter of course. If there’s nothing to hide, then why not just release the information and put it to rest once and for all? I’m beginning to think there’s some truth to the fact that THEY are the ones stirring up this conspiracy theory again, in order to distract and make the opposition appear nuts.
Even if he WAS born in Kenya, I’m still of the opinion that he’s a U.S. citizen by virtue of the fact that his mother was, so I don’t even believe that’s an issue. Nevertheless, this determination would be the purview of the Supreme Court, NOT some hack bureaucrat in Hawaii, so I can understand why this answer is not an acceptable one for Birthers. Furthermore, I find it outrageous that ordinary citizens apparently have no standing to challenge this fact in court. If the PEOPLE don’t have the right to question whether their president is eligible to hold office, who the hell is? These are the more alarming questions about this story to me.

Why do people continue to insist those whom are pursuing this won’t accept anything to sate their rabid fascination with Obama’s place of birth? From the beginning these folks have only requested Obama’s actual birth certificate released. We’re not talking about Truthers looking to uncover a complex and varied web of deceit involving numerous world leaders and American politicians, just asking for the release of a single document.
Seams like a simple request, with a simple solution. And now that this guy has said he’s seen the document, it will only propel the requests further until the document is released. Oh, I’m sure there will be many that will claim its fake, if its ever released, but for the majority that will be enough.
Then it will be onto Obama’s college records LOL.

Ris4victory on July 28, 2009 at 11:03 AM

Akzed on July 28, 2009 at 11:03 AM
OK, NOW the office reiterates that the director has “personally seen” the “original vital records”, meaning the Dept. does have it on file and it was not destroyed. Now the director says it was shown to confirm his birth, which is good for Obama, but no one is releasing it, as it is a “private document” that needs Obama permission for release. And Obama’s peoples say “nothing will ever convince the loonies, so I won’t release it.”
So if the original “long form” exists (though the director didn’t use the term “long form”, so she may have meant “short form” after all, and Obama just got a copy of the short) then if it were released, that would sway me.
Of course, it won’t be released, cause “nothing will ever please deniers”. There will always be a loony that denies truth, but that is no reason not to be truthful and forthcoming, especially when you have a constitutional requirement to do so.
Illustrate absurdity with absurdity- “I have a driver’s license officer, it’s real, I have to show you now that you pulled me over, but you won’t believe me anyway, so I’m not showing it to you.” Think the cop would say “no problem, move along citizen”?
It’s also cute that the House will propose a resolution saying Obama is a citizen. Course none of them have seen the long form either, but he11, they don’t read their own legislation. And why even have a resolution to do what a birth cert. or a govt. office charged with filing and DOCKETING this stuff should already have done?
It smells of a extra layer of official b.s. to coat the basic facts.
Illustrate absurdity with absurdity 2: “I have the world’s biggest d!ck, but you’d never believe me anyway, so I won’t drop my drawers to show you. So, by default, I must have the world’s biggest willy. And I’ll get a resolution of 200 people to say I do, even though they never saw it,just for good measure.

I just wonder what LEGAL STANDARD she used to make the statement that he is a “natural born citizen”… as that is the second part of the question (the dual citizen question, which I always thought was the better question).
She made a legal distinction from CITIZEN when she used that exact phrase.
Its also interesting that she made this statement at all, as she is not supposed to release information without permission, was she therfore given permission? And on the same day that the House voted?

The Chicago Tribune who saw the original are lying
Forget the dKos ( I don’t know why you guys are infatuated by them, I have never seen their site regarding this), but all the other sites that have his certificate posted are lying.
In 1961 the Honolulu Advertiser, which received its information directly from the Health Services dept (the only place it got that info), posted Obama’s birth as a conspiracy to be unfolded 40+ years later.
The state of Hawaii is run by a Republican Governor, a personal friend and supporter of Palin.
Yet, all these people have conspired to keep you from knowing where Obama was actually born.

But they’re talking about wanting the actual vital records document, not the certificate right? Why can’t he just release the vital records and be done with this?
This whole debacle just underscores a larger issue with Obama, that we don’t know a lot about him which leads people to use him as a blank slate, projecting whatever ideals and beliefs they want to believe onto him and his administration.
If all we’re talking about is the release of a document, that this official says exists, then do it now, or Friday, and be done with it.

Conclusion: prob’ly not.

It doesn’t matter who is on your side if you are right.

So, in your opinion, a Dual Citizen can be President? Under the Natural Born Clause?
And anyone who actualy read a few things by John Jay… and the Constitution itself… and the Supreme Court writitngs on that question… are Moron?
Yes, such a small % of people can cause amazing damage. Sorry, not cause – ARE causing. Birthers look like pi$$y morons and make the party look stupid and immature.
There are three classes of intellects: one which comprehends by itself; another which appreciates what others comprehend; and a third which neither comprehends by itself nor by the showing of others; the first is the most excellent, the second is good, and the third is useless.

YOU’RE HAVING SO MUCH FUN!
I heard your country was trying to overhaul its healthcare system. That sounds like important stuff. Someone should pay attention to that.
Dave Rywall on July 28, 2009 at 12:02 PM
So why are you here, instead of there?
platypus on July 28, 2009 at 12:04 PM
One million dollars and counting.
A small price to pay to keep a secret, right?
But birthers are retarded, right?
Down the rabbit hole we go, Alice. We are NOT in Kansas any more, Dorothy.

Hmmmm now exactly what is Obama spending all these legal fees on?
Dave Rywall on July 28, 2009 at 12:04 PM
Fair enough. Then it shouldn’t matter that Philip Berg is a “truther”.

The Hawai’ian official said she’s seen the vital records, not the COLB, which these people want to see. I’m only suggesting that if the records exists release them and be done with the whole issue.

Private citizen spending is not comparative to political coverups.
platypus on July 28, 2009 at 12:14 PM
Maybe this comes down to he name of the father on the original BC.
Maybe that was changed from “Father Unknown” to Obama Sr.
If so, that makes the 2 bios of Pres BO fake, and his whole back story.
Maybe that’s what he hinted at on pg. 26 of his book.
Maybe that IS worth covering up.

Yes, really.
This guy volunteered for a deployment to Afghanistan. Upon gettin his orders for deployment, he brought up the lawsuit with the BC stuff.
Once the guy’s orders were cancelled or rescinded or whatever it caused another military guy to get pulled to take his spot, on short notice at that. this, in the military is what we call “buddy f*&king”. If there wasn’t a replacement sent in for him, then the unit he volunteered to was sent to the AO SHORT a body.
I don’t give a crap about the guys personal life. He used this as an opportunity to try to make a political point and screwed someone else in the process.
On this guy, the birther aspect is irrelevant.

You miss the point.
A person who is the target of dozens (hundreds?) of lawsuit has to spend money to fight those lawsuits.
You genius birthers are wetting your pants shrieking that that’s an admission of guilt or evidence that something is being covered up.
So ridiculous.
Dave Rywall on July 28, 2009 at 1:04 PM
Not shrieking. Stating realities.
Choice A – stand firm and spend a million dollars.
Choice B – Prove that they’re full of crap for less than $20 and move on.
Only one answer is rational UNLESS keeping something secret is essential.
I wouldn’t spend any more money proving a point than absolutely necessary to spend.
Does that make me crazy?
platypus on July 28, 2009 at 1:10 PM
I think there’s a larger frustration here. I think people are just plain tired of not getting straight answers from Washington, period.
Especially now from what was sold to us as the most transparent administration evah.

What would you call a movement who’s case has SO MUCH merit that the only attorney taking it is a dentist/real estate agent who went to an unaccredited internet law school…

Ahh, so when there are dozens of lawsuits filed against you, you just hold a press conference and say X, and poof the lawsuits all disappear.
SO AMAZING

Romeo,
I know you are a Chief but surely you can understand that what Mr. Cook did was conduct unbecoming. PLaying games with the deployment system is no better than what that coward Ehren Watada did.
Squid Shark on July 28, 2009 at 1:15 PM
Well, that is certainly a big part of it. The President does need to lie about some things (usually national security) but there is no reason for this to have gone on this long.
What might have been just prideful stubbornness increasingly looks like trapped desperation. What’s up with that?
platypus on July 28, 2009 at 1:17 PM
That’s about how this would go. You don’t seriously believe that a federal judge is going to rule that he’s not a citizen if a long form BC photocopy is submitted as evidence in one of these cases.
You’re way out there but you’re not over the horizon. Even you know that cutting to the chase cuts the legs out from all the lawsuits.
So of what is the Chicago thug afraid?
platypus on July 28, 2009 at 1:24 PM
When you find a circuit willing to hear this case let a brotha know.
Squid Shark on July 28, 2009 at 1:27 PM
I think that deploy/non-deploy Army officer has found a perch.
BTW, any serious law professor will candidly tell you that the best constitutional law briefs (and the most meaningful SCOTUS con law decisions) come from convicts in prison with no attorneys helping.
