Village Voice
Now, having said that, when Rush Limbaugh visited the set, and when Lynne Cheney visited the set, I refused to have my picture taken with them or meet them or anything. I didn’t want to make a scene out of it and not even go meet them in front of people. When somebody came to me privately and said ‘do you want to meet them’, I said absolutely not. But I would never have made a big show of it and embarrassed people who worked there. Not that they were interested in meeting me. And, to tell you the truth, I doubt that Lynne Cheney even knew who I was…

I’m sure Rush’s heart was broken, dearie.

The narcissism of thinking any politico would is stunning….she was a b-lister who is now a d-lister….
+1 his trail of tears recharged the local aquifer I am certain.
sven10077 on April 17, 2009 at 8:09 PM
And if someone mentioned it to Mrs. Cheney or Rush, the response would be “Janeane who?”
Wethal on April 17, 2009 at 8:10 PM
Good for you sweetie, I’m sure you ruined their days.

TheUnrepentantGeek on April 17, 2009 at 8:11 PM
Jeez, how about a little content warning on the site? My 14-year-old daughter walked by just as I clicked on the headline link. Bleh.

why wasnt she aborted?????????
ousoonerfan15 on April 17, 2009 at 8:13 PM
Because mentioning it in a media interview, totally unprompted, isn’t making a big show of it.
Ah, projection: It’s a lovely thing.
calbear on April 17, 2009 at 8:14 PM
I listen to Rush every day and don’t recall him once saying how he can’t sleep this gal ’snubbed’ him. Guess he will recover.

From the article, from a question posed to Garafalo:
Drama much? She did?
Who would give enough of a damn about Janeane Giraffealo to make death threats? “Unimaginable right-wing abuse”? What does that even mean? Unimaginable? It can’t be imagined? She’s some kind of martyr?
Seriously, WTF?
Kensington on April 17, 2009 at 8:15 PM
The homely wench is still angry after Rush accidentally tipped her for making the coffee.
viking01 on April 17, 2009 at 8:16 PM
Me, me, me, me, me.
Hey, let’s talk about me.
SteveMG on April 17, 2009 at 8:16 PM
Gee.
A show-biz lefty is proud of being rude.
Isn’t there anything more Headline-worthy, like a new bacon picture?
malclave on April 17, 2009 at 8:16 PM
Is she on that show?
Greg Toombs on April 17, 2009 at 8:16 PM
Wow! The comments on the Village Voice page, as ultra-liberal as a New York left-wing rag/site could be, are unbelievable. They hate her. Surely HotAir readers couldn’t have written all those in this short period of time.
Marcus on April 17, 2009 at 8:17 PM
And this is courage in the eyes of the libs…
d1carter on April 17, 2009 at 8:18 PM
She’s sure full of herself, isn’t she?
Bob's Kid on April 17, 2009 at 8:20 PM
I’ve received death threats and even had one liberal asshat try to get me fired, and my blog attracts about 5 people a day.
So, to receive a left-wing or right-wing death threat, all you have to do is post your opinion on the internet with a comments-section or email link.

More like a voice from the woods.
radiofreevillage on April 17, 2009 at 8:22 PM
Here she takes about 24 creator Joel Surnow, a conservative:
Get that? Surnow treated her well, ergo he’s probably not really a conservative. The lengths leftys like her will go to in order to maintain their strawmen are pathetic.
Kensington on April 17, 2009 at 8:23 PM
Mm hmm.
MadisonConservative on April 17, 2009 at 8:24 PM
I enjoy how Garofatroll is so quick to point out that she is completely unqualified to even run for dog catcher, yet when she is a guest on Real Time or when she was hosting her own godawful shrewfest on Air America, she put forward her opinions as if she were the worlds formost expert on geopolitics.
Kataklysmic on April 17, 2009 at 8:25 PM
I concur.
A “NSFW” notice should have been added.
Religious_Zealot on April 17, 2009 at 8:29 PM
I seriously doubt Rush even noticed or cared.
wildcat84 on April 17, 2009 at 8:29 PM
Yeah, fine, but the Village Voice article makes it sound like something remarkable happened to her in 2003, and it presumes that anyone reading knows what they’re talking about. Also, it was “unimaginable,” apparently, and my suspicion is that they’re probably just being drama queens.
Kensington on April 17, 2009 at 8:33 PM
Has she ever had sex with a man? No? I think that is her problem.
What? Thanks, I’ll pass on that offer.
Tim Burton on April 17, 2009 at 8:37 PM
The point being: nobody hates Janeane Garafalo more than me, and I don’t even give a damn about her, so what was the nature of this “unimaginable” right-wing abuse she suffered in 2003? Some Internet trolling, maybe? Good heavens. Get me to my fainting couch before I’m overcome by the vapors.

Bluestate_Blues on April 17, 2009 at 8:47 PM
Couldn’t 24 just kill her off. I won’t watch her ever on the show. Let’s make her the villain.
Bambi on April 17, 2009 at 8:55 PM
please, for the love, don’t ever link to Village Voice again. if i want to see naked fat people, i can find it without the help of Hot Air.
donny on April 17, 2009 at 9:00 PM
Nobody should avoid 24 because of her. She’s a minor supporting player with very little impact on the main storyline. Most episodes she’s just in the background.
Kensington on April 17, 2009 at 9:02 PM
So, dropping Rush’s name for attention is alright … but polite intercourse is still a problem for Cro-Magnon bull dykes?
Were I Rush I wouldn’t talk to the fugly beast without first saturating my liver with an adult beverage, or three.
kregg on April 17, 2009 at 9:03 PM
I always liked Lynne Cheney, but I never really envied her until now.
venividivici on April 17, 2009 at 9:03 PM
Damn! I bet Rush is just broken up about all that. right along with his 15 milliom plus listeners and subscribers.

It reminds me of an old Arabic fable: A mosquito spent the night on a branch of an oak tree. When the morning came the mosquito said to the tree: “Hold on tight, I’m leaving you”
Michelle Dubois on April 17, 2009 at 9:05 PM
“I am highly unqualified”, she got that right…

Reckon some of the other extras snubbed Rush too.
BHO Jonestown on April 17, 2009 at 9:17 PM
I’m sure both Lynn Cheney and Rush said a special thank you to the producers as they were leaving for arranging it so they didn’t have to meet her.
Rocks on April 17, 2009 at 9:20 PM
It’s says Garofalo is touring. I wonder if she has reached the point where she can do her set without note cards.
What kinda of comedian can’t remember their own material?
Rocks on April 17, 2009 at 9:22 PM
Why wouldn’t you want to meet them. If they are your enemy you should face them. If you think they’ll step on you like a bug then I support your convictions.
ericdijon on April 17, 2009 at 9:28 PM
She is such a handsome man, prettiest I’ve ever seen!
GlocknRoll on April 17, 2009 at 9:29 PM
Why would she imagine Rush would want to meet such an odious little troll?
Warner Todd Huston on April 17, 2009 at 9:31 PM
If she’s a regular on 24, they will have to kill off her character to get Hot Air folks to ever watch again.
Christian Conservative on April 17, 2009 at 9:35 PM
She is a petite woman and probably afraid Rush would try to eat her like a cannoli.
benny shakar on April 17, 2009 at 9:43 PM
“And, to tell you the truth, I doubt that Lynne Cheney even knew who I was…” I am not sure who she is either, so I can’t fault Mrs Cheney there.
darcee on April 17, 2009 at 9:53 PM
Funny how liberals, especially their women, make it all about them. Always about them.
SouthernGent on April 17, 2009 at 9:53 PM
He eats people like her up 5 days a week from 10am to 1pm. Nothing new.
The most interesting thing is she sees her own political viewpoints as the default viewpoint. Liberalism requires no higher thought processes. In fact it is the most gutless type of group-think.
Both pathetic and hilarious.
daesleeper on April 17, 2009 at 10:00 PM
When a sweetheart like this talks about how hateful the right wing is, why isn’t she asked, “Do you love people with whom you disagree?”
I know the answer. I just wish someone would ask her the question.

Undeniable Truth #24 (irony much?):
Feminism was established so as to allow unattractive women access to the mainstream of society.

I snubbed tons of people today, especially late this afternoon when I didn’t even look at all the people on the other side of the expressway going past me in the opposite direction at 65 MPH.
I’m totally awesome, too, don’t ya know!
Dusty on April 17, 2009 at 10:14 PM
I don’t have television…does she do the catering for 24 or something?
Asher on April 17, 2009 at 10:17 PM
Cripes, she’s even getting hammered by the comments on the Village Voice!! LOL!
D2Boston on April 17, 2009 at 10:17 PM
Well, I will admit that I think she’s kind of cute myself.
Part of that is my unexplainable attraction to harpies…
Asher on April 17, 2009 at 10:19 PM
Aww, c’mon. Don’t be so hard on Garofalo. And you really *should* watch 24 when she’s on.
Here’s why.
The very fact that she admitted her need for an acting gig, regardless of how she loathes the theme of the show she’s acting in, means that she’s nothing more than a blowhard with absolutely no principles at all, who will give up anything she believes in just so she can earn a buck.
In other words, Garofalo’s nothing more than a whore.
And every episode she acts in, she’s thanking Surnow for being her John.
So watch her act, as a character who aids and abets so-called “torturers”, and enjoy

jdkchem on April 18, 2009 at 12:45 AM
Garofalo made it all up! Rush responds on Brian Maloney’s Radio Equalizer blog:
“The last time I visited the set of 24, Garofalo had not been hired to appear in the series. She was not there, she was not a member of the cast the last time I visited. I wouldn’t have wanted to meet her anyway.
“The last time I visited the set, Kim Raver was still in the cast and CTU was the primary “location” of the show. This current season, seven, has been in the can since last summer or fall and I have been nowhere near the 24 set for any shoots for this season, which is this lunatic’s first season.”

Act? So far all I’ve seen her do is either walk around with her arms tightly crossed with a pissed off look on her face or sit and stare grumpily at a computer screen. Doesn’t take much talent to do that.
