In the Hitchens video, everything is carried out pretty much according to universal waterboarding protocol as we’ve come to understand it. His limbs and torso are tightly bound by restraints. The platform on which he lays appears to be tilted slightly downward so that his head is positioned below his heart. His head is also completely covered and the water used looks as though it’s poured directly into his breathing passages.
In contrast, Mancow isn’t bound by restraints at all, he doesn’t appear to have his body positioned at a decline, only a portion of his face from the nose up is covered, and the water is being poured on him inappropriately.

Even without the emails, you can look at the videos and see that he is faking it.
So if I get water on my face in the shower, am I being waterboarded?

He sat up and immediately said he was OK. Can we stop talking about this now?

Agreed. It was awful. The guy just pretty much threw the water on his face.

But but but, its still torture. He could have got some water in his eye too. And baptism is like water boarding for babies. Luckily abortion prevents many from experiencing the torture of holy water.

When waterboarding comes up on these threads I always think of the brutality that your poor children went through.

All I mean is that lying isn’t the sin it once was in the new America. So whether Madcow was waterboarded or not, he wins.
JiangxiDad on May 29, 2009 at 9:31 AM
Thank God you survived.
I too was tortured: I was once forced to stand in one spot for hours on end while a big, mean dude yelled in my face occasionally. *weeps*
Someone needs to find my old drill instructor and charge him with crimes against humanity or something.
Bishop on May 29, 2009 at 9:32 AM
Needless to say, Mancow is a monumental douchebag. That they are even discussing this clown in serious tones speaks volumes about the fraud that is our media.
He went on Olberdouche’s show – bzzzzt – the end.
Jaibones on May 29, 2009 at 9:37 AM
Labor and delivery is torture…it hurts like hell, you have no guarantee that you will come out of it alive, and your body and mind are forever changed…

ladyingray on May 29, 2009 at 9:38 AM
Screw Mancow for giving Drew Peterson airtime while he sits in jail waiting for trial for the murder of his 3rd wife, while his 4th wife is still missing.
Poor Drew want conjugal visits and Mancow gives this creep airtime.
Knucklehead on May 29, 2009 at 9:39 AM
I laughed out loud at that.
So, if I hold my breath when I swim under water, am I being waterboarded?
therightscoop on May 29, 2009 at 9:48 AM
It’s funny. Mancow’s legs are eleveated, but his torso is level. My guess is that unless your head is lower than your heart, you wouldn’t get the same effect.
Regardless, how does it compare to beheading?

The technique is WAAYYYY different than when Hitchens was waterboarded. From water pouring to his face being half covered….it’s all different.
He got water up his nose, and called that waterboarding.
Maybe they should have used soda.

This kind of disappoints me, not because I care one way or another about torture. But I remember living in Chicago around the time of the Mancow-Howard Stern “spat” and really enjoying Mancow. He was funny, sarcastic, always interesting. And he really gave it to that blowhard Stern. That doesn’t mean I don’t think he wasn’t capable of lying, just that it disappoints me he would do it on an issue of such magnitude. Like if he lied and said he ate 80 fried worms, whatever. But don’t lie to get on BSNBC.

I get water out my nose here sometimes from witty posters causing me to unexpectedly choke/cough on my own saliva. Does that count?

Should I charge said man with torture?

I love the comments at Gawker: Even if he faked it, even if he’s a fraud, even if lied to his audience….his opinion of waterboarding still matters.

As a homeowner, if I set up a tub of water so that guests can bob for apples at a Halloween party, could I lose my home?
My biggest question now is, now that the left has sucessfully redefined yet another term to fit their agenda, and lowered the bar on one more thing, what will be next?
In 10 years, we won’t even be able to hold terrorists or EPWs. If they voluntarily confine themselves and offer information, that’s fine.

After watching some of these waterboarding’s, I decided to do this with a friend.
So we got together the other night, but we made some changes.
First were decided to sit more upright…and instead of just plain water we added some alcohol…scotch if I remember correctly.
We then proceeded to swallow large amounts. After about an hour we definitely felt dizzy and dis-oriented, but we continued…finally, I couldn’t take anymore, but my buddy continued.
And like Mancow, he now swears he will never do that again..it was torture later that night, and the next day..
I put Mancow stunt pretty much in this same category…

Where are the videos of the rape-torture rooms? You know the rooms where they rape the children and mother in front of the father just for fun. Throw in a few beheadings while your at it or my personal favorite the shredder. If you were lucky you went in head first.
A little water boarding seems like child’s play compared to the above.
lexa on May 29, 2009 at 10:33 AM
My “favorite” room is the one where they let loose the dogs on the kids, while the parents watched them be torn apart by the dogs…one by one until they told them what they wanted to hear.
Then those “snitched” on, were brought in and the cycle repeated…oh those crazy Hussein kids, always getting into mischief…
right2bright on May 29, 2009 at 10:40 AM
So….
I just watched the Hitchens version and…um…
why is it that I still see no problem with our military doing that to combatants and terrorists to get information?
I mean, I’m so for it I HOPE they still train to do this if it means our nation is safe. I hope they are waterboarding the HECK out of those who want a mushroom cloud over America.
Bad mommy.
Mommypundit on May 29, 2009 at 10:45 AM
I will also say, “War is hell. Get over it.”
I mean, what is with the liberal/faux republican wimpiness? They scream about moral standards while aborting viable humans. They can talk about ethics when they stop mutilating children.
As it is, waterboarding people who put live explosives on their own kids to kill people doing their daily routines is kind of weak in the first place. These individuals are animals.
Mommypundit on May 29, 2009 at 10:49 AM

What amazes me is the assumption that it’s so easy to find someone trained in the interrogation technique.
“Hey, anyone know some military guy who can waterboard for us? Or maybe a policeman or fireman or EMT?”
Because it’s such a common thing that anyone with a uniform can fill in.
Anyone know a postman who can waterboard for us? Sheesh.
obladioblada on May 29, 2009 at 11:37 AM
Yeah, it’s such an awful thing that journalists and shock jocks do it for ratings.
obladioblada on May 29, 2009 at 11:42 AM
No, you’re praising him for furthering your goals to have the Bush administration prosecuted. You have no problem with people being waterboarded, especially your political enemies.
You are a leftist. Your game is control, and truth is always the first casualty in your war.
spmat on May 29, 2009 at 11:54 AM
I know some “military guys”. I know some policemen, firemen and even two EMT’s. I’m pretty sure none of them know how to properly waterboard someone. These people really show their cluelessness when they really think firemen and EMT’s could possibly know how to waterboard someone. Why didn’t they ask about teachers and nuns while they were at it?

Hitchen’s comment is interesting, he states if you had information it would be retrieved, but if you had none then you could go crazy.
We only waterboarded people who were confirmed to have important information, that was important to protect the lives of the American people…he was confirming that what we did was useful and effective.
Mancow was just a pussy…

If I make my wife sleep in the wet spot, am I guilty of waterboarding too?
This whole thing is getting so confusing…
TheCulturalist on May 29, 2009 at 1:12 PM
Bing. My wife bolted up in bed less than one hour after I fell asleep (after an already 18 hour day), and decided she was having a baby. She was in labor for the next 20 hours, during which time I was standing and she was sometimes in delerious pain, and during which time we were sometimes tortured by the news that our first child’s heart rate was erratic and sometimes dangerously low.
Then without notice, we were suddenly tortured by the news from the doctors and nurses that they needed to do an emergency caesarian delivery, and I was further tortured to see my wife sedated and unconscious and maybe dead (stay with me on this).
Ultimately, I was left sitting alone in the dark, empty hallway of a silent hospital, deprived of sleep for all but 40 minutes in 48 hours. I’m sure they also put water in my nose, or maybe I did that myself, but I can’t remember because my mental well being was permanently altered by this gruesome experience.
Somebody call the UN Human Rights Council; I have the name of the Dr. and the hospital…

They kept handing me the tequila bottle. It was torture, I tell ya.
Heh.
Jaibones on May 29, 2009 at 1:22 PM
Whether it was faked or just a botched effort by the clueless is irrelevant to whether waterboarding is “torture.” Mancow and Hitchens saying it is torture doesn’t trump other people who have been though it who say it isn’t.

And, the other things that’s the most vital thing for our economy… nationalized healthcare.
Oh, and the thing that’s not vital for our economy… dealing with North Korea and Iran.
